In a lodge like this it is easy to relax and enjoy nature in all of its fall glory. Since this is our vacation home, where we will spend many holidays, we paid extra attention to custom details as one can appreciate immediately. This home has been meticulously crafted with the finest materials: granite counter-tops, field stone accents and hand-sawn logs to name a few. Newly decorated and furnished game room with a new flat screen TV, bumper pool, poker table and Foosball table These details include the masonry work which used the local field stone, the log siding which was milled in Piedmont, and hardwood floors which were recycled from an old barn, the Dakota mahogany granite counter-tops which is quarried in Milbank, SD. The custom made pine furniture was crafted by a local furniture maker in Piedmont, SD. Some of the artwork, was obtained from the Rosebud Indian Reservation, near Winner, SD.. This Lodge has 3 queen beds, 1 king, 3 bunk beds, a crib and toddler bed. It is located only 1/2 mile from the ski lifts and has a biker friendly well maintained road in the development. We especially enjoy the hot tub on winter evenings where we can enjoy a glass of wine, and appreciate the incredible view. This cabin provides rustic charm combined with all the amenities of a modern home including satellite music/tv and high speed wireless Internet which allows us to check in with the office if necessary.

The double garage provides space and protection for your vehicle(s) and motorcycles and ski equipment. We would like to invite you to share this special retreat, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

About The Owner

A special place to easy relax and enjoy nature.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose Black Hills

In winter of 2002 our family made ski vacation at Terry Peak. While exploring the surroundings, we found in the Terry Peak housing development, 2 lots with a stunning view to the Southern Hills and Wyoming. It took us 1 year to negotiate purchase of these lots. Construction started in Spring of 2004, and we completed the home in the Summer of 2005. Since this is our home, where we will spend many holidays, we paid extra attention to custom details as one can appreciate immediately. We specifically chose local companies and materials to add authenticity to our home. These details include the masonry work which used the local field stone, the log siding which was milled in Piedmont, and harwood floors which were recycled from an old barn, the dakota mahogany granite countertops which is quaried in Milbank, SD. The custom made pine furniture was crafted by a local furniture maker in Piedmont, SD. Some of the artwork, was obtained from the Rosebud Indian Reservation, near Winner, SD. We have also added architectural details from our travels around the world such as the functioning antique Peruvian oil lamps hanging from the mantels, the Peruvian and Mexican sconces, and the Gourd light over the master jacuzee.

Sincerely,

The Schmidt-Grimmingers

My extended family stayed here over Labor Day weekend. The owner (Delf) is a wonderful host and very helpful. I recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, luxury cabin in a great Black Hills location. The view is absolutely amazing. We would definitely book here again.

This cabin is wonderful! Eight of us traveled from Tennessee to South Dakota to ride the roads of Lead and surrounding area on our Harleys and to have this spacious, cozy atmosphere with it's huge deck and outstanding view to come back to at night was better than we imagined. We had 4 motorcycles that were parked with ease inside the double garage with plenty of room on the property to park two trucks and two trailers. We will definitely ask for this property again when we return to this area!!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in this house with 6 adults and 9 kids (ages 4-14). It was the perfect house for us! It's in a quiet neighborhood at the end of the street. I am not exaggerating when I say it has the best view you will find in all of Lead...it is amazing! I could have just sat out on the huge deck all day and enjoyed the view.

The kids had plenty of room to play outside on the huge driveway and surrounding woods and we never felt cramped in the house at all. The bunk room was perfect for the kids!

The kitchen was one of the best stocked rentals I've ever seen. The gas stove has a built-in griddle. There was a blender, crock pot, muffin pan, chopper...you name it, they have it!

Being on top of the mountain it was still warm enough for shorts, but cool enough to leave the a/c off and open the windows and be completely comfortable.

Delf was great at emailing and texting throughout our stay to make sure our vacation was as great as possible. If you have a free day I'd highly recommend renting the ATVs he has in the garage...so fun!

We mostly ate at home, but did have great burgers at Lewies one day (though the kitchen was super slow) and recommend the pizza from Pizza Lab too.

We walked down the street a bit one day, past the ski resort, to the active gold mine. It was really cool to watch. Don't miss driving through Spearfish Canyon...Roughlock falls are beautiful! And if you have kids Devil's Bathtub is a must do...a 30-45 minute hike crossing a stream to an amazing natural rock slide. The fish hatchery in Spearfish was fun too. Mount Roosevelt just past Deadwood is great too...a beautiful half mile walk to a tower with 360* views. A day trip to Custer State Park and Mt Rushmore is a must too! Stop at Sylvan Lake, take Needles Hwy down, do the Wildlife Loop, then take Iron Mountain Road into Mount Rushmore. Amazing drive!!

You really can't go wrong staying in Lead, so much to do and see up north and the drive south isn't too long and beautiful the whole way. We can't wait to go back again!

We just got back from Eagle Vista and it was a wonderful experience! Plenty of privacy and anything you could need in the cabin. Very clean and well set up. Delf responded immediately with any questions I had and was VERY accommodating. You will not be dissappointed!
