About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

We invite you to enjoy our warm cabin get-a-way ~ A perfect location for enjoying all things special about Lake Tahoe! We are 7 minutes from shopping in Tahoe City, 15 minutes from Squaw Valley or Northstar and only a 2 block walk to lake's edge. The cabin backs to forest land so step out the back door for miles of hiking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. In this classic Tahoe cabin you can build a cozy wood fire or drift off to sleep in plush down covered beds. Big fluffy towels are ready for you in the 2 bathrooms and the kitchen is fully stocked if you chose to cook a big meal. On the cook's night off, you can walk down to famous Gar Woods Restaurant and sip an afternoon cocktail on their open air deck. For more causal dining you must try the calzones at CB's Pizza.

Our cabin can sleep 6-9 of your crew! A bath and 2 bedrooms are downstairs with a full bed and a queen bed. Climb up the quaint wooden stairway to find the kids bunk space with 3 singles. The master bedroom is also upstairs with a wonderfully soft King-size bed and a second bath. If other friends join you last minute, pull out the comfy convertible bed in the living room.

While the cabin is cozy for couples, it's a great space for families too. The bunkroom is a favorite for kids with plush bedding and small woodland critter stuffies on each bed to snuggle with. A nice open space in the middle of the floor is a great place to play board games or build Lego creations (Legos included!)

Downstairs you will find a game table with many choices including classics like chess, checkers & backgammon, and kids favorites such as I Spy and Cranium. The living room also holds a flat-screen TV with satellite and DVD player including a nice selection of movies for the entire family.

Outside the cabin there is a big, beautiful deck off the front with peek views of the lake. The sunrise from this deck cannot be missed! You can see the amber sunrise reflected beautifully on the lake. In the backyard you will find there is just enough of an incline to make a small sledding area for the littlest ones -- and don't forget the miles of woods to discover!

Welcome to your classic Tahoe vacation! We are holding a space for your family memories.

About Linda Lessner

Texas meets Tahoe. We are an active family with 4 young kiddos from Austin, Texas. We have loved Tahoe for many years and this cabin is part of our family dream. Two of our favorite sports are snowboarding and rock climbing--both are great in Tahoe!

Linda Lessner purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Linda Lessner chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

Carnelian Bay is a beautiful area of Lake Tahoe. We have been coming to the northwest corner of the lake since 1997. The people are friendly and very interested in all things outdoors! This corner so centrally located to many things we love including snowboarding, activities in Tahoe City and rafting the Truckee River. Being so close to Highway 267, we like that it is easy to get to and from Reno Airport especially when you get some last minute snow!

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin feels like home. It is so cozy and laid back. My favorite vision is waking up on 'Texas time' to catch the morning sunrise. The first time I saw it I was amazed by the amber colors reflecting off the lake. It is so peaceful here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Linda,

I just wanted to let you know that we all loved your cabin. It was the perfect Tahoe getaway. Old Tahoe charm with the cozy comforts you've added made for a delightful weekend. It will most likely be the last time for a while my group will getaway as a family and we made very happy memories to take with us. Thank you very much and I'm sure we will be calling again for future trips in summer. Take care.

Cute and great location, we will be back.

  • 4 of 5

Took our daughter and friends to Tahoe for some fun in the snow for her 10th birthday. Location is great, close to everything. Very cute property. Would definitely stay here again. Giving 4 stars due to a few disappointments upon a late arrival due to the weather (lots of snow) not all the beds were made, there were dirty towels left on the floor and clean dishes were not clean. The door was hard to lock because the frame is cracked, and the bear box was completely full so we had to take our garbage with us. Due to the amount of snow that had come, we couldn't use the fireplace, but as I said, the property is cute and perfect for a small group wanting to relax. Close to lake, snow park, grocery store. We will definitely book here again if we are able to get a weekend away this summer, and definitely when we head to Tahoe in the winter.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you will be visiting us again! And, thank you for your honest feedback. It is so important we hear from our guests if the cabin did not meet all of their expectations. We have had an exceedingly snowy season with many of our service providers stretched to the limit as they tried to navigate the roads. Local trash service was delayed due to the snow plows covering bear boxes. And, our housekeeper was delayed as well. You can be assured, we have fixed the door jam and public services are back in-line. :) Thank you again for your exceeding patience! Sincerely, Linda Lessner

Great fun!

We had a wonderful weekend at this cabin! The sloped back yard was fun sledding for all, and when the day was done it was great to relax with hot chocolate in this cute cabin! Pet and kid friendly!

Cute retro cabin

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for three days, to play in the snow. It was pleasant. The decor is all knotty-pine and braided rugs, with many fixtures going back decades, for an authentic 1950s feel. There's a nice, cast-iron wood-burning stove in the living room (which we didn't use). The two downstairs bedrooms are very small and lack some basic amenties like a beside table/lamp on each side; this could be solved with a little imagination. The upstairs "kiddie" room has such a low ceiling that adults must crawl on hands and knees to navigate; however, it's fine for small children. The staircase is steep and a bit hazardous: two of our adults banged their heads while going up. The downstairs bathroom includes a nice, modern shower and a tiny, cramped alcove for the toilet; it's like sitting inside a tissue box! The upstairs bathroom, off the master bedroom, is spacious and modern. Laundry facilities are in an upstairs closet. Throughout the house, electrical outlets are in short supply, and often hard to get to, but that's typical of older buildings like this one. The kitchen offers plenty of dishes, cups, glasses, flatware, etc. There's a first-rate cast-iron skillet, but the two saucepans are both bare, old aluminum; newer, less toxic saucepans would be nice. Plenty of games, toys, and books are provided for indoor entertainment. There's a nice, big deck in front, and the back yard is a wooded slope. A 7-11 store is within easy walking distance.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very extensive review of our cabin--including the things you enjoyed and those you would have wished for. It is very helpful to get feedback from our guests as each guest has differing needs and likes. Thank you for the suggestions on the cooking pots. We do have a large selection of pots in the cabinet on the peninsula but you may not have located that particular cabinet. Perhaps I may need to place a note on that cabinet. ;) Thanks again for visiting our home! Linda

cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

This is a cute little cabin. We enjoyed staying there. It has everything you need if you are stuck in the snow storm and just want to be inside. Our 5 and 7 year olds enjoyed the loft. The loft stairs are probably not very safe for smaller children, but worked just fine for our family. There are two bedrooms downstairs so if you are concerned about stairs, you have everything you might need on the first floor. Lastly, Linda was very nice and responsive! Thank you!

Picturesque Tahoe Cabin

This is our second time staying in this cozy cabin and it did not disappoint! It feels like taking a step back to a much simpler time full of laughter and warmth. I highly recommend this place and cannot say enough nice things about the owners. They obviously love this place and the people they cater too! Thank you for the experience!

Cozy Carnelian Bay Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (plus our small dog) had a lovely stay at the Lessner's cabin. Quaint cabin, perfect for a family- my 6 year old twins were thrilled with all the Legos and toys available and my 15 year old liked the X-box. It snowed both Saturday and Sunday, lucky for us the cabin had a few sleds stored under the deck. Cabin has 2 private bedrooms downstairs, snug, but perfect for sleeping. Upstairs the open loft is great for kids (3 twin beds) and the attached master bedroom and bath are all well appointed. The house was as expected upon arrival, kitchen well-stocked and linens provided. Very short walk to the lake and Garwood's or 7-11 if you need firewood (or to send your kids on a walk for 'treats'). While private with an open back, the cabin has neighbors to each side, there is an easement of forest to explore and several hundred yards back I believe a set of condos edge the forest. Appreciate the responsiveness of the owners and the great "cabin" feel of this home. Thank you!
