Welcome to Pine Marten lodge - a spacious yet cozy, charming and well-appointed Bavarian chalet nestled in a beautiful, wooded setting among majestic pines. The home invites with new, comfortable furnishings, warm hickory wood floors, tasteful decor, luxury linens, immaculate upkeep, and all the necessary amenities for an enjoyable and comfortable stay, including a fully equipped kitchen and plush, down covered beds.

Pine Marten Lodge is the perfect place to gather with your family and friends and absorb all the sights and activities that make Tahoe famous, or you can just come and relax in the serenity of the mountains. Everything you need is here.

The house is located on a flat lot on a desirable, quiet street away from the main road with minimal car passage so it is the perfect place for kids to frolic and play in both summer and winter.

A large, long flat driveway allows easy access and parking in addition to the one car garage with direct access to the house.

A short drive gets you to the world renowned Lake Tahoe - with all that it has to offer, but you can also find Donner Lake a refreshing alternative.

Pine Marten Lodge is a great place to just enjoy nature from home. The backyard deck steps down to a large paved patio surrounded by towering pines to really be at one with nature. There's also a six burner grill for all your outdoor cooking!

There are two charming guest bedrooms on the first level - one with a queen bed, and one with a full over full bunk bed (making it equally cozy for kids OR couples).

On the upper level you will find the loft/playroom - with a queen sleeper sofa and twin daybed, 32' TV, Xbox 360 with Kinect. The loft also opens to another deck to enjoy the view. And finally, upstairs you will find the master suite - with pillowtop king bed, ensuite bathroom with his and hers sinks, and a 26' flat-screen tv with DVD player.

We’ve supplied our cabin with families in mind, with books, toys, DVDs, plenty of gourmet kitchen tools, games for all ages, a yoga mat, sleds, baby necessities and more! Rental includes free WiFi/internet. You’ll find more than everything you need at our Tahoe Donner home, both inside and out, to make your stay a magical one.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a fantastic stay. Your house was a home from home with everything we could have possibly needed. Its all the little touches that make the difference, the extras in the kitchen, the firepit was a hit with all and we spotted pine martins, deer at breakfast time just walking past the window and we even turned into amateur birdwatchers thanks to the many books you provided which helped us to find out the names but sadly no bears although we took that to be a bonus. Went swimming in Lake Tahoe at one of the secret coves, hiked up Eagle Falls, walked round Spooner Lake, cycled round Donner Lake which was incredibly good value thanks to your residence card. We shall tell our friends and hopefuly you will get more visitors from Scotland. Thanks for all you help and advice along the way it was very much appreciated. Thanks again.

Beautiful, comfortable and clean!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first time at this property. We couldn't have been happier with it. Very clean and comfortable without being fussy. We stayed over a big snow storm and were pretty well socked in. The beds are comfortable and warm. Bathrooms updated. Kitchen well equipped. Owner was very responsive, professional and nice. Power did go out multiple times but again that was everywhere due to storm. We had to work over our stay and the internet connection worked well for us. AT&T cell coverage was great despite a warning it may be spotty. It really felt like staying at a friend's place rather than a worn out rental that

some do. We look forward to another stay at this one in the future. Highly recommend it!

The perfect vacation retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Pine Marten Lodge was such a wonderful location for our holiday family trip. Judy was a consummate host and answered all of my questions prior to arrival. Access to the house was easy, and everything was provided to make our stay a memorable one. Plenty of firewood was available to keep us warm, even though the house had a great central heating system. The beds were all very comfortable. The house itself was immaculate and spacious. My family loved it and we hope to come back in the near future.

Perfect ski rental

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Pine Marten Lodge. There was a perfect yard for kids to build snowmen, comfortable beds, everything necessary to cook and wash laundry, and wifi worked well. Easy road and flat driveway for the icy days, which I hadn't even considered when looking for a vacation rental. We had a major power outage from a big storm in the area, and owners were immediately responsive when we had questions. The Tahoe Donner ski resort was close and perfect for our young family. I can't think of anything it was missing, it was just warm and luxurious, and loads of fun, even the neighbors were welcoming. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Truly a Winter Wonderland-worthy home!

  • 5 of 5

Just a note to share how much I enjoyed my stay at this house. My parents joined my family and I (7 total) for a Thanksgiving holiday at beautiful LakeTahoe, and it couldn't have gone better! The house was ideally located in the hills of Truckee, surrounded by mature Pines and Redwoods. It was impeccably clean, plenty big and fully equipped for making and enjoying a complete traditional Thanksgiving dinner for 7 - wonderfully appointed and modernized. All of the beds were incredibly comfortable, with high-quality bedding and pillows- we all slept so well during our stay! It was such blessing to have had some snow and watch it fall as we relaxed in the super comfy living room by the wood stove...nothing like snow and a warm, bright fire to bring in a holiday together! The house came fully loaded with dry, split firewood, which we used the majority of the time during our stay. Additionally, there were sleds in the garage which the kids quickly grabbed up and found a nice sledding hill about 200 yards from the house in the beautiful and open backyard- so fun! The Hot Tub on the back porch was clean and functional, and we all enjoyed a soak as snow was falling around us- simply magical! We had a bit of difficulty getting the surround sound to work, but that didn't stop us from enjoying many movies together on the big hi-def television (the TV volume was fine)! Judy was great with her communication, and super friendly, allowing an exception be made for my small, well-behaved dog so he could join us (his first time in snow- it was comical watching him walk through 6 inches of snow!) In summary, it was everything I had hoped for when selecting a mountain cabin for my holiday stay. The website and pictures did a great job of accurately depicting the charm and clean, friendly confines of this home. We will look to stay here again if we're blessed to return! Enjoy!

Absolutely Perfect!!!

  • 5 of 5

Truly a magnificent cabin!! Immediately as we stepped into the cabin we were blown away by the beautiful open floor plan with soaring windows and lovely furniture. The cabin is the perfect size. Plenty of room to spread out--but not overwhelmingly large! The backyard is big and flat and so tranquil, the chipmunks certainly love hanging out there!! The cabin was spotless and appointed with thick bath towels and comfy beds. The kids were thrilled that there was a waffle iron--and enjoyed having big breakfasts before we headed out on our daily adventures!!
