About Bridget Uhler

We visited Costa Rica, for the first time, on our 8th Anniversary and feel in love.

We are now going on our 29th and still coming back. It was an adventure then

and we're glad to say, it still is. We finished building the house in May of 2010,

with the hope of sharing our love for the country with others.

Pura Vida!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for four nights with our three children 7,5 and 5. All of us had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful. It's clean and spacious. The pool is perfect. The outdoor shower was the best. The beach and walk to the beach even better than perfect. Mario and his father took such fantastic care of us. Mario helped us buy some delicious fresh fish referred to in a previous post. The beach is mind blowing with its black sand, coral reef area, warm water and lack of crowds. Its definitely a transporting experience.

The owners are so kind and called around town one evening when our daughter needed some Tylenol to see if any local moms had some. Marios family brought some over for us .. even though it was well into the night.

Just a fantastic experience. We Highly recommend and hope to visit again.

Isolated Beautiful Property

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our week in Costa Rica. The country is beautiful, the locals are nice and very helpful. The different towns are full of great cuisine and even shopping. There are activities galore. We went on a catamaran cruise and booked a tour with zip lining, horseback riding, hot springs, mud bath, lunch, waterslide, and a waterfall.

The house is in great condition, and the pool is definitely its main selling feature. There is an ocean view from the empty lot across from the property and also from the upper balcony which Mario let us use look from. The walk to the ocean is about 10-15 minutes, which is a little longer than I expected and awould have liked for it to be. Although the view is obscured, you can definitely hear the waves crashing later in the afternoon and through the evening hours. The landscaping around the propert was gorgeous. We heard lots of wildlife such as various birds, bats, and monkeys. We saw geckos, an iguana, toucan, and monkeys nearly every morning when we sat out by the pool.

The main gravel road from the pavement to the property was incredibly rough. It was like driving on a washboard for 10-15 minutes. Myself and another in our party got car sick nearly every night after dinner on our ride home, but the men didn't think it was too bad. The paved roads were great and the lane that the house was on was in pretty good shape as well.

Some things I wish the house would have had would be trash bags, dish soap, toilet paper, and blankets for the beds. We didn't expect to need those things so we had to make an additional trip to the store for those.

Mario was great in giving recommendations for restaurants or thins to see. He always made sure that we were doing alright, and asked if we needed anything. He even invited us down to the party that the locals were having.

All in all it was a great stay. Thanks Tim & Bridget.

Honeymoon retreat

  • 5 of 5

If you are wanting to get away and have an amazing time this is the place to do just that. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon! The house was amazing, pool was refreshing, and the views were spectacular. The house manager Mario was great as well! You are not too far away from some tourist attractions in the area, but this house really allows you to have some much needed seclusion. If you are debating whether or not to go to Costa Rica and stay here the answer is....GO!! Costa Rica is absolutely beautiful and he people are so amazing! We will never forget our time spent here and would highly recommend this vacation house to anyone who asks!

FANTASTIC!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family (four kids ages 14-4) stayed here for the month of June. We absolutely LOVED it! What a great house in a beautiful location! It is quiet and secluded which is just what we wanted during our stay. It was within an hour drive of some great places to visit (Tamarindo to the north and Nosara to the south which are both fun places to visit but I was glad we weren't staying there - too touristy for us). There are plenty of great beaches in-between.

The home itself is clean and comfortable. Well equipped and furnished with everything you would need. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals (since we were there for a month we made most of our meals at home). Bridget (the home owner) and Mario (the property manager) put us in contact with a local fisherman so we had fresh fish which we prepared. It was delicious. We spent hours in the pool - it was always the perfect temperature an so refreshing.

Bridget (and Tom) are a pleasure to work with - so kind and responsive. We met Bridget while we were there and she is a lovely person. Such a pleasure to meet her!

The property manager is fantastic. He understands a lot of English and helped us with our Spanish immensely. If we had a question about the property or the surrounding area he was able to answer all our questions.

I would HIGHLY recommend staying here without any reservations. We LOVED it!

Private Oasis

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I are retired and we rented this casa for almost three months this winter. It was perfect for us and had enough room for when my daughter and two children came to visit. The beds are very comfortable. The air conditioners in every room work well. The pool is the best feature of all. It is large and deep and kept so clean by the house manager, Mario. We had fun learning Spanish from him and he likewise was trying to learn English. He helped us in so many ways. We had a flat tire when we were there and he changed it and told us a good place to go and have it repaired. He showed us where to go to get a Sim Card for our tablet in Santa Cruz so that we could access the internet both at the house and in the car. He refilled the gas tanks when our fuel ran out for our stove. He really was so very helpful and as a result we felt very well cared for and safe. His Dad is the gardener and he came every morning early and did a wonderful job of tending their lovely grounds and he gave us bananas, papayas and limes grown fresh right on the property! Because we had such a long term rental there were things that we missed having at the house that others staying for just a week or two probably would not care. I missed having a microwave for example. Some of the pots and pans were not in too good of shape and there were no muffin tins, cake pans, casserole dishes that sort of thing that one needs for a longer stay. For everyday cooking all the necessary items were there for our use. We were happy to have beach chairs available to take with us to the beach but we had to buy a cooler and a thermos to take cold drinks with us. The property itself is very beautiful and the pool area is surrounded with lush tropical plants and flowers. My only complaint would be the road getting there was long and a dirt road and you really do need a four wheel drive to drive on that every day as well as getting up the hill to reach the house. Keep in mind you are in Costa Rica though so this is to be expected. We found all the people in the village and everywhere we went to be very friendly especially when we tried to speak our broken Spanish to them! All in all it was a wonderful holiday and I would love to go back again in the future!

Absolute Paradise

I have to say this rental property was more than I had expected. The house manager was very friendly and helpful. The pool was fabulous, the beach nearby was absolutely gorgeous and the location was private and very quiet. I very much look forward to returning.
