Idyllic, True West Village 1 Bedroom - Skylights, Lots of light even on rainy days
Welcome to the storybook West Village: fantastic restaurants and cafes, beautiful shops, cobblestone streets and the old-world charm of brownstones and a more casual, laid back, downtown way of life.
The (Far) West Village is the most sought after neighborhood in all of Manhattan, home to many celebrities, models, artists, etc. Walk a couple of blocks west and you are on the beautiful Hudson River with all that the Hudson River Park has to offer. In addition to beautiful sunset strolls along the recently opened Highline Park, you can take part in the many sports activities and children’s programs at Chelsea Piers or the free programs offered by the Park and the Piers such as free outdoor screenings, free kayaks, mini-golf, free concerts, bike rentals and much, much more.
The apartment is a roomy, truly charming, airy, light-filled, TRUE 1-bedroom which is difficult to find on this site among the studios and Junior 1 BR’s (studio with a cordoned off bed). On the top floor of a turn-of-the-century brownstone, the apartment has hardwood floors, a decorative, original brick fireplace, a large marble bathroom with an antique sink and clawfoot soaking tub, a dining area, 2 huge eastern-facing picture windows, a large L-shaped couch (that can be used for EXTRA SLEEPING), a brand new 46 in. flat screen, microwave, premium cable, wifi, a huge 5 ft. x 5 ft. skylight in the living room and a smaller skylight in the bathroom providing gorgeous light all day.
West Village shopping is unparalleled. Within a 10 block radius you have all of the upscale shopping of Bleecker Street including Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Intermix, Cynthia Rowley, Lulu Guiness and others. And a few blocks in the other direction will take you into the Meatpacking District shopping area, home to Diane Von Furstenburg, Jeffrey, Stella McArtney, Scoop, Derek Lam, Hugo Boss, Moschino, Matthew Williamson, Catharine Malandrino, etc.
Exquisite dining choices of all types and prices are too many to list as the West Village and the surrounding neighborhoods of Chelsea, Soho and Tribeca are home to downtown’s finest. And if you’re up for a bit of a walk or a short subway or cab ride you can add the East Village, Gramercy, Lower East Side and Chinatown to your restaurant experiences. Not to mention that almost everyone delivers, many late into the night. It’s New York!
Cabs are very easy to catch at any time of day. The 1, 2, 3 line is a 4 min. walk to either the Christopher or Houston stop and it’s a 6 min. walk to the 4th st. hub station where you can catch the B, D, F or the A, C, E trains.
Keywords: Enjoy the West Village lifestyle, great restaurants, shopping, walk to Chelsea Piers, 10 mins. to theater district, movies, South St. Sea Port.
Loves all that New York has to offer and I can't imagine living in any other neighborhood but the West Village!
The West Village is THE place to live/visit in NYC.
Frequent the local world-class restaurants or take a morning or evening stroll along the river or to the Highline. Most mornings I grab a coffee, indulge in a pastry or brunch outside with friends.
We had such a great time! Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. The apartment worked out beautifully. We loved the space, the color and those fabulous linens. So comfy. I can't wait to come back!
I travel to NYC often and this apartment is my 2nd home. I have stay here for weeks each year for about the past 5 years. It is perfect in every way; The photos do not do it justice. The skylight and vaulted ceiling offer tremendous light during the day and the large picture windows allow for terrific street watching. The apartment feels roomy due to the open plan, and the decor is eclectic/hip/comfortable NY chic. The 3rd floor position means that you have privacy from the street even when the drapes are fully open during the day. Bathroom is also filled with light (a rarity in NYC) due to a 2nd skylight. It exudes old world charm with marble, original pedestal sink and soaker tub (that is outfitted with a shower head). The location is fantastic and close to all that is unique about the West Village AND only 2 blocks from the West Side Park for a jog or walk. The subway is close to offer easy transit to points north, east and south. Ed, the owner, is extremely warm, helpful and welcoming. He has become a real friend after so many of my stays in this fabulous apartment. A HUGE Plus...Ed is VERY neat and picky about the state of the apartment before your arrival. It has always been SPOTLESS. I can't say enough great things about this apartment and Ed.
We stayed in this place for 3 months in summer 2015 and loved it right from the beginning and until the end ;-) !
Ed was wonderful and very welcoming and warm even before arrival! He helped us with everything and even provided us with sunbathing equipment for beach time! He was super nice, very caring and interested and made us feel at home in his place!
A lovely and bright apartment perfect for a couple. Very charming interior and very clean!
Well, this is self-explanatory: certainly the best location in Manhattan and very nice within the West Village. Rather quiet although windows are facing Hudson Street. 10min walking to West 4 - a key subway station! 5min walking to the Hudson River!
It was the perfect apartment for our Manhattan stay and we can only recommend it to anyone planning to stay in Manhattan for the summer!
Charming spot in West Village. Great location for walking almost anywhere and we felt immediately at home. The grocery across the street was nice to have and the larger grocery store a few blocks down had all the additional things we needed. The light in the apartment is fantastic and the owner was extremely accommodating. It was also nice to have laundry available to us. The neighborhood is delightful and quiet but still close to everything (restaurants, churches, parks, subway, stores, sightseeing). Thanks to the owners for a wonderful stay in their little corner of NYC! There are three flights of stairs so you need to be able to tolerate stairs to stay here.
I've used VRBO many times before, and this way by FAR the diamond in the rough. The neighborhood is quaint, peaceful, and cozy. But just a couple blocks away is booming with unbelievable places to eat, fun bars, and the true New York experience. This apartment was everything it claimed and more. If you've ever stayed in NY, you know your place is going to be small, and sometimes poorly decorated, etc. This was the perfect size and EXTREMELY comfortable. Big TV, Big couch(NO FUTON!), fully equipped kitchen, WONDERFUL BED(tons of fluffy pillows, great comforter, extra blankets). Plenty of space for your things(full dresser, full closet, full armoire with small TV in bedroom to put extra clothes in. Bathroom and living room has a skylight, i don't think we turned the lights on once! Great sunlight. Ladies, the bathroom was a good size. It has a shower and claw foot tub with all the amenities(pillow for taking a bath, caddies for holding your things, etc) Building is very quiet, I didnt hear a sound when I was there. People, you wont be disappointed if you stay here, it has everything you need and want. Owner was super friendly, made sure I didnt need for anything during my stay, and the keys were fed exed to me before I got there, VERY convenient. Im from NY originally and know first hand how its tough to find an accurate listing to find versus its description. This was not only accurate but way more than I expected not to mention the place was very clean. It doesnt get any better than this. Each time we were done for the day, it felt like coming home. I highly recommend this place to stay as well as the owner, you have no worries here! AWESOME PLACE! I wont stay anywhere else when I return to NY!
Stayed for 3 nights. Great little place. Nice modern & cozy clean interiors. Very responsive owner. I had lots of questions when we first arrived & he replied quickly. AC units kept place cool. Nice location for walking. Few blocks from Hudson River, subway & plenty of shops/restaurants nearby. West Village is our favorite neighborhood. Only suggestion: I recommend fixing the ceiling fan so guests can control the speed.
My husband and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend, and we didn't want to leave. The apartment is great and has everything you'd need, including excellent air conditioning (it was hot when we were there!), kitchen utensils, and a spare laptop and wireless. I only communicated with the owners over e-mail, but they were very helpful and accommodating in every way. And apart from all that, the location is fabulous! You can walk to all parts of the village and east village, lower east side, SOHO, the river, the High Line. And for NYC, it's pretty quiet. I almost don't want to tell people about this place, because I want to ensure it's available next time we go to New York. Fabulous place, I just wish I could live there!!
Antiquing, biking, Soho shopping, kayak rental, bike rental, many, many others. We will be happy to help you plan your trip!

We prefer 1 tenant for a long term rental. Holidays are priced differently if the apartment is available, please inquire for holiday prices. Holiday pricing only if tenant is non-long-term, less than 30 days. Long term rate is based upon a 30 day stay.
However, we are flexible so if you are looking for 30, 45, 60 days, whatever, please let us know. We'll try to make it work. To be clear, this does not mean days above 30 will be rated at the monthly standard price of $4950/mo.
All utilities are included in the long-term monthly rental rate, if there is not a negotiated discounted in rate.
Deposit of 50% is required to book the apartment. Once the monies clear the apartment is then booked by you. A tenant agreement must also be signed, and for the most part, is not negotiated. The agreement simply states the terms of the sub-lease and obligates you to the apartment and building rules. There is nothing unusual in either the agreement or rules; terms, common sense and respecting the apartment and neighbors. We are flexible and practical up to a point so please don’t hesitate to talk to us about any questions, special needs or comments.
15 days prior to arrival, the remaining 50% of the fee is required. At the owners expense the keys will be fed-ex'd to an address of your choice. We recommend the tenant purchase damage protection from this site. In the past, we did require deposits. However, deposits are not released immediately and are usually at least a one month fee. For a one-time charge of $99.00 you can protect yourself from accidents and the loss of a considerable amount of money. In addition, once you return your keys and the apartment is verified to be in as is condition, you will not be waiting for your deposit.
We are not expecting to use a deposit to fix something due to normal wear and tear. If there is a problem, we'll talk and resolve the issue fairly. Damage protection works for both parties, a fruitful process to cover both owner and tenant.
* Approximate monthly rate. Actual rate will depend on the days of the month you stay.
