About Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals

This place is for the outdoorsy. Folks who like to fish, hike, ski (snow and water skiing). If you love 'God's' country, beautiful scenery and views an dif your idea of 'wildlife' is deer and turkey then you have picked the right spot! Boat rentals thru the local marina's made this lake a first pick.

Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals purchased this cabin in 2009

What makes this cabin unique

The most unique benefit is the versatility of this location.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you all for another enjoyable weekend at your cabin Hidden Cove. Once again we checked into a super clean place with a warm bubbling hot tub. Loved all the new furniture. The sofa is extremely comfortable and the new dinning room set is adorable. New stain out side even new deck furniture. Everyone in our group appreciates how well you keep your place up. The roads are paved and its easy to get a round. We made it into town in less than 20 mins. Notice too some new stores that opened. Love the new restaurants that you told us about in our welcome package. Suba's has some excellent food selections especially their deserts. I appreciated the heads up on the dishwasher. Sears was in and out in 30 mins after replacing with a new one. It worked great too. We also appreciated the bottle of Champagne, how nice of you to remember our wedding anniversary. You guys do a great job and we'll continue to return every year. Please reserve the spring race dates for 2015. We look forward to our return trip. If you send us the link we'll post our review where ever you like or you are welcome to Post on our behalf.

Notes:
After renting cabins ourselves for years we knew the important factors and convenience, Comfort and Privacy were at the top of our list. The great room offers an open floor plan combining living area, dining room and kitchen. This allows everyone to be together whether cooking, watching TV & playing board games at the dining room table. Folks who are on Deck are just off the great room and just a yell away. The large six person hot tub is on deck too secluded on the side of the home overlooking the water and mtn range. Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer: You are able to bring and park trailers and boats at digisnated area* Lake View: with boat slip just a few mins walk. You have an absolutely gorgeous view of the lake and Cherokee National Forest * Mountain View: Cherokee National forest * Boat rentals at the Local marina's.

Hidden Cove had all we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at Watauga Lake. The views from this Mtn cabin were majestic!! The cabin was well maintained, The furnishings & beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with ample cookware and dishes. The outdoor decks were great for sitting and taking in the view, very peaceful. The canoe was a great plus, we paddled up the river and back, was just an awesome time. We finished up each night by the outdoor fire pit or in the hot tub. This cabin really had lots to offer and we can't wait to come back!!

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We came to Watauga for a weekend getaway. After arriving we realized we had stayed in this house before about 10 years ago. It still looked great and was still well maintained. Although we are familiar with the area, the information left there for guests was extensive. The view overlooking the lake was gorgeous and although it was March, we got to spend some great time sitting on the deck and unwinding with a glass of wine and enjoying the company of our son and daughter-in-law. The Captains Table Restaurant had just opened for the season and we stopped for dinner. Probably had the best steak we've ever eaten. The house was great, everything we needed was there and we are looking forward to returning again one day!

Beautiful Cabin, Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

ad a wonderful few days here … gorgeous home, warm and welcoming. Met up with the housekeeper at the local store about a five minutes drive. She was sweet and willing to baby sit our dog while we were gone one day white water rafting. Great country for that kind thing. Went down the street to the local marina and bought a fishing license and fished most of the weekend. Cooked trout on the outdoor gas grill every night too. My grand-kids were with us and every evening we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit yard. There was also a jungle gym that the kids played on while we told stories around the campfire. The fire pit is large and perfect for families to gather around and tell tails ..

Our family loves the outdoors, hiking and fishing so this property was perfect. You have about 40 acres to roam, fish and hike, we even found a cave down by the river to explore. We saw no one, no snakes and were surprised that we didn’t even see poison ivy. This place looks out over a large river. You can hear the water running from the deck. Its about a 7 minute walk down to the water. The walk down to the river is easy, down your drive way and theres pretty much the river on the right. We let our young children and dogs go down to the river daily with out us. We could see them fishing from the deck and could keep an eye on them. All roads are paved, but hardly no traffic. You can also drive down to the river, the drive takes just a minute and is the great if you are caring a heavy cooler full of food and beverage.

The fishing was wonderful. We caught more trout than we could possibility eat. So if fishing is your intention you have found the right place. Our whole group was very concerned with internet. We are all working and needed to stay in touch during our stay. The Wifi at this place worked great. I believe the service is with hughes. We were all able to check and answer emails in a timely fashion.

We received a very detailed welcome package that was very helpful. The directions to the property were spot on. We usually use navigation now a days but found their directions easy to follow.

The restaurants mentioned were excellent. We tried the gamekeeper, twiggs and one place right down the road called the Captains table. Its on the water with beautiful lake views.

The home itself is all log (no dry wall) with beautiful walnut hard wood floors. Pretty expensive to build. The furniture inside is very nice, the bedding is wonderful, got the best nights rest we’ve had

Another great stay at Hidden Cove!

  • 5 of 5

We just left this property last week. Our stay in Jan was great. We hit the slopes every day. Sugar and Beech were in full swing with lots of snow. The cabin we loved. This place is very clean, neat and everything needed is provided. Our family really enjoyed the beds. They are extremely comfortable with very nice linens and comfortable pillows. All bedrooms have glass sliding doors that open up onto decks making it so convenient to just step out and get a breath of fresh air. You can tell the views of the lake and mountains were taken right off the deck of this house you can even focus in and see the exact same railing on the deck as the online pictures. Just note that each season has its look. Winter will look more bear with less water and foliage. Summer months are going to be a totally different look. We have stayed her twice now. Our last stay was in July and the lake was so full of water that it was splashing on the road. Even though water levels fluctuate with the seasons its still pretty much the same gorgeous view. The housekeeper does live just below the hill and thank good ness for that. I called twice for help. First I locked myself out, she arrived within minutes to get me back in. She even stopped by to help me when my youngest got sick. She gets a big A+ for that assistance and so thankful for her being close enough to help quickly. We found the other homes & yards in the area to be neat & clean. Our expectations of the property have been met both stays. We love it and plan to return soon.
