About Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals

This place is for the outdoorsy. Folks who like to fish, hike, ski (snow and water skiing). If you love 'God's' country, beautiful scenery and views. New winery down the street and Boat rentals thru the local marina's made this an easy 1st choice.

Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals chose Tennessee

This vacation rental offers many diverse activities.

You have winter sports to summer sports where the water is very clean. You have fall foliage to sunny summers with no humidity or mosquitoes.

You have nascar racing in Bristol Tennessee just 40 miles

Beech Mountain, NC for snow skiing is 15 miles

Great unique dining/shopping in the near-by towns of Boone and Blowing Rock with outdoor festivals and live entertainment. Family oriented areas. Boat rentals on the lake make it easy for us to teach our kids about the waterways, swimming, fishing and waterskiing without having the expense of owning our own boat.

What makes this cabin unique

The most unique benefit is the versatility of this location.

Snow skiing to jet skiing, Fall foliage to wildlife viewing right here on the property. Gorgeous views anytime of the year that are second to none. Paved roads, with good access to town, shopping and restaurants. Zip lines, whitewater rafting, Bristol race. Where mtns meet water.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you all for another enjoyable weekend at your cabin Hidden Cove. Once again we checked into a super clean place with a warm bubbling hot tub. Loved all the new furniture. The sofa is extremely comfortable and the new dinning room set is adorable. New stain out side even new deck furniture. Everyone in our group appreciates how well you keep your place up. The roads are paved and its easy to get a round. We made it into town in less than 20 mins. Notice too some new stores that opened. Love the new restaurants that you told us about in our welcome package. Suba's has some excellent food selections especially their deserts. I appreciated the heads up on the dishwasher. Sears was in and out in 30 mins after replacing with a new one. It worked great too. We also appreciated the bottle of Champagne, how nice of you to remember our wedding anniversary. You guys do a great job and we'll continue to return every year. Please reserve the spring race dates for 2015. We look forward to our return trip. If you send us the link we'll post our review where ever you like or you are welcome to Post on our behalf.

Notes:
After renting cabins ourselves for years we knew the important factors and convenience, Comfort and Privacy were at the top of our list. The great room offers an open floor plan combining living area, dining room and kitchen. This allows everyone to be together whether cooking, watching TV & playing board games at the dining room table. Folks who are on Deck are just off the great room and just a yell away. The large six person hot tub is on deck too secluded on the side of the home overlooking the water and mtn range. Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer: You are able to bring and park trailers and boats at digisnated area* Lake View: with boat slip just a few mins walk. You have an absolutely gorgeous view of the lake and Cherokee National Forest * Mountain View: Cherokee National forest * Boat rentals at the Local marina's.

Hidden Cove had all we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at Watauga Lake. The views from this Mtn cabin were majestic!! The cabin was well maintained, The furnishings & beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with ample cookware and dishes. The outdoor decks were great for sitting and taking in the view, very peaceful. The canoe was a great plus, we paddled up the river and back, was just an awesome time. We finished up each night by the outdoor fire pit or in the hot tub. This cabin really had lots to offer and we can't wait to come back!!

Beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

The location is great and the view is beautiful! The house is well equipped and very nice. The only remark I would make is that the window coverings allow anyone to see inside at night if the lights are on inside. Even with that point, we would stay there again!

So much potential for family fun!

  • 4 of 5

Bring inner tubes and jump off the dock! I loved sitting in a tube at dusk and watching the moon come up over the mountains. We enjoyed the canoe, the great decks and the hot tub! We rented bikes at the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail (which was my family's absolute favorite), Grandfather Mountain's Singing Bridge, and Linville Falls. We also enjoyed the fireworks in Mountain City. I do have to say I was disappointed that we couldn't use the grill because it was in such bad shape, the floors looked clean but because we had a baby crawling on the floor we noticed dog hair and crumbs so I had to damp mop all 3 levels as soon as I got there. The beds were comfortable and the layout was perfect for our family of 3 couples and a baby.

Owner's Response: So good to hear that you enjoyed the place and all the things to do. From Sun Sets to Sun rises, there's a beautiful view every minute of the day. Many of the activities mentioned by this guest are listed in our welcome package. We send guests in all directions from white water rafting to kayaking to water & snow skiing. Glad that maintenance could get a new grill over there, thanks for your patiences. Yes, baby can put you to the test. Know that we mopped the floors twice before your arrival and did the best job a human could do. Please know you are welcome back anytime. We look forward to seeing you again when ready for another mountain get away here on Watauga lake.

Spectacular views...beautiful cabin

  • 4 of 5

The view from this cabin is gorgeous!! We loved waking up each morning and having a cup of coffee on the deck. The cabin was clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Not so much for the living room furniture! The dock is a bit far from the cabin and while a short walk..it is all down hill which may pose a problem for some people. Be prepared with food!!! We did not prepare to eat dinners in the cabin (not many places within 15 to 20 miles to eat or buy groceries, and they were not open during the week), and had to go back to Elizabethton and buy more food. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time, rented a boat for three of our 5 days and enjoyed Watauga lake for the first time. It is truly one of the most beautiful and pristine lakes we have seen.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your comments and kind words. Admiring the beautiful view is a great way to enjoy morning java. Glad you found the place clean and comfortable. New beds were just purchased. The stroll down to the dock takes us about ten minutes or a minutes drive in the car. It's an easy walk down but smokers might have trouble going back up. Should anyone in your party have trouble know you can drive down in about a minute. Our grands run the local store Dry Hill general. Only 7 minute drive door to door. They sell limited groceries, breakfast lunch and dinner for about $8 bucks. They are open seven days a week all year round. Shirley restaurant is 10 minutes, open and serves a great lunch with blue grass music some days. The Captains table restaurant on the water offers a gorgeous view It's a 15 minute drive and it's good to call ahead because it is very crowded, steaks to seafood and serves adult beverages. The new winery is 10 mins up the road and another excellent stop. Sorry these these spots mentioned in the welcome letter were missed. We encourage all guests to read thru the information provided. These are easy to find places and mentioned in every guests welcome package along with directions and phone numbers. Major grocery stores, Walmart, chain restaurants are all in town about 20-30 minutes in any direction. This is a true 'get a way' but know there are places close by. Boat rentals are perfect for summer day cruise and this lake huge, a must see by boat. All the local marinas are helpful and happy to have your business. We hope all guests enjoy our place this much and more. We try very hard to offer clean nice accommodations and a welcome package with lots of area activities and more.
