Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you all for another enjoyable weekend at your cabin Hidden Cove. Once again we checked into a super clean place with a warm bubbling hot tub. Loved all the new furniture. The sofa is extremely comfortable and the new dinning room set is adorable. New stain out side even new deck furniture. Everyone in our group appreciates how well you keep your place up. The roads are paved and its easy to get a round. We made it into town in less than 20 mins. Notice too some new stores that opened. Love the new restaurants that you told us about in our welcome package. Suba's has some excellent food selections especially their deserts. I appreciated the heads up on the dishwasher. Sears was in and out in 30 mins after replacing with a new one. It worked great too. We also appreciated the bottle of Champagne, how nice of you to remember our wedding anniversary. You guys do a great job and we'll continue to return every year. Please reserve the spring race dates for 2015. We look forward to our return trip. If you send us the link we'll post our review where ever you like or you are welcome to Post on our behalf.

Hidden Cove had all we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at Watauga Lake. The views from this Mtn cabin were majestic!! The cabin was well maintained, The furnishings & beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with ample cookware and dishes. The outdoor decks were great for sitting and taking in the view, very peaceful. The canoe was a great plus, we paddled up the river and back, was just an awesome time. We finished up each night by the outdoor fire pit or in the hot tub. This cabin really had lots to offer and we can't wait to come back!!

Very Nice stay at a great place.

  • 5 of 5

The view was perfect, loved the fire pit and hot tub and used each evening. The weather was pleasant, not too hot but just right. The place was clean as advertised. The reservation process was very easy and we were afforded payment options which we really appreciate. This rental agency alakecabin4u has several properties in this area. Wish I had realized all their choices at the time of booking so friends could join us. We'll save that for next year.

Beautiful cabin in a wonderful place

  • 4 of 5

Overall the experience was phenomenal! The cabin was well kept and very comfortable! The lake is beautiful clean and well maintained. There are a few things I would have liked to have known prior to choosing this cabin over the others. They charge a considerable amount of money as a cleaning fee. Once you arrive (which it was difficult to distinguish which cabin was yours) you will find a list of cleaning chores you MUST do prior to leaving. If the chores are not done than you are subject to more fees. I assumed the cleaning fee would take care of whatever mess you leave. The fire place is beautiful and really sets the mood of the cabin, especially since you are in the mountains and it can get chilly and rainy. We were able to light the fireplace the first night…no problem. The second night we could not get it to light. We then found instructions that said we would have to pay if we contacted maintenance.

Overall, the place was gorgeous! I would definitely come back and would recommend this cabin to anybody. I felt that the owners and service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The dock from the cabin was down the road and then further down a steep hill. Getting our kayaks in and out of the lake presented a challenge but it was definitely a great adventure.

Besides the "milking" of our money I thought this cabin was ideal! It was gorgeous and comfortable.

I look forward to spending more time in the smoky mountains and am happy to have taken this vacation.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay at Hidden Cove Cabin. Its is a well kept cabin as you mentioned & very cozy. Watauga lake is gorgeous & the 3rd cleanest lake in America. Google maps is what most use to get to the property, most guests get there without delay. Navigational devices are helpful too when you need a little extra help. This cabin is in plain site & a large sign, too. Yes, housekeeping does charge a standard fee for their services. This way guests can pretty much pack up and walk out the door when their vacation is over. The cleaning fee as well as a break down of taxes are displayed to all guests online prior to payment being accepted. All guests view a break down of all fees prior to payment. There are no chores for guests but a list of things for guests to follow upon check out. Locating TV remotes, adjusting the thermostat so that air or heat isn't running on high, locking doors & windows upon leaving. Its more about leaving a home in a respectable manner. Our housekeepers are great at what they do .. Mop, vacuum, change lines, laundry and haul off guest trash & burn it, its about six hours of work to turn this cabin & just a few things guests are asked to do so that the next family checking in isn't inconvenienced. During the summer months air conditioners are in use, fireplaces produce heat - they are opposing forces & should not be used at the same time as air-conditions. We hope all guests can come to our home, have a great time & leave our place in order. Thanks for doing your share & helping us maintain our vacation home. We're glad you were able to enjoy.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your kind words. They are most appreciated and our staff here at alakecabin4u appreciates the kind words and the extra effort and time it takes to write a nice review. Everyone here works very hard to insure the properties are clean and in good working order. We do try and make reserving easy and accept online payments with credit cards, debit cards, echeck, PayPal or guests can mail a paper check the old fashion way. We all look forward to having you all again as guests.

Great property with a beautiful view!!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this cabin for your next mountain getaway! The accommodations were very welcoming. Having a coded door started off the weekend wonderful because we were able to arrive as late as possible without having to physically check-in with someone beforehand. The amount of supplies, such as toilet paper, hand soap, towels, etc was in abundance compared to what we expected since we brought our own extra just in case; and we were delighted that there was Pam cooking spray! Rose was a wonderful housekeeper that allowed us to have a late check-out, even though we ended up not using because we didn't want her getting home late since snowy weather was in the forecast for that afternoon. Very comfortable beds! The hot tub was a perfect temperature of 100 degrees, which allows you to stay in for a long time without overheating :)

Disclaimer... If snowing, make sure to have 4wd or Awd vehicle! The road to get to the drive way is very steep! But once to the driveway, it has a dual driveway which is very handy since some cars might not want to park on a slope.

We had a fantastic weekend and will definitely keep this cabin in mind for our next stay!

Nice place. Could be even better with just a few tweaks.

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I have stayed in these cabins several times. They are in good condition, in beautiful locations. We will be staying in them again. That said, there are some minor problems that prevent me from making this a five star. For example, if something is not working when you arrive (grill, gas fireplace, hot tub, etc.), then it will be difficult for you to reach someone about it. There is a number for a maintenance guy, but he won't return your call until later on and won't be able to come help you until the next day, meaning your are out of luck for one day with whatever problem it was. With two cabins I had trouble using the gas fireplace because the pilot light was out and there were no instructions. Fortunately, I was able to get help from U-tube to know how to light the pilot light, but it was an hour that I rather would have spend enjoying my stay. There are supposed to be emergency keys for people who lock themselves out of their cabin, but a person at a neighboring cabin got locked out and so came to our cabin to request help. Fortunately we were able to get a hold of the cleaning lady who came out and let her in. I checked and my emergency key was also not to be found. I recommend you leave a window unlocked if you go out to use the hot tub, just in case, so you don't end up walking around the area in a towel looking for help! Don't let these things scare you away, because they are nice and as I said, I will be staying there again. We have had no problems getting our security deposit back.

Owner's Response: As this guest mentions these are nice, newer properties in great locations with everything in working order. Prior to guests arrival cabins are cleaned & checked by housekeeping. If something needs attention maintenance is called before guests arrival. Most guests light the pilot light themselves & may have to do it a couple of times during their stay because pilot lights can blow out. However, if someone isn't able to light it themselves then yes, they can call maintenance. We have help in the area to assist guests but unlike Marriott or Hilton we do not a 24 hour 'on call' maintenance department. Calls for igniting fireplace aren't emergencies. Our maintenance personal will come by in a timely manner. You are right, instructions on how to light a pilot light can be easily googled, followed & your fireplace could be working in moments if you take the initiative. There are also instructions on the mantle above the fire place on its operation. Sorry that you missed seeing the instructions, they are metal cards that come attached to the fireplace whenever one is purchased. It was so nice of you to allow the neighboring guest the use of your house phone when their small child locked them out. Yes, our housekeepers are great and nice enough to get up out of the bed late at night, come over & let them back into their cabin. When the housekeeper came over she pointed out the hidden key & used it to open up their door. Hidden Keys & their locations are disclosed to guests in private emails so they can get in if the lock fails. Our staff provides contact number for guests to call if need be. From reservations to housekeeping & maintenance every member of our team is here to insure you have an enjoyable stay.

The great room offers an open floor plan combining living area, dining room and kitchen. This allows everyone to be together whether cooking, watching TV & playing board games at the dining room table. Folks who are on Deck are just off the great room and just a yell away. The large six person hot tub is on deck too secluded on the side of the home overlooking the water and mtn range. Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer: You are able to bring and park trailers and boats * Lake View: with boat slip and canoe just a few mins walk. You have an absolutely gorgeous view of the lake and Cherokee National Forest * Mountain View: Cherokee National forest * Boat rentals at the Local marina's.
