This house is situated on a 4 mile sandy beach 90 freeway miles below the US border. Walled and gated property. Friendly community.
The kitchen has all the amenities. The family room, and kitchen overlook the ocean surf at the Todos Santos Island and Bufadora (Mexico,s Old Faithful Geyser).
There is Satellite TV and High Speed wireless Internet with a DVD player and a collection of DVDs and games for the kids. No telephone. There are surfboards, boogie boards and a tent for the kids if they want to sleep outside under the stars.
There is a large outdoor entertainment area that contains adry waterfall, Mexican fire pit, outdoor table and chairs, a Bougainvillea covered gazebo and a BBQ .In the front is a tiled patio area where you can look at thesurf and watch the Seagulls, Dolphins, and Pelicans.
Whether you want a family getaway or a romantic tranquil setting, this house will meet your expectations.
Homeaway House : Notice that in the photos the picture shows 2 houses. The front one, closest to the beach is the one in Homeaway. The back one, that is 2 stories is our personal one which we use infrequently.
In the back yard there is a waterfall, that spills into two pools. At present it is turned off, but is still nice to look at as you sit in the Bougainvillea covered gazebo.
Privacy: This house has a lot of privacy. It is one of the few houses that is surrounded by a wall. Entrance is restricted by a locked front gate. There is a locked double gate to the car park that has to be opened from the inside. There is room for 3 cars. There is a gravelled lane that runs down the side of the house to the entrance to the above gates.
There is a Mexican guard house at the begining of the road . The guard patrols intermittenly, on foot and by bicycle.
There are 2 restrictions.
1 No toilet paper in the toilet. There is a recepticle beside each toilet for paper waste. All the houses on the spit have septic tanks and paper clogs the toilets,
2. Noise qurfew after 1030.p.m. in consideration of local residents.
Location: This house is in a rural costal area in Northern Baja. No train or air access. Transportation is by car via a good four lane freeway. Fishing is good and you can rent a boat at 'Pango Boats' for a 1/2-1 day trip. (Cod, Snapper, Bass). A fun afternoon is to go to Bufadora, Mexico's blow hole, where there are many vendors selling all the way from trinkets to good Mexica leather goods. Our favorite restaurant there is 'Habana Banana'. The largest town is Ensenada, an exciting area where the ocean liners put in twice a week. There are great restaurants and shopping. There are American stores,(Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Costco). North of Ensenaday you can explore 7 different wineries. If you are looking for a nearly deserted beach just for yourself, this is it. The beach is wide, sandy, shallow and safe for kids.It is great for all water activities. There are horses to rent or take a ride on an ultra-lite plane. There is golf at the Baja Beach and Country Club about 45 minutes away.

This area has so many hidden gems! Really pay attention to directions as it is so easy to get lost. We got to the house and immediately headed to La Miranda the closest eatery which is also walking distance. We quickly befriended the owner and the bartender and locals, who were all so nice. The owner Jorge got us the hookups for horses on the beach at sunset, a pontoon boat ride in the morning to a little island, it was gorgeous and really reasonably priced. For lunch we did not even order off the menu and gorged on yummy fried shrimp tacos and chimichangas. Then back to the house to unpack. The house is cute with beautiful large windows overlooking the ocean. If you are expecting a spotless villa with no cricks or wonks you will be mistaken. It is a beach place in Mexico, no La Jolla! The evening we hung out and spend time unsuccessfully trying to make a fire in fireplace, no skills I guess! Sponges, toilet papers, hand wash ect are all provided which is great. In the morning we watched dolphin pods and groups of birds while we sipped coffee. The fridge is dated and some of our refrigerated food froze. The beds had a good amount of blankets on them and were freshly made up for our arrival. Mattresses are ok if you are one person, not two. The standing electric heaters helped keep the house warmer when temps dropped. My biggest issues was the water, which is shipped in and you have to measure to make sure you have enough throughout the stay if they have not recently filled it up. There is zero water pressure and while we could get hot water to go through one shower and all faucets(even the one with the other shower), we could never get the other shower to run even warm. Given that the faucet in the bathroom that shares the shower had hot water, something is off with the shower. So cleaning up either in the kitchen or ourselves in the shower turned out to be a challenge. Also not being able to flush toilet paper down the toilet would have been good to know in advance. I asked around and some houses have septic and shipped in water and some have normal . Good to ask before! It was great to have surf boards and boogie boards provided, wished they provided a nice big shovel for the natural hot springs you can dig right down in the beach! We saw other people had made huge pools! The town itself is a blast albeit quiet. We never felt unsafe and everyone was super nice.
Nice owners who helped with minor issues. Water heater is tankless and seemed to work rarely so be prepared for cold then scalding water. The place is nice and has a great location in the sandy beach. It is a little remote so be prepared that everything is a drive. The directions provided by owners are dated and a little confusing. Easiest way is to gps "juniors bar and restaurant" in Ensenada and it's about a mile south from there. Horseback riding is available at entrance off main road. The ultralight plane gives rides ride off the beach. Seemed safe and I am writing this review so I survived! La Bufadora is a tourist place about 20 minutes away. It is very flea marketish but is still interesting side trip. Mama Bear pizza is run by expat who seems legit in clean, real Mexican/American/pizza. It is only decent place that was clean we found in area
Lovely spot! Has all the amenities you need to have a weekend at the beach! The views and the oceanfront are stunning and it's a great spot to go if you're looking for a relaxing getaway. It is pretty remote, so as long as you're looking for quiet relaxation, this is the place for you.
The owners were super accommodating, and even offered to ship a jacket that was left behind.
We had an amazing time with the family and the home was very nice and cozy, definitely we will do it again next summer, excellent customer service and friendly neighborhood, highly recommended.
This is our second time staying. First time was during February a couple of years ago. We didn't get to enjoy the beach due to cold weather then but we knew we had to come back in the summer. And so glad we did! And this time we stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful views from the house and the easy access to the beach. The entire family played baseball and volleyball on the beach. Had breakfast overlooking the beautiful views of ocean. We had extended family visit us on Sunday for some carne asada. And they were impressed with the house too. It was clean, spacious and pretty much had all that we needed for our stay. And all our cars fit in the gated area. Truly had great memories this weekend. Thank you Casa Lee! We plan to be back next summer.
