Thank you for the great stay! The cottage was nice and cozy. Our children enjoyed the swim in the pool! Fantastic views, sunrise was spectacular even in the rain! Beautiful water fall, such a treat to see. Kids liked seeing all of the animals. Thank you. Leina and Keith
This is a long overdue review. After a week in the Waikoloa resort area, we spent 3 nights at the cottage over New Year's. It was a beautiful rural setting and was our home base for exploring Hilo and VNP. It exceeded my expectations and we didn't want to leave. Concerned about how busy and loud it would be for NYE, we decided to stay in. The small dogs came and visited with us and our 4 year old son for a couple hours. What a treat at midnight when fireworks started going off close by. We sat and watched from the porch.
The only challenges were that we couldn't figure out how to work the VCR and the wifi wasn't great. But that's not why we were on vacation, so it wasn't a big deal. Probably the only regret is that we only hiked down to the waterfall once. It is beautiful and wish we had time to go again. Steve was a great host and we enjoyed our conversations in the hot tub on several evenings.
The abundance of animals was a real treat. Some mornings we would wake up and the horses were right outside our window in the pasture! An amazing setting! If we are back in the Hilo area we would definitely stay at the Pu'u Moi Cottage.
Our stay at the cottage was fantastic! Our kids (4-yrs & 18-mo) absolutely loved the property (swimming pool, waterfall, farm animals, dogs, etc.). This was the second time we've stayed at the cottage -- and will certainly not be our last!
cozy and comfortable; owners were very accommodating; enjoyed our visit
This place is beyond amazing, with the host and hostess ensuring every last detail is handled with ease. This is an experience not to be missed
What a piece of paradise in the country! You really can't find a better setting..surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers and all the lovely farm animals. We were about 10 minutes north of Hilo, which was a perfect home base to explore this side of the island. The cottage itself is perfectly equipped and so comfortable. The only issue was barely functioning wifi, but they were in the middle of switching service so we understood. It was nice to have the option of the pool and hot tub, although we didn't get to spend much time there. Steve was a friendly host and we enjoyed our conversations, as well as the 3 little dogs that kept us company. He even brought us fresh squeezed OJ one day! We're already excited to return again! I can't recommend this property highly enough. Thank you for a fantastic stay.
The owners are extra nice and even had a Christmas tree for us. The property was beautiful, the cottage charming and hot tub great! If we return to Hilo I would definitely want to stay there!!
We are located on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island in the town called Papaikou. Papaikou was once a thriving sugar cane plantation where charming homes of the past still stand. Papaikou is located 7 miles form Hilo.
