My husband owns his own fast paced insurance business and I am a school nurse. We always feel like it's 'Christmas' when on our drive down to Lake Barkley!
Phyllis-Property Manager purchased this house in 2002
We love the warm and friendly people in Cadiz. We always wanted to own a waterfront home and fell in love with Lake Barkley the first time we visited. This home is our place to retreat from the busy pace of life and return relaxed and recharged.
Our home on Lake Barkley is a comfortable, fully equipped home, yet has the charm and rustic feel of a resort. When we are there, we are on vacation.
We gathered from Kansas City, North Carolina. and Georgia for
a rare family Thanksgiving,a 70 th birthday (70) celebration.
Thank you for giving us this opportunity so late in the year
This was our first experience with HomeAway and I was very impressed. The property manager was wonderful, she answered questions quickly and was very friendly. The property was very clean and we loved that it was fully stocked with everything we needed (kitchen stuff, towels, bedding). The stairs were a bit tough for the kids, but they managed just fine. Only downside is that the water was very muddy so we weren't able to swim much and we didn't catch many fish. Overall, though, it was a great experience. Thanks Phyllis!
We enjoyed our summer holiday here among the trees and the water. The screened in porch proved to one of our favorite spots. The 100+ stairs down to the water provided an aerobic workout. For those of us that love to spend time cooking with one another, the kitchen was a bit small. But... if you're not wanting to spend your vacation in the kitchen, this kitchen was clean, fully equipped and easy for one. This was really delightful place and one we would definitely consider should we find ourselves in Kentucky again!
We had a wonderful time staying at this cozy tree top house! The place was clean and had everything you would need for a great stay. The view is incredible! There were plenty of trees for privacy around the house, nice decks on the back of the house to hangout and a nice dock on the water. The steps go pretty high up and the water around us was pretty muddy. We really didn't want to swim around the dock, but we rented a pontoon so it didn't matter to us. Overall though it was a great stay and would love to come back one day!
We have lost two very dear Family members in the last year. Our family had always made many memories at Kentucky Lake since back in the Fifties and continuing with both Kentucky and Barclay Lakes through recent years. We decided to have another family reunion at Lake Barclay and Phyllis made it happen. What a wonderful time sharing all the fun memories from the past. The house had a magnificent view and was fully equipped to meet all of our needs. Who needs WiFi when you can set on a screened in porch and watch the all the boats and jet skis fly by! It was AWESOME! Yes there are steps down to the dock, but we all went down and back up. That included our 88 year old Dad! He was a trooper! Thanks again to Phyllis for making sure everything was perfect and following up on any needs! We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend time on Lake Barclay!!!!
This is a very nice lakefront rental home with outstanding views of Lake Barkley that offers all of the amenities of home. Our family's favorite time was spent on the screened in porch overlooking the Lake with a cup of coffee or an adult beverage. It also provides a dock for your boat and/or fishing and/or swimming. It comfortably sleeps and accommodates eight adults. We enjoyed grilling on the gas grill, and cooked large breakfasts in the fully furnished kitchen. This house has everything, and is very professionally managed by Phyllis. She is very detail oriented, and ensures every visitor is 100% satisfied.
We had a great time here on our stay at Lake Barkley. The house is a cute cozy fishing cottage with all the needed amenities (although wifi would have been helpful!). While this house was cozy, there is plenty of room for large groups. We stayed here with my two children, and both sets of grandparents. Everyone felt comfortable and had plenty of room to spread out and relax.
The stairs are a bit difficult after going up and down so much. I have two small children and the first time down with them was scary but after that they were fine. My kids knew they were not allowed on the stairs without an adult. If your children do not follow rules well, I would caution against this house because the stairs could be dangerous and child proofing is not really possible at this house.
We cooked out on the grill most nights and ate on the nice deck. I sat on the deck in the mornings and enjoyed the beautiful view and great weather. We also enjoyed time at the Land Between The Lakes while not fishing. We would definitely come back.
