Española House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 4 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 10-14)

Welcome to your own private desert resort. This 5-bedroom luxury home overlooking the Rio Grande Valley, Jemez Mountains, and the Black Mesa. Includes an outdoor hot tub, indoor sauna, private flagstone patio, vine-covered pergola, a rock goldfish pond, custom-made iron gates, and breathtaking views from nearly every window.

Designed by the Chicago architect William Keck in 1942, the passive-solar building originally was the Los Alamos schoolhouse (where the children of the Manhattan Project studied) before being moved to this spur of land above the Rio Grande. The modern kitchen includes a double oven and a copper-hooded restaurant-style stove, while the dining room seats 12 and has a massive stone fireplace. Navajo rugs, art pieces, and paintings decorate the house, which includes a sunny living room (also with a fireplace) and a private study, while the bedrooms and four full bathrooms are each furnished in a distinct style. A sun room leads out to the patio, hot tub and views. Both wings have their own master bedroom with private bath, as well as a washer dryer.

A short stroll through the cottonwoods takes you to the Rio Grande; the famous El Santuario de Chimayo is 15 minutes away, Santa Fe is a beautiful 25-minute drive, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs is 30 minutes away, and Taos lies 45 minutes to the north as does Georgia O'Keefe's Ghost Ranch. Three ski areas are in the vicinity as well. But you may want to stay home and enjoy the views.

We WELCOME weddings and parties for an additional event fee of $750 per event. Three night minimum on all events. Cleaning fee is $350. Security deposit $1000 for reservations that are hosting an event.

Thanks so much. We had a fabulous weekend!

This house is wonderful. The views are breath-taking, hot tub was good and really enjoyed. The walk to the river was just right. Your house is amazing, gourmet kitchen, antiques and light fixtures, navajo rugs and pots, art and photos so special. Large table and plenty of dishes was so appreciated, beds and bedding, bathrobes and plenty of showers/tubs/sauna was perfect for our retreat.

Quiet, secluded, spacious. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

We arrived from all parts of the country and at different times and the owners bent over backwards to accommodate our early and late arrivals and departures, Thank you. The home was well stocked with many extras, comfortable beds, nice furnishings, well stocked kitchen, towels, etc.

We loved spending our mornings and evenings on the back porch area visitings and enjoying the view while watching the kids play in their beatiful back yard. We had five couples and four grandkids and there was plenty of space, bathrooms, dining facilities, living room and no one felt crowded.

The owners with any issues were taken care of right away and very accommodating, again thank you,

We really enjoyed out stay and plan on going back.

Reminders of Georgia O'Keeffe

  • 5 of 5

Your location is wonderful. Part of our activities was to visit the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. The views from your house would have inspired her. It was almost like looking at one of her more realistic paintings.

The house met our needs and we very much enjoyed all aspects of our stay. It was close enough to Santa Fe and Bandolier to enjoy them, yet isolated enough for us to really enjoy our family reunion!!!

Thank you!

Exceeds Expectations

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to stay in a beautiful home with a beautiful view this is it. I highly recommend this home.

My husband and I had our wedding here and it was absolutely wonderful! The view is amazing, I went in January to make sure that is where we wanted to have our wedding and the snow on the mountains was beautiful. Then when we actually had our wedding in May everything was a gorgeous green. The home itself is very spacious with 4 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms (I think I'm counting right) + a loft so we were able provide the entire wedding party with beds. The kitchen is huge! Which makes cooking for a ton of people much nicer, you can have 6 people milling around and you still aren't cramped for space.

Amrit is fantastic and was super helpful with all of our questions. She also has a very sweet dog who hung out with us over the weekend. It is also about 30 minutes North of Santa Fe and there are several casinos close by so there is a lot to do in the surrounding area.

Fantastic house!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Amrit's house was nothing short of fantastic. The house had everything we could need and many extras such as hand lotion by every sink to counteract the dry air .Amrit was patient and helpful with my many questions. We thoroughly enjoyed the yard with swings for the youngest and a hammock for the ones needing a little rest but the best part of the yard was the amazing view. Sunset was beyond words! Then came the 4 days of cool rain (no that is not normal) but the large living room and eat-in kitchen were plenty large enough for the 8 of us to spread out and not feel cramped. The entire house was decorated both for function as well as beauty. As if the house was not perfect enough the location was close to Santa Fe, Taos, Chimayo and the Rio Grand but in a very quiet spot. Every one of us expressed the hope that we could go back there again which is the highest recommendation I can give.

Perfect for large groups with kids

  • 5 of 5

We had a large family get together. It was perfect. Plenty of living space as well as bedrooms. It did not feel like we were too crowded. Three bedrooms on separate ends with a total of 4 bathrooms made for comfortable accommodations. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing meals. The hot tub and yard were great for all the kids to play. We would definitely recommend it for your next vacation.

This place is MAGICAL!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot express just how lovely this property was. Pure magic and joy. We went with a group of 14 people total, on a little retreat to recollect ourselves for the weekend. We've done this sort of thing multiple times, and lemme tell you... This property is the best yet.

The house was impeccable, with decor that was interesting, beautiful, and tasteful. Everything in this house carried care. Amazing blankets and linens and beds. Gorgeous artwork. Fantastic lighting options.

We took a gorgeous walk down to the river, set in a serene and quaint country setting. The hot tub was bliss and was big enough for many of us. The neighbors were kind and welcoming. The view was amazing, watching amazing sunsets and clouds roll by. And the best part? The property owner was so down to earth and caring and available.

Seriously. We had a life-changing time at this property. You should too! :)
