La Petite Maison, 'The Little House', is a beautiful home built in the 1870's. The home is set on a truly beautiful southern setting with gorgeous 200 year old live oak trees surrounding it. The home is on 8 acres of very secluded property that includes a beautiful Cabana and pier with a gorgeous view. Renovated in 2008, the home retains its antique look and feel. This New Orleans style home has beaded board walls and 12 foot ceilings throughout with an open floor plan.
The Kitchen is quite large with all new appliances and beautiful copper countertops. A large bar is attached to the kitchen island with four bar stools. The dining table is built from southern cypress and measures nearly seven feet in diameter with seating for eight. All dishes, utensils, pots & pans are provided.
The master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has two twin beds with an additional trundle if needed. The living room has two very comfortable sofas and a large LCD HD Television. DirecTV programming is available. Wireless broadband internet access is also provided.
There are two spacious porches on the front and back of the home as well as a separate concrete patio area canopied by live oak trees with custom made BBQ pit, hammock and swing.
Historic Downtown Hammond has great shopping and a variety of excellent locally owned restaurants. A newly constructed shopping center with major retail stores and movie theater is also located in Hammond, just 10 minutes away. Ponchatoula, LA is Hammond's sister city known for it's antique shops that line the cities downtown area.
The French Quarter is only an hour drive south down scenic Interstate 55. On the way is Middendorf's restaurant... The best seafood platter around!
The home is not in a subdivision which provides guests with a relaxing, private and super quiet getaway that is also close to New Orleans and other interesting south Louisiana locations.
La Petite Maison is also available for Executives and Corporate Rentals. We can arrange for short and long term rentals depending on availability. Snowbirds are welcome, escape the freezing temperatures of the north and enjoy south Louisiana's warmer climate.

My husband and I celebrated our 27th anniversary/much needed getaway at this beautiful property! The house was gorgeous, very private, quite and very relaxing. It is close enough to New Orleans for us to spend a day and the next to visit a beautiful plantation, Oak Ally. The last day was spent relaxing by the lake. Clay, THANK YOU for opening your wonderful home and for being so nice and making us feel welcomed. We will definitely be back!
We stayed a week at this property. Relatives met us there and no one wanted to leave. The house is beautiful and very clean. The grounds are gorgeous. The guys fished in the pond and totally enjoyed it. We drove into New Orleans several times. We didn't have enough time to do everything we wanted to do so we will have to return. You can bet that this house will be our first choice for lodging. It is a very relaxing setting. Very peaceful and quiet. There is enough things to do nearby to keep you busy but you may be tempted to just stay at the house and relax while enjoying the property.
I am still speechless about this property. Words and photos truly do not do it justice. It's a slice of heaven here on earth. Everything far exceeded my expectations. Clay greeted me upon my arrival (on his tractor) and then I was left at peace for the remainder of my stay. The property is clearly well loved and maintained, the home was warm and welcoming, the beds were comfortable and the scenery was breathtaking!
I look forward to returning with friends and family for many years to come! Absolutely gorgeous!
I was absolutely blown away by this rental. The pictures really don't do it justice as it is utterly gorgeous. I was greeted by the owner (he pulled up on a tractor) and had more than anything I could ever dream of needing. The home is gorgeous inside and out. The space is VERY well maintained. The grounds are beautiful. The beds are comfortable. Words really can't do it justice (just as photos can't). I was tempted NOT to write a review because I want to keep this place a secret but that's just selfish and so here I am, shouting from my laptop, how stunningly wonderful this rental is. I can't wait to bring friends and family back for many years to come!
Our stay at this private dwelling was not long enough! I needed a place to recoup from a medical procedure and this was just what we needed. Owners were helpful and we enjoyed the time that was spent explaining some history of the area. Beautiful copper counters, giant dining table, comfortable beds, roomy and 2 bathrooms. Thanks for your hospitality and sharing the bounty from your land. Betty Ann
My son and I stayed here in April and it was such an enjoyable experience. The house has been beautifully remodeled but still keeps it's 1870 charm. The flow of the house is perfect with a terrific open living room with high ceilings that flows into the kitchen and dining areas. There are big windows throughout so the house has great light. The bedrooms are large and the baths are modern and the whole house was super clean. The setting is fantastic with huge old Great Oaks trees complete with Spanish moss....AND there is a gorgeous pond filled with fish that my son enjoyed catching (and releasing!) while I lounged on the wonderful deck area and read. This is a terrific home in a lovely wooded (and very friendly)neighborhood and we are actually going back for a second visit in June. This is THE house in the area!
