Everyone needs a Place to retreat, relax, refresh, rejuvenate. A Place to experience and enjoy. A Place to Laugh with your loved ones. We have a beautiful, peaceful, comfy (1500 sq ft) cabin on the edge of a national forest where the stars are close enough to touch, the wind murmurs over the mountains and through the trees, the wildlife (elk, deer, bear, mountain lions, mountain sheep, coyotes, and hundreds of birds and other small critters) are at home. Yet there is unique shopping, dining and entertainment within easy driving distance. Come Learn new things about the wonders of our world, Love the mountains and crisp mountain air, Laugh often and loudly. Come Learn, Love and Laugh! Everyone Needs a Laughing Place!

Why the Owner Chose Drake: We love this location because it borders Roosevelt National Forest, giving us abundant space, quiet and peaceful tranquility. It is conveniently located close to the beauty and majesty of Rocky Mountain National Park. Estes Park is a unique community we enjoy visiting all year round.

We come here to retreat: rest, rejuvenate, reconnect. Our children bring friends. Our family reunions happen here. Long weekends here are highly anticipated. The days are spectacular and we love to spend the quiet evenings reading, snoozing, visiting, playing games, working puzzles, Laughing! We hope you find this little spot in the mountains as special as we do.

Heaven on earth!

  • 5 of 5

Our week there in September could not have been more perfect! House, yard, gazebo, views, our list could go on and on. We've never stayed in such a well stocked and clean vacation home, we lacked for nothing. Being able to have our dog with us was great, he was completely at ease there. We would absolutely recommend this beautiful, quiet, peaceful place - we hated to leave, and hope to be back someday! We thank you for sharing this amazing place with us!

We'll be back

  • 5 of 5

The Laughing Place is not some posh luxury retreat. Instead, it is perfect. Clean. Comfortable. Relaxing. Lots of wildlife (we saw mule deer, great horned owls and bald eagles right outside). And the location: awesome. We're adventurers. We sample our locations once before moving on to try something else. This is the first place we can see ourselves coming back to year after year.

Nice escape from everyday hustle and bustle!

  • 5 of 5

Very nice accomodations in Colorado backcountry! Enjoyed many hours sitting on your upper deck perusing the surrounding mountains. Also enjoyed the hummingbirds! When I walked out on the deck in my red hat, they buzzed me, and continued to do so. Fun! Lots of provisions provided in the kitchen. Nice furniture and beds too. Smooth transaction through VRBO, but no personal contact with owner. Sorta missed that. Anyway, a great Colorado experience and yes, we would love to come back!

Mountain escape

Perfect base for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. Our kids loved playing in the rocks, and everyone enjoyed the horseshoe game. Would love to return to the Laughing Place.

Great Break-Away Place

  • 5 of 5

A perfect mix of isolation and closeness to Estes Park and RMNP for our family of 6.

The cabin had all the amenities needed to enjoy our stay. A dishwasher and washer/dryer meant we were not really roughing it either.

The upper deck was a favourite place at night to star watch and the closeness to RMNP made day trips easy.

It was obvious that the owners had spent a lot of time and effort decorating the interior with just the right item/light/figure.

We would definitely recommend this cabin and stay there again.

Small but comfortable. Clean and met all our needs.

We had a great time on your property. Close enough to Estes Park but far enough to get away from the crowds. Loved the seclusion, the views and the drive to the property. Loved your horse shoe set up and fire pit. Your house was well equipped with furniture, games and kitchen needs.

The family loved working on the puzzle, and enjoyed the wall puzzles. We would definitely recommend the property to our friends and family.

Gone Fishing? Fishing was excellent in the North Fork and in the Big Thompson Rivers prior to the disastrous flooding in September of 2013. As soon as the rivers are re-established, the fish will return. There is lake fishing in Estes Park and the rivers and lakes of Rocky Mountain National Park
