Scrooge’s my Christmas vacation

  • 1 of 5

The cabin was not clean there was a dead mouse underneath the sink in a trashcan they had no liner in it. The floors were not vacuumed or swept there was mouse droppings throughout the kitchen and in all the dishes the oven was filthy the refrigerator had food that was left over from quite some time we couldn’t get one vehicle up the road even with chains. When I called the owner she said they don’t usually rent in the winter why she picked our Christmas vacation to rent out I do not know. It was bitter cold the floor vents for the heat heat up one The beds upstairs.the bedding including the beds were left over from the 80’s as well as Tv and VHS. Mine had a patched hole in it! Beds were horrible and hard bunk bed has no rail so not usable. We left two days early due to snow coming in spent two days cleaning. Will not come back. I am asking for my cleaning fee returned owner said she had someone else clean but did not offer to clean it!

Owner's Response: I don't know what to say in response other than I am sorry that you had such an unhappy experience. There were multiple warnings in the posting and in our conversations about the bad roads in winter and, unfortunately I cannot control the weather. The weather prior to your visit was beautiful, and I'm sorry you picked the coldest week of our winter to come to Colorado. I had not been up to clean myself and I can only apologize for the condition of the kitchen. I will be more watchful in the future. The house is not advertised as being updated, but rather as a comfortable escape from modern life and its pressures. We have never had a guest mention the beds being uncomfortable in all the years we have rented and we stay on them ourselves without discomfort. There is a rail on the bunk if you had placed the ladder on instead of pushing it behind the bed. I am sorry you did not appreciate our home and hope you were able to enjoy the spectacular scenery, the fresh air, the snow gently falling while you sat around the fire and the time with your family.

Grateful for this Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5

This was my second time renting the place out, and it was every bit as wonderful as I remembered. I am a youth leader, and I have been taking my students up there for retreats. On the drive back home, the students were raving about how much they love this beautiful spot. I am grateful for the opportunity to take them here to find some rest.

A Pleasant stay and great surroundings

  • 4 of 5

We were thankful for our time at laughing place. The setting was beautiful and the house was a nice standard and convenient for our larger group. It was a bit further to Estes Park than we anticipated, but not at all a problem.

We would definitely recommend Laughing Place and hope we can return another day.

fun place for a family weekend

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the house. Plenty of room to spread out. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen well-stocked, which made cooking there very easy. The fact that 34 was closed made it harder to get into Estes. But the drive was beautiful.

Beautiful home on a beautiful piece of land

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful, well-kept and on a truly gorgeous piece of property. Its important to note that there is no cell service for most and no WiFi which means you may have to travel 15-20mins to get a signal (or stop by the restaurant at the Bed and Breakfast down the road). This is not a real problem for most and its the perfect mountain getaway house!

The owners are also super helpful and accommodating!!

Thank you!!
