Backed up to the Ouachita National Forest, and perched upon a hilltop, the Buena Vista Cottage gazes down upon one of the best views The Pea Patch Ranch has to offer. Enjoy a glass of iced tea from the front porch while watching the calves play -- or take an easy stroll down to the Caddo River for a cool dip in a private swimming hole. There are no schedules in The Pea Patch.
Buena Vista Cottage is a private Ouachita hideaway that sleeps six comfortably. The cottage home is a two-bedroom, two-full-bath arrangement, one queen bed, one full bed, hide-a-bed sofa. Satellite TV in den and queen room. Washer & dryer, 2-car carport. All linens are provided. Our large, fully equipped kitchen will make even a gourmet cook smile.
The Cottage's spacious den spans out to a remarkable glass solarium, which offers the most breathtaking view on the Ranch.
The best place to stay and play , Bridgett and Marty are wonderful host . They made us feel very welcome from start to finish. The property is amazing . Can't go wrong if you choose to stay here. Close to all kayak rentals and great eats.
This was our third time to stay at Buens Vista. It is one of the most peaceful and comfortable places we have ever stayed. We've always gone in November to enjoy the fall leaves and to walk. The leaves were spectacular tis year and last. On each visit it's been too cold to swim, but the river looks inviting and we enjoy just watching it flow by. This time Bridget told us about the walking trails that we hadn't discovered on our prior trips and we got in two nice hikes through the hilly and wooded portion of the ranch.
We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time and look forward to our return.
We really enjoyed our stay at Buena Vista cottage! Bridget and Marty were gracious and helpful hosts. The cottage is extremely comfortable and family friendly, and the farm itself is a delight to explore. The swimming hole was a great (and free!) way to spend many relaxing hours swimming and fishing in the Caddo River. We have vacationed in this area before and highly recommend the many wonderful activities nearby, but this stay we mainly just enjoyed the farm and were perfectly content and entertained. Be sure to pack sturdy shoes for hiking the farm and water shoes for canoeing and playing in the river. We echo the praises of earlier reviewers and highly recommend the Buena Vista cottage to others! Thanks Bridget and Marty for a great stay : )
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Buena Vista Cottage. We spent the Thanksgiving Holiday there and included our relaxing stay in our thanks to our Lord. I don't think you can find a better place to "Get away from it all". While there are plenty of things to do in the nearby area we just wanted to relax. We took several walks on the property, caught a couple of fish in the pond, relaxed down by the river and enjoyed just watching the cows from the house. We think our little Terrier had a better time than we did because we had to run her down and catch her when we had to leave. Bridget and Marty are real nice folks and have a real nice home to share with folks. We brought a lot of stuff with us but they seem to have it covered if you forget something. We will definitely be back and hopefully soon. If you are looking for a wonderful place to relax....you've found it at Buena Vista Cottage.
We had a fabulous time at the Buena Vista house. One of my sons wanted to move this house to our hometown and replace our house with this one. We felt that comfortable in the home.
The acreage is beautful! We spent several relaxing hours in the river on the property, and the boys especially loved catching the fish in the fishing pond beside the cows. The bass our ten-year-old caught was the biggest fish he's ever caught. He was so proud.
Thank you for such a relaxing, comfortable stay!
Our stay at Buena Vista Cottage was just the rest & relaxation we were looking for with our son and friend before he goes off to college in just a few short weeks. We selected this vacation rental because is was located on private land with it's own private access to the clear, cool, spring fed Caddo River. We also rented this property because it was pet friendly; we have four-legged family members, British Labs, that love the water. You will need to drive through a few cow pastures and over a couple small creek beds to reach the river access...it is not within walking distance of the cottage; we were glad to have an older vehicle with us. The owners, Bridget & Marty, were wonderful to work with - they answered all our questions prior to our arrival, met us at the home to give us the tour and also took us to the river access so we'd know how to get there. We brought all our own personal items but they keep this home stocked so if you forget something basic (soap, paper towels, salt/pepper, etc...) no need to worry about going back into town. We would love to return and definitely recommend this property:)
