The Overlook is nestled into the west facing slope on the edge of Yachats overlooking the Yachats River. It affords an uninterrupted view of the river as it flows into the Pacific Ocean kicking up the surf over a broad tidal beach, spouting horns, and rocky outcrops. This home has it all: the peaceful serenity of ocean views plus easy walking distance to the beach or the bustling center of town. Whether you’re in the mood for dining out, watching a movie, or simply unwinding from your fast paced life, at The Overlook you will find the best of both worlds.
After viewing the spectacular sunset from the wrap around balcony or through the ceiling to floor windows in the living/dining area, you can relax in the comfortable living room, cook in the gourmet kitchen, and watch TV or movies on the 40' High Definition LCD panel TV with Surround Sound.
You’ll sleep comfortably in the master bedroom king sized bed. The en-suite bathroom has a jetted tub, separate shower, and large walk-in closet. Downstairs the guest room has a queen sized bed and shares a beautiful bath that includes a large tub with enclosed shower. The 3rd bedroom is set up for the kids with a bunk bed that sleeps 3 and a futon that could sleep 2 more. It has its own 36” TV plus DVD and a Karaoke player!
Leave your car in the ample parking and walk two blocks to the local restaurants and shops. You can visit Luna Sea Fish House to buy your fish or dine there. Close by is the Green Salmon where you can have a cup of organic coffee or tea. Across the street is C&K market for all your grocery needs. Yachats has it all: a Sunday Farmer’s Market, an ice cream shop, gourmet wine shop, bakery, fly fishing shop, general mercantile, and more.
It is also an easy walk to both the South Shore Tidal Beach for fun in the sand and the North Shore 804 Trail which follows along the Yachats spectacular rocky coastline. The Yachats community is especially proud of the newly inaugurated Amanda Trail which winds its way south to the top of Cape Perpetua.
Dogs love the beach and are welcome to join you (2 Maximum) at The Overlook. The balcony can be closed off so your pooch can securely lounge in the sun. There is also a kennel in the garage where your dog can sleep comfortably while you are off shopping or beach combing.
We pride ourselves on our cleanliness. All of the bedding (including mattress pads and blankets) are washed after every rental. We take particular care after we have dog visitors. Our cleaning staff takes the extra time to steam clean the flooring plus they find and remove every nose print from the numerous windows!
Come stay with us for comfortable living with a fabulous view and fun exploring the wonderful village of Yachats.

We are a family who grew up in Oregon and now are raising the next generation around the country and around the globe. Yachats holds a special place in our hearts with fond memories of family retreats at the beach to reconnect despite the expanding boundaries of our lives.
Chris Bobenhausen purchased this house in 2007
When the opportunity arose to give our family time at the coast a more constant and familiar setting without sacrificing convenience to the town, the best beaches, our favorite hikes, or even giving up privacy, how could we pass that up? Some of us fell for the soaking tub, others for the wide view deck which lends itself to savoring a drink and journaling, a few couldn't pass up the updated and well-styled kitchen. For at least one of us, it's possible that the very short walk to fresh roasted espresso first thing in the morning sealed the deal. Our far-flung members allow plenty of time for us to extend access to our home to other families and groups of friends who appreciate the peaceful vigor of the Oregon beaches and don't presently have a permanent piece of that little heaven for themselves.
Couple things that did go wrong though woken up at 2am on Christmas Day due to carbon monoxide detector which was malfunctioning. The tandem bike had a flat tire the blinds in living room didn't work right and the tv upstairs we couldn't get on
But the house is beautiful mesmerized by the view
We had a great time at the overlook. The common area is spacious and open for socializing with plenty of windows to enjoy the view in multiple directions. We found everything we needed at the house and only regret not having more time.
Yachats is a special place and this home sits in the middle of the goodness. Access to the beach, River, The Green Salmon, grocery store, and 804 Trail out the door. We watched whales from the deck and enjoyed the comforts of a well equipped home.
We rented The Overlook for our family gathering. The main floor was large and open. This allowed our family of 10 to fix and eat meals together, watch movies together and all the while with a beautiful view of the ocean. We found the house was well equipped and provided all we needed for our stay. It is ideally located in a quaint little village. Our grandchildren loved the short walk to the ice cream/candy shop. Being the beach is so close, we walked there often as well - sometimes 2-3 times a day to experience the low and high tide. We also took advantage of the many hiking trails nearby. We spent an amazing day at Cape Perpetua with its many beautiful hiking trails, tide pools and sandy beaches.
We highly recommend The Overlook. It is a wonderful house in a great location. However, there is one drawback ... You'll never want to leave!

If you're looking for a place to set up shop for a stay in Yachats, look no further. This house is located within a block of the two best places to eat in town, Luna Sea Fish House and Green Salmon, the grocery store, and pretty much every other place in Yachats. You are also treated to a fantastic view of the bay and ocean from the main living area. We were fortunate to visit while everything was in bloom so the walk into town was beautiful and fragrant.
The house itself was quite nice and had plenty of space to spare even with six people. With so much to do we found ourselves exploring the area instead of spending time indoors.
We were a party of 7 adults and 3 children and we enjoyed the stay in the Overlook. The view is beautiful, and the house within walking distance to town and the ocean front and several excellent restaurants. We particularly enjoyed a breakfast and a dinner (complete with live music) at the Drift Inn, just down the street. We had cocktails on the deck of Ona's, where the service was excellent. The beds were comfortable, the living area had plenty of seating and the kitchen was equipped to meet our needs. We would recommend the Overlook if you are looking for a close in property in the town of Yachats.

Hiking trails are within a few blocks of The Overlook: Amanda Trail, Historic 804 Trail, & Gerdemann Botanical Preserve’s Public Footpath. Look for the trail posts to assist you.
