Relax in comfort & enjoy all of Maui's activities using this remodeled bright & open floor plan 2 bedroom/2 bath, spacious condominium as your Maui retreat. Enjoy the expansive 50 ft window views which include the ocean & the 10,000 ft. mountain, Haleakala (House of the Sun). The 1048 sq. ft. interior space & the lanai combine to give you almost 1200 sq. ft of high quality living area. The new eco-friendly remodeling in a Contemporary Kama'aina (local Hawaiian) style used quality materials & surfaces such as travertine tiles, bamboo flooring, granite counter tops, tiled bath/shower, tiled shower & tiled lanai. A 52' TV (cable), Netflix and a DVD is located in the living room so you can watch sports or your favorite shows or movies on a big screen. Our condo unit A-308 is located in the front building of the newly painted Haleakala Shores complex on the side away from the street and is just a short walk to the ocean and park that you can see from the lanai.

The master bedroom, with direct access to the lanai, has a king bed, tropical decor, a built in computer desk & a 37' TV (cable) with DVD on a wall mounted swivel which will allow you to watch your favorite program from the lanai. A walk-in closet/dressing area with full length mirror connects to a bathroom area with two pedestal sinks & a full size deep tub with tiled shower surround & grab bar.

The second bedroom has a queen size bed. A walk-in closet/dressing area with full length mirror connects to a bathroom with a tiled shower & grab bar. When not used as a bedroom, the bed can be easily stored for maximum living space. A futon couch allows for added sleeping capacity.

The kitchen has a Maytag range/oven, new Frigidaire refrigerator with ice maker, new GE dishwasher, new quiet disposal, microwave & toaster ovens. A new addition is the professional stainless steel cookware. You'll love the many kitchen tools & small appliances that are for your use. A stocked spice rack means you won't need to buy full jars of spices for just one dish. In unit laundry facilities are located in a separate closet.

Attention to details provide for your comfort. The coffee station features a stainless thermos coffee pot to allow you to keep your coffee hot on the lanai or anywhere else in the condo. This area also features a coffee grinder & a cappuccino/expresso maker for your pleasure. You will enjoy our wine chiller that is part of the bar area. Two stations have been built in to allow for easy computer use. Artwork featuring several local artists has been used to enhance the island atmosphere.

This unit is being upgraded constantly. Several game sets have been added for indoor, table top, outdoor & beach use. The newest addition is a Nintendo Wii Game Console with several games and Netflix access.. A CD player with docking ports for Ipod & Mp3 players is now available. In the kitchen, a rice cooker and panini maker has been supplied. A small fold away play pen/crib has been added. A high chair and stroller are also available.

Two air conditioners, two ceiling fans (one in each bedroom), two large and two small tower fans will keep you comfortable. Try using the fans & opening the windows to get the true island experience. Smell the sea air & the flowers.You may have noticed no mention of a furnace. It is not needed ocean side in Maui!!

Enjoy the pool area, the upgraded BBQ with granite counter top & the gazebo at Haleakala Shores. Walk a very short distance to Kamaole III Beach Park. Snorkel equipment, boogie boards, beach towels, mats, beach chairs & an umbrella are available for your use. Like to picnic? A picnic basket stocked with all the utensils & a hard sided cooler with wheels are yours to use at the pool, beach or wherever your Maui adventures takes you.

Haleakala Shores has added a new amenity in the locked pool area. We now have a Surfboard/Kayak Hale (storage area) where you can store a rental board or kayak. Slots are available on a first come first serve basis. You must make arrangements with our Resident Manager Jim Taylor before planning to store any item.

Walk to several restaurants, local shops & along the walking trail that follows the ocean starting in the park across the street. Short drives will take you to the Shops of Wailea & some of Maui's finest restaurants.

Lovely pool with a great tile turtle motif. Pool lanai called the Tiki Lounge that is great for relaxing stocked with many books.

There are two grill areas and several tables and chairs next to the grills or near the grills under a bougainvillea covered gazebo.

The pool area is pleasantly landscaped with beautiful plumeria trees, banana trees, various palm trees and other lush vegetation. It's quiet and relaxing.

A Five Star Condo

The condo at Haleakala Shores is the perfect vacation spot. I have never stayed in such a comfortable, roomy, and well-appointed VRBO. Every time I thought of something I might need to purchase, it was already to be found. The space is very open, and the bed is very comfortable. We slept well every night with the gentle breeze coming in the windows. The lanai is also very enjoyable for relaxing or eating al fresco.

The condo is all about location, location, and location. You are just steps across the street to a lovely park and beach. You are in walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and groceries. On your walk, you can have a mountain view (Haleakala) and beach view. We particularly enjoyed Fred's (Mexican and more for breakfast) and The Five Palms. Kihei is the perfect location for launching day trips anywhere in the island.

I have saved the best for last. Our hosts, Karen and Joe, are the most welcoming, thoughtful and kind people. They are founts of knowledge about the island and can help you plan any kind of outing.

I can't wait until we can come back to this condo! I highly recommend!

Fantastic location!

We had a wonderful 3 week holiday in this unit from Karen and Joe Grafe. We have stayed in many other units on Maui and their kitchen is the best one yet! They are very accommodating when we needed anything and very friendly. The location was excellent, right across from one of the best beaches and located within 5 minutes to many different shops. Definitely would rent from them again. The sleeping arrangement and 2 bathrooms was the perfect set up for our family. Mahalo Karen & Joe

Well kept property in a great location.

Everything was easy - from reservation to check in to the facilities such as the kitchen and laundry in the unit. The condo was comfortable and located in a great spot just across from Kamaole 3 beach. The wall unit AC was sufficient, and the fans also kept it cool. It was a great price, so we would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed our stay at Haleakala Shores

Our family of 4 spent 10 days in Maui in early August, 2017. We have been to Kihei several times previously, but this was the first time staying at Haleakala Shores.

Renting from Karen and Joe was very easy and their unit was nice. The unit was spacious and our boys enjoyed not having to share a bed. The unit was well stocked with everything we needed and more, including nice little unexpected touches like a Wii and Netflix.

Only issues with the unit was that the kitchen area was a little tight when 2 people were trying to work in there, and the main door was very sticky to open.

The grounds are nice, but not spectacular. There are no "grounds" people on staff to keep the pool area tidy and the BBQ's clean. You would expect people to clean the BBQ after they use, but I guess not.

There was covered parking, which was nice to keep the car cool during the day, but it was pretty tight to park a mid-size car. I was glad we did not rent anything bigger.

We spent a lot of time at the pool area and have a few comments:

1) The pool is 8 feet deep at the deepest spot

2) Lots of rules for the pool area (and the complex in general), even though we saw several people not follow them.

3) The manager's unit is beside the pool and he would occasionally hang out a window and watch people in the pool, which was a little creepy.

4) There is no hot tub, which would have been nice on a few of the cloudier days. As a result a lot of people gathered in the shallow area of the pool, which became crowded occasionally.

5) The pool area is locked, which is understandable. It did get annoying after awhile to constantly be sharing the pool key between 4 people who were coming and going from the area at different times. Other places we have stayed had their pool area locked with keypads, which made it nicer.

Overall we had a good time, but who doesn't in Maui!!!! Positives being the unit we stayed in exceeded our needs. Negatives would be the missing little perks in the pool and BBQ area

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice review. We are so glad you had good time. With regard to the pool and BBQ area concern, every morning between 7:00 am and 9:00 am the pool is cleaned and checked for chemical balance. Additionally, the BBQs and furniture are cleaned and the grounds raked. Unfortunately, windy days can cause more leaves to be on the ground and some people using them do not keep the BBQs as clean as we all would like. We do provide two keys for the pool but would always be glad to provide more on request. Generally our pool rules are what is required by the state and are quite similar to other condo complexes and ,yes, some people do not follow them. Peter is a new Resident Manager and learning how to best carry out his duties. We will suggest some better ways for him to maintain security and safety. Sorry you found the the parking tight. We park a Lincoln Navigator in our slot which can be challenging. We hope to have you visit our unit at Haleakala Shores again. Mahalo, Joe and Karen

Great Family Vacation Pad

Our 10 days on Maui was our first VRBO experience and it was everything we had hoped for. The condo offered us a well stocked, clean, comfortable place to call home for 10 days. Being able to walk across the street to beaches, snorkelling and wave riding was wonderful. The condo did not lack anything we needed and our family of 5 including 3 teenage girls look forward to our next visit to Hawaii. If we return to Maui on a future visit we would love to stay in this condo again. Mahalo.
