Overview

Downtown House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Maison Violette is one of the best kept secrets in New Orleans, the historical French Quarter home offers a unique New Orleans experience with gracious Southern hospitality.

Maison Violette is located on the historic Esplanade Avenue. Located within a short walking distance of both Frenchman St and the French Market. Esplanade Avenue runs from the Mississippi River front to the intersection with Carrollton Avenue just past Bayou St. John, and the entrance to City Park. Many 19th century mansions still line the street; it functioned as a 'millionaire's row' for the Louisiana Creole section of the city.

The home offers guests a step into the past, yet new and comfortable accommodations with its recent masterful renovation which offers a luxurious, clean, modern comfortable feel. Amenities include a fully furnished kitchen, slate counter tops, stainless appliances in addition to all that one could wish for to cook a gourmet meal, a Japanese soaking tub in the spa like serene bathroom setting, a king size bed dressed in all of the romantic elements the city has to offer and a front porch with a swing to sit back, relax and watch the spirit of a city that is truly alive!

The location of the Maison Violette sits in the heart of New Orleans. No need for a car while staying at the Maison Violette, everything is within walking distance. You want to walk the streets of New Orleans and take in all of history and vibrance the city has to offer as you explore all of the many neighborhoods.

New Orleans offers endless entertainment and attractions through out the year. Stroll the streets and experience all the best attractions, the Riverfront, the French Quarter, Jackson Square, the Fauborg Marigny, the live music venues, famous restaurants (you have to experience a Friday lunch at Galatoire's), the shopping, the museums, the casino, the street car and of course the nightlife, its all here in walking distance!

There is a queen sofa sleeper to accommodate additional sleeping arrangements.

Keywords: The house is rented as a 1 bedroom.

Renters must be at least 25 years old.

Great location for all French Quarter activities!!

  • 5 of 5

House is located within walking distance of everything and walking is the way to get around once you are parked. We tried a taxi one day from the far side of Quarter (Hilton) back, it would have been quicker to walk. The house is on Esplanade which is a beautiful tree lined street and located one block from the end of Boubon St. We loved how spacious the house was and it was very well furnished and comfortable. There are some good restaraunts within a 4 block walk and Cafe de Monde is only a 10 minute walk. Royal street is at the corner of the house and walking the length of it was wonderful with beautiful homes and the traditional balconies with flowers everywhere. We would stay here again for sure.

The perfect location and beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

If you are wanting to enjoy the nightlife and feel safe this is definitely the spot. Great place to hang out in as well. Great front porch and close walking distance to coffee place a couple blocks away. Would highly recommend it and will definitely stay here again on our next visit to New Orleans. Yes the shower is definitely something that should be addressed..so many people say it??? Just put a shower ring and curtain. Anyway overall it was awesome and you won't be disappointed here. Thanks Kelly!

It was a great location for the French Quarter and Mardi Gras

  • 4 of 5

The good things about the rental :The property was clean. The bed was comfortable. Everything in the French Quarter was within walking distance. We felt safe in the location. There was some street noise but tolerable and it was Mardi Gras. We stayed there with our two adult children. Be aware that the house really is better for just 2 people. The negatives: The layout of the house was a little inconvenient in that the bathroom was on the other side of the master bedroom meaning people had to go through your bedroom in order to use the bathroom. We ran out of hot water after just on person bathed. Maybe they need a bigger hot water heater. It doesn't have a shower but that didn't bother us. The other problem is that the tv doesn't work. You would think for the amount we paid, they would make sure you had tv. The Super Bowl was on and we couldn't watch it in our rental which was inconvenient and disappointing. I'm not being mean just honest. Overall, despite the negatives it is a good rental property that was clean, safe, and in a great location and we would stay there again.

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

The location is perfect and can't be beat! The property does need a little TLC (2 broken cabinet doors)

No shower only a tub, saw a few giant roaches (apparently that isn't uncommon for the south) and bring your own toilet paper. They don't supply enough.

Sounds strange, but I would stay there again. I love New Orleans and the property is close to everything!
