|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
Surrounded on three sides by lush vineyards, this renovated nineteenth century former farmhouse with adjoining cottages is situated a mere 6km away from the historic City of Avignon in Provence (the once Papal City with its famous St Bénezet bridge).
The area is rich in history, tradition and natural beauty and is the perfect place for a break at any time of the year with the most amount of sunshine hours recorded in France.
Wine lovers will enjoy visiting the numerous caves and private cellars in this area, known as “The Wine Route of the Côtes du Rhône” (“La Route des Vins”): the villages of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, and Taval to mention just a few, are all only a short drive away.
For golfers, there are 4 courses within easy driving distance: The Grand Avignon in Vedène; Golf de Chateaublanc in Morière les Avignon; Golf du Moulin in Orange; and Provence Country Club in l'Isle sur la Sorgue.
Why not visit the wonderful festivals during the summer months: Festival d’Avignon, the Roman Amphitheatre in Orange, and the International Piano Festival at la Roque d'Anthéron.
Experience the ambience of Provence, not to mention its produce, at the famous markets at Uzès, Aix-en-Provence, and L'Isle sur la Sorgue with its plethora of antique shops (the 'antique capital' of Provence)!
There are numerous places to visit nearby: the Roman coliseum at Arles, the Pont du Gard, Chateau des Baux, and Sénanque Abbaye, not to mention the breathtaking hill top villages at Gordes, Séguret, and Suzette or climbing (or cycling) Mont Ventoux!
Maison des Vignes and cottages is a charming holiday rental offering excellent facilities for a relaxing stay sleeping from 2 to 12 people.

As an example, you will find on the ground floor a lounge, dining area and kitchen fully equipped with electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge with freezer compartment.
On the first floor you will find bedrooms with super-king size luxury beds, which can be separated into two single beds if you prefer. Our aim is to provide rental accommodation which reflects a taste for quality and our goal is for complete customer satisfaction and for our clients to return year after year.
Maison des Vignes & Cottages was a wonderful place to stay It's location is ideal for using as a base to see the Provence are of France. The house was just perfect for our needs. Had the luck to meet Heather and Keith and was happy for their suggestions for places in the area to see and eat. Only thing I would have liked for our stay was either a radio or a TV so that we could at least keep up with the news.
Would highly recommend Maison des Vignes & Cottages as a place to stay when in this area of France. Plan to be going back here for lavender season and will definitely book my stay here.
My husband and I stayed at La Maison des Vignes for just over a week and were absolutely bowled over by our hoiday. The owners had thought of every aspect from a warm welcome to a fond farewell which made our stay unforgettable! We stayed in one of the cottages which was tastefully furnished with a nod to "french chic" and very comfortable. We were able to breakfast on the terrace, relax by the pool and spend the evenings with a glass or two of wine watching the sun go down over the Provencal mountaintops..! It was an easy place to use as a base for when we ventured out in our rental car to explore the stunning surrounding countryside or the very impressive city of Avignon. By the end of our holiday we had made true friends for life and felt revived and refreshed - just what a holiday should be about. A vacation in this beautiful property nestled in the acres of grapevines by the mountains of Provence was truly an experience to remember giving us memories to cherish. Can't wait to do it all over again...really was " la vie tres bonne"!!
We stayed for a few days at the end of June 2011. We had the place to ourselves - and it was delightful. There are a few issues, but I think they will settle down over time. However there were also a couple of more serious things too. The main one was that the pool was not yet ready for use. So while we could sit by it, we couldn't venture into the water.
As I say, that will be fixed, I am sure.
The cottage is charming. The bathrooms very well redone. Lots of water pressure. No hairdryer though. For US visitors that could be an issue because of the voltage differences.
The electricity was a little flaky - there had apparently been a lightning storm which had fried something (don't know what exactly) and that demanded that we be careful which things that draw heavy current were on together (hot water and oven for example!)
The issues we had didn't detract from our experience much. The owners were incredibly easy to deal with. We spoke a few times to resolve things, they were responsive and accurate in their diagnoses and observations.
Would we stay again? Absolutely - we are contemplating finding time to come across again with friends when all three cottages are available. It's a beautiful spot - breakfast under the olive tree anyone?
As far as attractions are concerned. A car is a must, of course. The high spot for us was the town of Orange - about 30 km away in the morning and the afternoon in Chateau Neuf du Pape. Remember though that France has instituted a very tough (0.05) drink/driving law.
Avignon we loved. Arles was for us a bit disappointing.
We ate well, drank well and relaxed well almost every where. The Olive Oil estate at the N100/D108 roundabout is well worth a visit. We came away with 3 litres of very high quality oil.
My partner and I stayed in one of the cottages for a week as we were travelling through the South of France on route to Spain. The cottages are very "French", spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The showers are fabulous (very powerful) unusual in France and Spain. The super-king beds are that "super-king". It was too early in the season for the pool to be open, but we lazed around it anyway soaking up the wonderful spring sunshine. The location was spot on and so close to Avignon. Details of restaurants nearby were given and maps too so everything we could have wanted was provided and we will definitely look to come again.
This was without doubt the MOST relaxing holiday we have ever had-far from the madding crowd.
The cottage was delightful, beautifully furnished with Everything we needed. The bed was HUGE and extremely comfortable. We even had the use of a BBQ (not that we used it as there were many places nearby where we could enjoy the French Cuisine).
We were so comfortable at the cottage that we were extremely lazy and even spent a couple of days around the pool and sampling the local beverage-which is well known to extremely consumable(and it was). We had the pool to ourselves during the day-wonderful!
There were so many excellent places to visit and explore within easy driving distance and there is an excellent supermarket, a short drive-in Les Anges, which has all you could ever want.
Because we were so relaxed and lazy we did not visit all of the places we had planned to see (let alone the places that the owners recommended and left leaflets for us to read.) We have therefore planned to go back to Provence to repeat the experience, which we are booking for later in the year. We will most definitely be staying at the same place again- I can't imagine finding another gem like this one!
The review guidelines listed a lot of questions which I have no hesitation in answering with a resounding YES and I can thoroughly recommend this delightful getaway as one of the most relaxing places to stay in a visit to Provence.
Mmm.I may not be able to get booked when I would like if everyone else finds it too! Ah well, they deserve it, it truly is a delightful place.
We only stayed for 3 days which was much too short. The appartment ist really amazing, nothing to complain about. We definitely want to come back again. There is so much to do around Avignon and we didn't have enough time to do everything we liked to to. We also would have liked to stay for a day or two only at the cottage to relax and enjoy the pool.
What we liked most:
- Terrace with bbq
- Nice pool
- Bathroom with shower and tub
- everything renovated in a very nice and professional way and keeping the original charm of this old house
