Space 1,800 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Maximum Number of Guests - 8

Our country retreat is located on 5 beautifully landscaped acres in a peaceful setting amid the Tennessee horse farms--close enough to all the action (25-minutes to Nashville), but far enough away from city lights to have a brilliant, starry night sky.

We rarely make exception to the maximum number of 8. This number includes adults plus children and is dictated by the rating on our septic.

The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, large walk-in closet (large enough to use as a small nursery with a Pak-n-Play), and a master bath with a large walk-in shower and double sinks. The second bedroom has a queen bed and private bath with a tub/shower and single vanity. The third bedroom has a queen bed and there are two twin beds in the bonus room. All upstairs rooms have access to the balcony.

We offer more than just a place to sleep! We go out of our way to ensure that your visit to the Nashville/Franklin area is comfortable and enjoyable. All you need to do is show up with your luggage. We provide linens, bath, pool, and hot tub towels, a fully equipped kitchen, etc. When we are in residence on the property, we are happy to meet all your needs. When we're not present, our property manager is a phone call away.

Whether you're looking for a country getaway, a place to stay while attending a conference, or simply a place to relax and let the world go by, you've come to the right place. You can get out and explore the sites and sounds of beautiful middle Tennessee-indulge yourself at a day spa, sightsee in historic downtown Franklin, or shop at nearby Cool Springs Mall. You can stay in and relax with your morning coffee on the patio, take a dip in the pool, enjoy the porch swing while you sip a traditional glass of Southern ice tea with mint you’ve picked from our herb garden, lounge in the covered pavilion and read a book, play a lively game of ping pong, toast marshmallows at the fire pit, or watch the gorgeous sunsets.

You'll feel comfortable and relaxed in our sunny, country retreat. The kitchen, dining room, baths, and laundry room all have ceramic tile floors; all other rooms downstairs are hard wood, and the upstairs rooms are all carpeted. Beautiful crown moldings accent the main living areas.

ALL AMENITIES ARE PRIVATE FOR YOUR EXCLUSIVE USE AND WE RENT TO ONLY ONE GROUP AT A TIME. Our 5 acres of privacy offer many amenities for relaxing and having fun:

* patio just off the living room and dining room

* a 16 x 34 foot in-ground pool, 3-ft to 8ft deep

* a 24 x 48 foot covered pool pavilion with cooktop, frig, microwave, and plenty of eating area

* private sitting area adjacent to the pavilion with HOT TUB and fire pit

* gas grill

* large game room building with 50's diner decor

* ping pong table

* foosball

* air hockey

* parking area large enough for any vehicles-RVs, trailers, boats-also great for younger kids to ride their bikes or rollerblade

Other amenities include Dish satellite TV, DVR, DVD player, extensive DVD library, book library, board games, and WiFi Internet access.

Staying in this area is a rich and colorful experience. Nashville, only 20 miles away, is home to the world of country music-from museums to tours of the stars' homes to the Grand Ole Opry. It's a country-music fan's mecca. You can honky-tonk your way through famous Printer's alley, take in an exhibit at the Frist Center for Visual Arts, or attend a sports event (Sounds baseball, Predator’s hockey game, Titan’s football game, Vanderbilt football or basketball game).

Franklin, brimming with old town, historic charm, is only 12 miles away. Franklin is one of the oldest towns in Tennessee, and it begs to be explored and appreciated. Spilling over with Southern hospitality, there is an endless array of eateries, antique shops, Victorian and Civil War homes, and battlefields.

Please email me for a link to our individual website for more photos, more information, and a list of this year's events and attractions in Nashville and Franklin.

Our property books up about 3 - 6 months in advance, so we recommend that you try to book your dates as soon as possible. If the dates you want are already booked, give us a call anyway and we can put you on a waiting list in case there is a cancellation.

Inviting people to visit you and enjoy the amenities of the property for the day carries a surcharge per person per day of $25. This privilege is limited however and requires prior written permission.

We have a cleaning check list with over 140 items on it that we complete after each rental. The list is too long to include here, but here are a few of the cleaning routines that we perform to ensure that everything is fresh and clean for you when you arrive:

1. sanitize all bed pillows, decorator pillows, and upholstered furniture by steam-cleaning

2. replace all sheets, pillow cases, mattress pads, blankets, quilts, and bedspreads or coverlets with freshly laundered linens that have been washed and sanitized in the hottest.

3. replace all towels and wash cloths—even the ones that look like they may not have been used—with freshly laundered towels and wash cloths.

4. wash all dishes, glassware, silverware, and cookware in the dishwasher—again, even the ones that look like they may not have been used.

5. disinfect all hard surfaces, cabinets, and drawers in the kitchen and bath

6. wash and disinfect all bathroom tile floors (up close and personal - by hand).

7. vacuum and spot clean all carpeting.

When you stay with us, you don't have to wonder if the towel you take out of the cabinet might have been slightly used and returned to the cabinet. You don't have to fold the bedspread back so you don't have to touch it. You don't have to worry that the last guest who used that spoon simply rinsed it off and replaced it in the drawer. You can just relax and enjoy yourself.

About Yvonne Johnson

This home and property has always been a gathering place for family and friends, and it was just a natural extension to open our home to travelers and vacationers who prefer not to stay in an impersonal hotel. When we are in residence, we are 'practically invisible' but we are happy to be as attentive to your needs as you desire while you vacation on the property.

Yvonne Johnson purchased this house in 2003

Why Yvonne Johnson chose Tennessee

We chose this location because it's in the country, surrounded by fields and horse farms, but just 12 miles from the center of downtown Franklin or Cool Springs - the hub of shopping, dining, day spas, and entertainment. The pastoral countryside and the sights and sounds of this place encourage you to slow down and enjoy the peacefulness. When you're outside, you can hear the wind chimes and the trickling of fountains, listen to the birds calling to each other from our two dozen Southern pines, and sometime hear a distant farmer's rooster crowing in the morning. If you listen carefully and at just the right time, you can hear the faint whistle of a distant train. When you drive down our road, you'll pass horse farms, a big red barn, a log cabin, a lake, acres of pasture land, and the rolling hills rise up to meet you just as you turn into our driveway - food for the soul everywhere you look. The 200-foot driveway, lined on both sides with crepe myrtles, is an explosion of pink from late July until September. Summer nights are cooler and the stars are brighter here. Fireflies poke holes in the dark and beckon to be captured in glass pickle jars.

What makes this house unique

Our guests seem to especially love the pool/picnic pavilion and the nostalgic ’50’s diner located in our 40-ft x 60-ft activities building, filled with automotive memorabilia, antique gas pumps, old general store signs, Coca Cola memorabilia, and an array of model cars and replicas. An old neon restaurant sign and a 1909 gas pump mark the entrance to the building.

Beautiful, clean, tranquil atmosphere!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 7 women stay for a girls long weekend get away in which we had plans to do alot of sight seeing but we decided to hang by the pool and hot tub on a few days because of the property being so relaxing and we just wanted to enjoy the place! The owners are wonderful people, very accomidating and just great people! The home is spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, with everything you need for your stay! The property is beautiful, well maintained, peaceful and a short distance from the stores and restaurants.

Family vacation memories

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 3 adults and 3 children spent a 4-day weekend getaway in early September. Luckily, we had good warm weather and were able to enjoy the pool and all the other activities. Our family had such a wonderful time this past weekend – your property is amazing with all the activities and amenities available right there on site. We were able to enjoy all of it. There were a few very special moments that will be with all of us for a lifetime. We spent a lot of time in the pool, activity center and hot tub, but also managed time to grill out and use the outdoor kitchen area. There was also some golfing going on. Everyone enjoyed sitting around the fire pit making smores too.

The trip to Nashville for family time and souvenir shopping was also close by and a good time for all.

Again, thank you so much for being such wonderful hosts!

The perfect base for a holiday in and around Nashville

  • 5 of 5

3 families (husband, wife and 2 kids, Grandparents and sister & brother-in-law) came to Nashville for the first time and stayed in this property for an two amazing weeks.

The best part for the kids was the pool of course, but everywhere was very clean and well looked after. We hardly saw Yvonne and Rik throughout our time at the property but they were just a phone call or a knock away if you needed anything. Everything like towels, linen, toiletries, hairdryers was provided for - all in a good clean condition. Yvonne was very helpful in showing us around and how everything worked and she recommended places in the area that the children would enjoy.

We did a lot of cooking at the house and had everything we needed. We also had a couple of BBQ's which were able to enjoy over in the outside Pavilion by the pool.

We even had a 50's night in the diner, dressed up, played games and played music (having rented guitars from 'The Guitar Store' at Cool Springs Mall).

We did lots and visited lots of places but we also had a few days by the pool to just chill out and relax. Being a quiet area - it was very easy to do this.

The driving range, games room, hot tub were all used and throughly enjoyed - the only thing we didn't get round to doing was the fire pit but being so hot while we were there - it really didn't seem necessary ;)

Nashville itself is very easy to get to and there is lots of parking. Going in for the day and coming back to the house was ideal especially if you don't like that constant city buzz.

Franklin, which is the closet town, is beautiful with lots of unique shops and eateries (we went to Puckett's and Grays - both had great food and live music on the occasions we were there).

Cool Springs and Opry Mills are great malls if you want to do shopping and there are lots of food shops close by for your groceries (although please check store polices and state law on alcohol - some store don't sell on a Sunday and will not accept UK Driving Licence's as ID - always carry your passport).

We did the Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman, The Bluebird and even took in a baseball game (Nashville Sounds) - which was great fun and very family friendly, our kids loved it.

All in all we had a amazing 2 weeks but having Rik and Yvonne's house to stay in was just perfect and made our holiday all that more enjoyable.

I don't think we got to see everything and so we hope to return in the future.

Thanks again Rik & Yvonne, The Eley's, Stapleton's & Altham's xxxx

This was our 2nd year to visit this property for my daughter's summer vacation. It was just as wonderful as last year! My daughter and her friend LOVED the pool area so much and swam day & night when the weather was good.

A few days were rainy but the wonderful thing about the location of this property is that it is so close to Nashville and Downtown Franklin so there's many options. The "activities building" on the property with all the games is a great option too for those rainy days.

My husband and I used the hot-tub for the first time this year and it was very enjoyable and immaculate.

I love that the house is located in a secluded area which makes your vacation quite & peaceful. Yvonne is just wonderful and very welcoming and ANYTHING that you may need she will definitely take care of.

Would CERTAINLY recommend this property to any group(big or small)!

Best family vacation ever!!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay !! The house was great and very very clean. The game room was a lot of fun. The pool and pool area was just perfect!! We grilled and had all our meals in the pool area. The covered area was so nice for the ones that didn't want to be in the sun. We ended up spending most of our vacation time on the property. The location was perfect. They have thought of everything needed for a great vacation. Thank you Yvonne for everything and we hope to be back soon!!
