Long Island City Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, Queen Tempur-Pedic Bed, Extra Queen Bed, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

The Modern Garden Apartment in NYC is a 1-bedroom apartment located in Astoria, New York City. It has direct access to the garden. The apartment is only a 1 minute walk to the subway station, as it is located just around the corner. From there, it only takes 10 minutes to reach Manhattan by subway.

The apartment is complete with modern furniture and fixtures throughout and is of a spacious, open-plan design, with ceramic tiled flooring.

The apartment has a large living room with two comfortable sofas and a large flat-screen television with satellite tv.

There is a spacious kitchen with brand new appliances and is fully equipped to cook a gourmet meal. There is also a large dining table with dining chairs.

The door in the kitchen will lead you to the large garden, which you will find a dining table, chairs, bench, 2 lounge chairs, and umbrella. It is a very special treat to have an outdoor space in the city! The garden is a wonderful space where to lounge with a morning coffee and to relax after a long and busy day around the high-energy city. Depending on the season, the garden has flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruit.

The apartment has a spacious spa style bathroom with shower area.

There is a bedroom with modern furniture and a queen size Tempur-Pedic bed, which can fit two guests. For the third and fourth guests, there is a light-weight queen size Tempur-Pedic bed that can be easily moved from the private room near the entrance of the apartment where it is stored, and can be returned there during the day so that it is out of the way. The sofas can also be used for sleeping.

We also have a pack 'n play (playard) for baby, available upon request.

The neighborhood of Astoria is the most diverse area in New York City. You will find this special area to be very conveniently located to many shops, boutiques, markets, restaurants, cafes, bars, beer gardens, museums, parks, and any other establishment that one needs or wants to have nearby in an urban setting. Many restaurants in Astoria have been highly rated by the Zagat restaurant guide, recommended in the prestigious Michelin guide, and raved about in The New York Times. For you, our guest, is a large welcome booklet in the apartment to help you with your planning, which includes details such as an extensive list of restaurants in the area, many nearby markets, and a map of the area with key points. This booklet will help to immediately get you familiar with the area.

The apartment altogether is enjoyable to wake up, relax, eat, and sleep in. It is nice and cheerful, clean, new, fresh, and will contribute plenty of happiness and wonderful memories to your holiday in New York City!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is a gem in NYC. Located on a great, safe street in a good Queens location, with subway a 2-minute walk away and direct service to Manhattan. The apartment was even better than the photos! It was spotless, quiet, and felt welcoming right away. Jason, the owner, was amazingly accommodating and very accessible. I highly recommend this place, and it will definitely be the first place I (we) check out on our next visit to NYC. Thank you!

Great location and excellent value for money

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week in the apartment. We wanted to explore Manhatten and do all of the normal touristy things. We soon found we had hit on the ideal location as :1)we were three minutes away from a subway which could swiftly take us anywhere in Manhatten and unlimited travel for a week for around 30 dollars 2)Queens has many different excellent restaurants most of which will deliver if you wish and 3) We could shop at An organic food market just 5 minutes walk away which sells just great food.

The apartment is not top end but is excellent value for money and benefits from a well equipped large kitchen , a large table, an excellent shower and a very comfortable bed. Jessica and Jason made us feel very comfortable and were always able to help when asked.

Perfect Location - Without the High Manhattan Price

  • 4 of 5

My family of four spent a week (June 23 - June 30) enjoying and sight seeing New York City and this apartment was perfect for the occasion. Our goal was to have a good breakfast each morning before heading out and we had every thing we needed - pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. And oh, there is a supermarket next to the Subway station where you can get every and anything you need. The apartment had enough space without feeling clustered and it was very clean. The subway is really around the corner - yes a minute walk and with more than one trains stopping, we never had to wait long for a train. And yes, 10 mins to Manhattan, 15 mins to Time Square in the middle of everything. Jessica was very welcoming and accommodating to our needs.

This is a safe, family friendly neighborhood that I would highly recommend to any family who want enjoy NYC for a week. It was a relatively cool week but I think it would get a little stuffy if it was warmer since I could get the A/C to go below 80 degree F. Value for money though, I give it 4 stars - (keep in mind this is an apartment and not a luxury hotel)

Here is what we accomplished in our stay.

Day 1 Thursday: (Arrived in NYC at 2:30) - Checked, Walked the Brooklyn Bridge, visit China Town, had a sumptuous dinner in Little Italy, topped with Gelato

Day 2 Friday: Tour United Nation, Walked Time Square a bit, 911 Memorial, Circle Line cruise around Manhattan

Day 3 Saturday: Central Park, High Line, return home for a little R&R, Dinner at Ruth Chris, Broadway show (Wicked)

Day 4 Sunday: Some light shopping, trip into Brooklyn, and spent rest of day with friends in Long Island

Day 5 Monday: NY Stock Exchange and Wall Street, Guggenheim Museum, MET Museum, Top of Rockefeller Center, shopping and sightseeing in Mid Town

Day 6 Tuesday: Matinee Broadway show (Aladdin), Shopping, and sight seeing mostly along 5th Ave

Day 7 Wednesday: Shopping, Matinee Broadway Show (Color Purple), shopping and sight seeing, Dinner and Gelato again in Little Italy

Day 8 Thursday: Checked our bag a Macy's bag check and shopped in Macy's until 1 pm and caught our bus at 2 pm.

We had a great time

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to New York City and we were celebrating my wife's 50th birthday.

The apartment is perfectly located just around the corner from the subway and close to shops, cafe's and bars. It is bigger than the photographs suggest and very well set out and furnished.

Jessica and Jason are very friendly and professional hosts.

The property played a big part in making our holiday one of the best we have had.

Thank you

Perfect for Our Needs

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4 nights for our sons birthday in November. This apartment was absolutely perfect for our needs. Being less than a block from the subway stop made it very easy to navigate the city and having a fully equipped kitchen made our vacation affordable. The restaurant suggestions in the provided notebook were very good and the beds were very comfortable. Astoria is a great place to stay when visiting New York. We definitely recommend this apartment and would stay again in the future.

Astoria is located in the New York City borough of Queens, just over the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, also known as the 59th Street Bridge, which stretches over the East River from East Midtown Manhattan. This special neighborhood has a wonderful history, which includes being the location where Steinway & Sons, the finest piano company in the world, chose to build shop in 1853. The closest train station, named Steinway Street, where the M and R lines stop, is just a one minute walk from the apartment and will get you to East Midtown Manhattan in only 10 minutes. Astoria is a very lively area, which is heavily populated with restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, and has a vibrant nightlife. The Museum of Moving Image and Kaufman Studios is a 10 minute walk from the apartment. Also nearby are the Noguchi Museum, Socrates Sculpture Park, and the MoMA affiliated PS1 Museum.
