Why Kate - Owner and Manager chose Līhuʻe
'The Garden Isle' has beautiful stretches of white sand beaches, lovely tropical greenery and delicious tropical fruit. Kauai is the most pristine of the four major Hawaiian Islands. It is one of the most beautiful areas on this earth. Our condo is on the second floor with no one above. We are in a 2 story building.
What makes this Condo unique
From December through February the female whales come from Alaska to birth their babies in our warm waters. Rare endangered monk seals sunbath on beaches throughout the island. Colorful tropical birds and flowers abound. The quiet beach in front of Kaha Lani goes on for miles with hardly another person to be seen. Mornings or evenings we enjoy walking along the paved ocean path that goes on for 15 miles. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Kauai at Kaha Lani Complex while still being in the center of activities, stores and restaurants. A lovely spot indeed.

Great location and amenities, beautiful ocean view
This beautiful condo is located ~ 15 minutes from the Lihue ( airport ) and 15 minutes from Kapaa ( xlnt local cuisine and cheap eats. ) There kitchen has all the amenities including a dishwasher. I picked up Poke and Lau Lau from the near by Foodland so we did zero cooking except to microwave, but if we wanted too, we could have. We turned the comfortable chairs to face the ocean view, opening the sliding doors with screens so the breeze came in, but no mosquitos. The king bed was very comfortable and my son did not complain about the sofabed. Shampoo was provided and the full bath has a nice tub for soaking. We opened the leavered windows go get a good flow through and had the ceiling fans on during the day, but off at night, the temperatures were perfect. The condo was very clean and I would highly recommend renting from Kathleen. She responded quickly to all of my enquiries.
Conveniently located to allow for easy access to literally everything the island has to offer. The condo is fully equipped to fulfill every need. A relaxing stay to say the least. And that view!! The owner is incredibly accommodating and made traveling a breeze. Will no doubt return.
So happy you enjoyed your time at our condo. Hopefully you will be able to return to "The Garden Isle" and our condo.
Our spot in paradise
As I am preparing for my 2018 visit to Kaha Lani 215, I realized I did not write a review for my last stay in July of 2017. My family and I stayed a month in Kate's condo and enjoyed the beautiful view from the lanai. The unit was nice, and very clean. When we walked through the door we were welcomed by a lovely bouquet of hawaiian flowers. The couple who Kate hires to take care of the condo cut them from their own garden. The condo was almost always filled with a pleasant ocean breeze and the fans helped when the trade winds were stopped. The kitchen filled all of our cooking needs as my husband and I love to experiment with new recipies. The condo was suprisingly spacious for four people. Though it only sleeps two in the king bed, the condo can fit four people, two on a pull out sofa bed in the living room. Kate was very accommodating and responsive throughout our trip. If we were in need of something she would call upon the nice couple who cared for the condo. The location of the condo is absoultely perfect. We took advantage of the paved ocean walkway, rented bikes and safely rode for miles. Thank you Kate for an amazing stay! We are excited to return.
Lovely spot but a bit rundown
We lived in Hawaii in the 60s, 70s and 80s and understand how things were back then. This unit reminded us of those times - simple and not plush or fancy. The location is excellent and secluded.
The owner was responsive and very nice. The rate was also quite good.
My comments are based in the fact that we either manage or have owned three rental condos.
I give the unit a low rating for the following reasons. There were no locking sliding doors or safe. But, even more importantly was the comfort of the sofa bed. It is really unsleepable. The sofa spring system was from the 60s. The mattress even when placed on the floor had uncomfortable wire springs. After the first night, my daughter just slept on the sofa. The unit as is is fit only for two people that sleep in the same bed.
The kitchen was well outfitted.
I hope that the owners address these issues. If so, we would stay there again.
WOW --- I am truly surprised by your negative review. With all of the communication we had during your 3 night stay, including:
1. Asking me where I purchased the wall to wall carpeting throughout the condo so you could have it installed in one of your condos.
2. Needing a place to keep your food cold because you were leaving your Poi Pu condo early and we still had a guest in ours. We gladly provided you with ice and a cooler on our lanai until our current guest departed and the condo was thoroughly cleaned for you.
It sounded as though you were satisfied with everything during your stay.
The queen size sofa bed was purchased 4 years ago. What can I say, a sofa bed is a sofa bed. I am sorry that your adult daughter found sleeping uncomfortable. Don't think our sofa bed is any different than most others.
Our sliding doors do lock. Just contacted the couple who cares for our condo and they confirmed the doors are fine. We did not list a safe as part of the condo furnishings.
We appreciate that you found the kitchen furnished to your satisfaction, enjoyed the secluded and central location of the condo, the lovely view of the ocean and the reasonable cost. We are gratified that in spite of your concerns you expressed a desire to return.
The condo is exactly as it appears in the pictures in our VRBO ad. The condo has everything we list in our ad. We have been with VRBO since 2011 and you are the first review that was not a 5 star.
Very relaxing, peaceful and nicely located.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The condo was clean, nicely supplied, everything worked well and the bed was super comfortable. The location offered a quiet environment and it was conveniently located midpoint for exploring the island. It is a 1970's built condo that has been refreshed, not fully remodeled and has a nice ocean view. It was quite comfortable for 2 people and ideal for a long term stay. The location was between two Safeway's, so whichever direction you would travel, a stop for groceries was convenient. It was ideal for taking walks along and on the beach both directions. We would stay there again!
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your next visit.
Kaui's Hidden Gem
Having stayed at Kaha Lani a number of times, I've always felt like it's been one of those "hidden gems" we found. And that's exactly what the rental car counter clerk called it when I picked up my car this year. Having been coming to the island for some 30 years now, I know the properties and areas pretty well, and I can say that Kaha Lani is my favorite. It's a quiet condo resort with beautiful grounds and understated ambiance. And Kate's unit 215 is perfect, especially for long-term renters like myself. She manages the rentals herself, and is very quick to respond to email. Her long-time on-island caretakers, Richard and Barbara, are lovely, personable people who will help with any issues you may have. Richard even delivers a beautiful flower arrangement from his two-acre garden! Because Kate handles reservations herself, her prices reflect that and she does not charge all those service fees, etc. that so many other units do. The million-dollar view from her oceanview unit is wide and breathtaking. And the rolling surf can be heard night and day. The second story is nice because while it's at the top of its building, it's not too far up while toting your grocery bags. But it gives you an added perspective with the view. Just perfect! It is front and center of the three units in the building and so has the best view. The condo is very homey and welcoming. Personally, I don't need granite counters to enjoy my month in Kauai, so I feel right at home here with the rattan and hawaiian prints. The trade winds keep the condo cool and room fans help when the trades are down. The location is perfect for sightseeing either north to Princeville or south to Poipu. You CAN sleep four in this unit, but it might be better for a family than for two adult couples, as the sofa bed is in the living room; and sofa beds are notoriously uncomfortable. All in all I have thoroughly enjoyed my month here and am already booked for next year. The only downside I believe is it's WAY too close to the golf course!! My husband spent way too much time and money there this year! Mahalo, Kate. See you next year. Kathy
So happy you enjoyed your time at Kaha Lani. We are looking forward to welcoming you next year.
