Tom and Gail,
Our vacation was everything we hoped for. The chalet was very clean, comfortable and relaxing. We really enjoyed the hot tub. We had alot of deer as our daily visitors. We went on day trips to Smokehole Caverns, Seneca Rocks and Lost River State Park. The scenery along Rte.55 was really great. When we return to the area we would definately stay at the chalet again. Thank you for everything.

you, we would like to use this email as a review in homeaway. Tom and Gail
Hillside Chalet is a great home base to explore the area. The chalet itself was just perfect, clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated have cabinet space to put our groceries! We had everything we needed for home cooked meals and the screened in porch was wonderful during the summer rains. We explored Seneca rocks, Lost river state park, Romney, Blackwater falls state Park and great antique shops. Tom and Gail are very professional and great to work with!
This is such a wonderful spot to spend some time in nature. The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and well appointed, nestled on a hillside, with a fantastic screened in porch - a great spot to listen to the rain with a glass of wine. The hot tub was a great touch for the cooler mornings and evenings (and it's cozy for 2 people). Really great, and Tom was fantastic to work with leading up to, during and after. Highly recommend!
Wow. I can't find enough superlatives to describe this property accurately. The property is well manicured, the outside of the home is in great condition. Moving on to the interior, everything was very clean, and in great working order. Did I mention the hot tub? Amazing, and secluded. We went for our anniversary, and the owners were kind enough to leave a nice local bottle of wine, it was excellent, and a very nice touch. We will definitely be back.
Very comfotable, clean, quiet, private cabin in a great area with all the amenities you will need. Short walk to the lake and national forest. Very updated cabin and well taken care of. The owners are amazingly responsive and take care of their guests. They provide you with more than the average rental provides. Price is great and one of the easiest places to rent that we have dealt with. Beautiful views and even if it rains during your stay, the screened in porch and hot tub makes that so much easier.
We spent the week of Thanksgiving 2015 in Tom and Gail.s chalet and it was wonderful. The cabin comes with all the bells and whistles and the weather was perfect. Our grandson spent alot of time fishing trout at Rock Cliff lake about 15 miles away and our daughter and husband enjoyed many hiking excursions at Lost River state park. Our little Pug loved running after the black bunnies and squirrels around the chalet. A great place to stay and get away from it all.
My wife and I had a great getaway weekend here for our anniversary! It is the perfect distance away "from it all", but not so far away from a good restaurant or a day adventure. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You can relax in the hot tub and watch the stars (virtually no light pollution). Pet friendly! Plenty of wildlife, though we missed out on seeing black bears. If you go in the fall, there is beautiful foliage. Plenty of peace and quiet!
The chalet is located in scenic southern Hardy County, WV, near the George Washington National Forest and the Lost River State Park. A short walk takes you to the Warden Lake Nature Preserve and the beautiful 44 acre lake. It's an ideal area to enjoy hiking, biking, hunting, canoeing, fishing, skiing or just relaxing amidst nature's beauty. The proximity of the cities of Baltimore, Washington and Richmond (around a 3 hour drive) makes this location an ideal weekend retreat!
