|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This property is a clean, quiet, affordable place to stay with many of the same amenities as the more expensive places. It is located in a quaint Mexican neighborhood a short distance to the south of the main north village. You will find it to be a nice retreat after a long day of shopping, swimming and just plain relaxing. Close local eating places, bars and the large grocery store.

My wife Lori and I have been visiting the island every winter since 1980. When we decided it was where we wanted to be, we started constructing Casa Azul a little at a time until it was finally finished in 2008. We are striving to keep it reasonable so anyone can afford to vacation on this lovely island as we have for so many years.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1996
We purchased the property and built the vacation rental in this location because of the sea view, while still being somewhat shielded from the effects of storms and the erosion caused by waterfront property.
Only a short distance from the main village, a quiet neighborhood with a local flare
So grateful for yet another amazing visit at Casa Azul! Jimi and Lori are wonderful people and we love being part of the neighbourhood when we are on the Island. My first visit was with a girlfriend and I can confirm that it's great for a girl's getaway, second time was with my husband and we absolutely loved our evenings on the rooftop by the pool and this last visit was with my husband, my 10 year old and another couple (friends) who stayed in the room beside us upstairs. We all had the best fun, our friends were in love with the local neighbourhood and having their own little cottage-like room. And for the record, my son, who is used to resorts and fancy hotels (we travel a lot) said, within 10 minutes of looking around "this is the BEST place we've ever been!" lol Resorts are all the same, staff are paid to be sugary, if that's what you want, go to a resort. If you want to meet the local people, eat amazing local food, watch a soccer game, wander around barefoot by the cliffs, catch the sunrise at the Moon Goddess Temple......well, this is for you. Thanks Jim & Lori! Thanks Chely! See you next year! Steve and Natalie :)
The description of the property was accurate and the location in a local neighborhood really gave us the local feel of the island. Our room was right next to the pool on the second floor and we enjoyed the use of the pool and patio chairs upstairs in the late evenings.
We rented a golf cart and I highly recommend renting one for your stay as they will deliver it right to you here at Casa Azul. Jim knows the owners of the golf cart agency and he called them as soon as we arrived, the golf cart was there within minutes. We had booked the cart online and they were ready to deliver as soon as we arrived. We took a taxi from the ferry dock just so we didn't have to mess with luggage but we will just walk to the golf cart place from the ferry on our next visit as everything is close in the Centro.
Chedraui is very close by golf cart and we visited many times for alcohol and a few groceries. We only cooked breakfast occasionally in our unit and ate out the rest of the time but we kept the fridge loaded with our refreshments of choice (and bottled water) for our daily excursions to the beaches etc. We always travel with a cooler and we just strapped it onto the golf cart and took it everywhere. Where else in the world can you walk into a bank, grocery store, etc with a mixed drink in your Yeti. The island is so laid back, it''s just plain relaxing. We went to Cozumel for a week after our visit on Isla Mujeres and we prefer the small island life of Isla Mujeres.
Jim and Lori have found a great place to spend their years and I look forward to coming back to Casa Azul for our next trip.
I've been staying on Isla Mujeres for twelve (12) years, renting various places ranging from high end hotels, beach front casitas and places such as Casa Azul. To say this is a rare find is an understatement! The price is excellent, the owners are incredibly responsive, the caretaker is a sweetheart who aims to please and everything you might need is within walking distance. The crashing waves rake the beach a block away where you can observe the magnitude of nature's beauty, a fully stocked miniature grocoery store is a few steps away, as are several nice restaurants . I stayed in the perfect room tucked in the back, away from other renters with superior air conditioning, outstanding cleaniless and the softest sheets on the planet, and yes, I've stayed in a multitude of extraordinary five (5) star New York and European hotels. Being at Casa Azul was a dream, the plunge pool and I became fast friends, the veranda is paired with suitable outdoor furniture, plenty of shade, umbrellas and plenty of sun, beautiful, mature tropical plants abound...Well maintained and comfy I felt as though I literally had the place all to myself at the height of their winter season no less! My favorite place on the property was right outside my door, sitting in a chair with my feet up on another reading a great book and sipping coffee by day and beer by night. I highly reccomend this sweet gem of a place nestled among the locals!
This is a great place, the room was clean and just the right size for us. The pool was close and we were in it everyday. It is located in a nice area away from all the tourist. Close enough to town to walk and we did many times. We rented a golf cart one day, but we enjoyed the walk. Lori and Jim are the best people and will help you whenever you need. You just have to ask. We loved Cujio and Fang. We felt so comfortable and at home there , we can hardly wait to come back. Oh Jim I promise to ask you before I check with others. Lol😃
We stayed at Casa azul in May 2016 for several days. I had read all the reviews and it looked great especially for the price. The location is fine it's about mid way on the island in a local neighborhood which was fine. I have three things that I need to share. The unit was not clean. Meaning heavy layer of dust on curtains, in corners and ceiling fan. The second is you only get two towels every three days which might be ok but the beach and showering twice a day not good. The third is the bed - hard as a rock and the sheets smelled.
I have used vrbo for over 10 years several times a year and this is the first place that a rental has not met my expectations. I am not hard to please- really clean, towels and good bed. The dishes, silverware coffee pot all needed a good cleaning.
We rented a golf cart in town and it was perfect. You do need either a scooter or. Golf cart.
They did have over 200 tv channels and free wifi.
My hope is that Jim and Lori will make a few changes because this place could be great!!
Rodney and I have stayed at Casa Azul with Lori and Jim three or four times now. They and Isla has won our hearts and soul. Got a question of where to go or some place to try? Ask Lori and Jim. We enjoyed spending his birthday with him this year. We were there for two weeks this time and would have stayed longer but for appointments in the states. The local folks are the best folks too. We tried the laudress this time for a couple items and were not disappointed. Felt safe day or night. Place is clean and comfortable... Lori and Jim made sure of that.. And Shelley. Ate as much salsa as I wanted at the eaterys...Especially liked Rubens , Mangos, Mira Mars. Actually made a couple new friends this time. Very laid back and took our golf cart most times. I miss it terribly. We highly recommend Casa Azul. We missed the rooster in the morning tho!!!!! Think someone ate it..lol Thanks loads Jim and Lori and Cujoe...And Fang!!!!!
