Welcome to our family cottage that was originally built in 1936. The cottage was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel in 1954 and rebuilt with more rooms and a wrap-around porch. This is a real beach cottage for those who appreciate the nostalgia of knotty pine walls and porch swings rather than jacuzzi's and video games. The ocean and beach are your playground, but there's lot of other fun things to do just minutes away. A modern kitchen with all you need to fix a big family dinner and a dining table that seats twelve. Extra 'beach showers' are under the house and a outside shower is just off the porch for rinsing off after a swim in the ocean. Our seven families have enjoyed this cottage for more than 70 years and we are only offering limited weeks for rental. All week-long rentals are Sunday to Sunday. We will try to accommodate other dates if possible. 3-day minimum rental in off season only; one week minimum rental in high season. Cleaning fee of $250 required. Refundable security deposit of $200. Bring or rent your own linens. Half rental fee due at signing with remainder paid 30-days prior to visit. Certified checks, money orders and now credit cards accepted. Tax rate of 14% for state and New Hanover County taxes.

My grandfather built this cottage in 1936 and our seven families have enjoyed the cottage ever since. My cousins and I spent nearly a month at the cottage each year when we were young and enjoyed surfing, fishing, crabbing, going downtown, watermelon on the dune deck and more...which made for a wonderful childhood. Now my daughters enjoy the cottage during our family week.
Adam Jones purchased this cottage in 1936
Carolina Beach has a beautiful strand that stretches from the northern extension all the way to Fort Fisher. It's a short drive from several neighboring states and only 2.5 hours from the Raleigh area. The downtown area and boardwalk are newly renovated with walkways, swings and more. Public tennis courts, lake with paddle boats and more are just a walk or bike ride away.
You will be able to relax at a real beach cottage with porch rockers and hammocks. Walk 100 feet down our walkway to the beach for a day of sun, sand and sea. At night you can walk downtown to the arcades, rides and other fun things along the Carolina Beach boardwalk. Fireworks every Thursday night at 9pm during the summer months and our dune deck is the perfect spot to view the light show.
We came back for our second year in a row and love this cottage. My father stays in a downstairs bedroom and can walk straight to the beach before encountering any stairs. Great porches and right on the beach.
Brothers, sisters in-law, kids, grandchild all met here for a week long vacation. We couldn't have chosen a better, more accommodating place to stay. If you are looking for fancy, plush, etc., do not stay here. But if you are looking for the classic big family, nostalgic cottage, stay here! Everything you need is here. There was nothing that we needed that wasn't provided, except for linens of course. I was concerned at first that 16 people in a house would feel overwhelmingly crowded but I was wrong. Everyone had their own space, could retreat to be alone if they wanted or enjoy each others' company out on the covered porch in the rocking chairs or up on the dune deck overlooking the ocean. Restaurants and entertainment was in walking distance. When you are in the home, you can truly sense the history of it and see the love that has been poured into the place over the years. Through the pictures on the walls, the books including history of the home and the surrounding area. As a lifelong beach goer, this was truly a wonderful, nostalgic vacation for me and I hope I passed on those memories to the younger ones that were there with us. If you have the opportunity to stay in Carolina Beach, please stay here. It will be the most restful, relaxing stay you will every find. The cottage owners were very easy to work with during our transaction as well as going above and beyond answering our questions.
The cottage has all the room our extended family of 14+ needs. We have spent three summers vacationing at the cottage. It is close enough to everything down town that the 8 teenagers we have between us can never say they are bored. While the adults enjoy the beach view to just relax. We cannot wait to go back next summer!
