Barry is a retired pilot. He flew F15's in the USAF and then for Fed Ex. Suzette is a nurse and is managing an Orthopedic practice and surgery centers. We have 3 sons, 3 grandsons, and a granddaughter due in November 2015. We live in Florida, but we have some wonderful friends / caretakers that keep the cabin in tip top shape.
Suzette Gramm purchased this cabin in 2009
The house was owned by Suzette's sister who did many wonderful upgrades and initial decor of the cabin. We enjoyed many family vacations in the cabin and when my sister wanted to sell the cabin we purchased it to keep it in the family.
The view from the deck is unsurpassed in the area and the deck is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Having lived in Florida so long, we really enjoy that we can enjoy all 4 seasons at the cabin. Townsend is on the "quiet side" of the mountain yet close enough to Knoxville, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge to enjoy the "touristy" stuff and then come back to the cabin for relaxation and family time.
Thank you for the opportunity to rent your Townsend cabin on Nov. 7-9. I tried to do the review on the website but couldn't get it to scroll down. We would definitely rate our stay 5 stars. Our family of 11 loved the cabin. While we have always loved Townsend they always preferred to stay in Gatlinburg. When we were leaving they said they voted to make this place our annual birthday retreat. We hope we left everything in top shape.
Place worked so well for my elderly mom and my college kids! Very well stocked with games and activities, my kids loved the pool table that converted into a ping pong table! Loved the supply of video games too!! View was spectacular! Mom sat outside for hours just enjoying the view and watching the cows! Only one tiny complaint. The couch in the main room is well loved and worn. Had to be careful when you sat down that you didn't land on the wood frame that was under the cushions. It's probably seen some better days! But the older leather furniture made it easy not to worry about our pets leaving hair on the furniture. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us! I can tell why you are such a popular place to stay! We'll be back!
My family has stayed in many cabins in Townsend throughout the years. This was by far our best experience. The owner is wonderful to work with and answered all questions that I had prior to our stay. The home is in great condition and exceptionally clean and well stocked with anything and everything you could possibly need. We felt right at home. The view from the front porch is beautiful. It is a very peaceful and relaxing environment. We cannot wait to return!!!
Great stay as usual We'll be back April 2018
This was our 2nd annual get together with extended family members and once again it was enjoyed by all, veterans and newbies alike! The view from the porch and den/dining area is one of the best in the area. The lodge is a great place to hang out either inside or out.
This was about our 5th time to stay here. My 5-year old granddaughter yelled out there's my house as we pulled in the driveway.
This is the perfect jumping off place whether Gatlinburg or Cades Cove is the choice for the day's adventures. Even rainy days are pleasurable, as you sit on the covered porch watching the cows amble across the pasture.
The house is the perfect setup for families with different age groups. The basement is its own environment with a living room set up with ping pong and foosball table as well as a mini kitchen and its own entrance.
Just remember not to book all the weeks as my family will be fack this fall.
Overall we (party of 7, ages 10 to 70) had a lovely time in this cabin. We found it as described, clean and well furnished. The beds were extremely comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and the many quilts were beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, looking at the mountains. The two separate living areas were a plus.
There were two things that "took away" the 5th star. We were a little disappointed by the misrepresentation of the cabin's location based on the pin position on the HomeAway map. Although not far from Townsend, it is on the other side of the river from where it is shown. The other problem was the TV connection. It seems to be totally Internet based (which was very fast) and could be a problem for people without a streaming service provider (like us). We signed up for a trial period with Hulu and were able to watch enough TV to keep the troops from revolting.
Overall though, we were happy with the cabin and would stay here again if we were in need of a 5 bedroom cabin. It is a nice quiet location , yet very close to all activities.
