The Cozy Cottage on Church Street is an 'Architectural Jewel' nestled among the few historical homes that line this charming street. Situated in the heart of downtown Asheville, a mere 2 blocks from the very center of downtown, all the activities and excitement of downtown are only a short walk away.
This 100 year old historical cottage has been lovingly restored in 2005 and is equipped with all the amenities of modern living yet keeping the ambiance of yesteryear. All new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing - our cottage is in perfect shape. The heart of pine wooden floors, stair railings and pocket doors are original to the house and have been beautifully refinished.
Whether you are a group of friends, old classmates, golf buddies or just your family, this is the downtown home that offers everything you may need to refresh, re-unite and build wonderful memories together.
Our guests love spending time on our shaded and relaxing large front porch, a great place to visit with each other, enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The porch overlooks a well manicured front yard with an artfully designed Mountain Laurel fence. The large back patio offers plenty of seating to enjoy a meal outdoors or just to hang out together. If you prefer to eat in and relax in the warmth of the adjoining dining room, enjoy our fully functional kitchen (large French Door refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave and plenty of cabinets and utensils for you to use). The living room offers a cozy environment for reading, movies, games or just visiting with your friends and family. The house has three TVs, each with a DVD player and one with a VCR (we have DirecTV on 3 TVs). The cottage has 2 bathrooms. The second floor bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, the downstairs bathroom has a shower and accommodates a washer and dryer for you to use.
We offer a rare bonus for a downtown vacation home with plenty of paved parking for you & your entourage behind our home and two private large porches to enjoy the outdoors, an advantage that hotels and most other downtown rentals can not offer.
We are only a short 5 minute drive to the Biltmore Estate and many other highly sought after local attractions. The Biltmore Estate, built by George Vanderbilt, is the largest privately owned home in America. The Estate is world famous for replanting their splendid gardens each season. They own one of the most amazing private art collections in the world and their winery and culinary tantalizing restaurants are highly acclaimed. If visiting Asheville in December, a visit to the 'Christmas at Biltmore Estate' is a must to experience. The Grove Park Inn has an amazing 'One of a Kind Nationwide Gingerbread Exhibition & Competition', held every December and the Grove Park's enormous double stone fireplaces are to be enjoyed with a steaming cup of hot chocolate (I promise, it is an unforgettable experience!!). We have made both of these events our annual Christmas traditions since discovering Asheville in 2003. We are within walking distance to the newly redesigned Pack Square Plaza that enjoys outdoor concerts and festivals throughout the seasons. Downtown is full of wonderful diverse restaurants and coffee shops, unique boutique shopping, award winning art galleries, quaint grocery stores, museums, theaters, architecturally delightful buildings and historically significant monuments and landmarks. All of this and much more are just minutes from our lovely cottage enjoyed by foot.
Hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, rafting, winter skiing, snow boarding and motoring the Blue Ridge Parkway at any season is a delight. Explore and enjoy Asheville to fully experience why it is rated one of top tourist destinations. We look forward to seeing you soon.

We love Asheville & have been visiting for many years! Eventually, we decided to purchase a 'vacation' home which we have lovingly restored and furnished. We are delighted to share this beautiful cottage with others interested in the beauty and splendor of the mountains and the vibrant lifestyle of downtown Asheville.
Terri & Carl purchased this cottage in 2004
Love Asheville & love the downtown! We live in Charleston, but now consider Asheville our 2nd home and come back as often as possible. We love the beauty and climate of the mountains and enjoy the eclectic and vibrant lifestyle that is Asheville.
The Cozy Cottage is literally right in the heart of it all! You are staying 'downtown' in the middle of all the excitement, yet just a couple blocks off Pack Square, the heart of downtown, on a charming, well manicured one-way street. You get to experience everything that Asheville has to offer, then retire to the comforts of your relaxing & welcoming cottage.
Our cottage has a large front and back porch, an advantage that hotels and many other rentals do not offer. We also provide parking for 3 to 4 vehicles in the rear of the cottage.
A fantastic stay, the house was amazing. We were snowed in for four days and never got bored as the house was so cozy and comfortable. We had so much fun in those 4 days and made wonderful memories playing in the snow and having snow ball fights in the front yard. I will return again and again.
Very comfortable, well appointed home. The home's location is fantastic...So close to everything in downtown Asheville!
We hardly moved our car the during our entire trip. We walked to numerous of the awesome restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We walked to many of Asheville's wonderful shops and to the theater. We even walked to the Christmas Eve service we attended at one of the beautiful historic churches nearby. The cottage is very clean and the beds very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back. The owners were very easy to work with and provided a lot of very helpful information to enhance our stay. Don't hesitate to stay at The Cozy Cottage for your trip to Asheville!
We had a wonderful time staying at cozy cottage. The location was wonderful, we were able to walk anywhere we desired to go. We had delicious food at The Lobster Trap and The Blackbird Cafe. Check in was very easy and convenient. The owner was very attentive and responded quickly to any request. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for the six of us to spread out and have privacy. We definitely look forward to staying here again in the near future. Thank you for the use of your beautiful home.
This house is so beautiful, yet very comfortable and has everything you would need for a wonderful stay. It is easy to walk to everything in downtown Asheville. I only wish we had stayed longer and enjoyed the front porch!! I would rent this house again!!
This was a lovely place to stay in Asheville. There are 72 restaurants in Asheville, each better than the next and we were in walking distance to many of them. The house was clean and well appointed with artwork from some of the great galleries in the area. The house is two blocks from the Blue Spiral, the best art gallery I have ever seen. The Shrimp and Grits at Honey Tupelo were amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the porch on the quiet oneway street near three beautiful churches and felt very safe walking around at night. We received prompt return of our security deposit and appreciated Terri working with us on avoiding the credit card fee associated with booking. I highly suggest remitting electronically to avoid the fee. I must say I am reluctant to post this review as I want this property available for our next stay. This is a keeper!
Cozy Cottage is aptly named, it is a charming, ideally located, quiet, clean, and comfortable cottage. Secure parking behind the house allowed us to park and forget about cars since we could walk to outstanding restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again.
We only stayed one night in Asheville but this beautiful home is in the perfect location to experience the old downtown area with all the restaurants, museums and history within walking distance. We took the Greyline Hop on Hop Off trolley tour and were able to see everything. I would highly recommend this residence as it is well appointed and has everything you will need with plenty of room and immaculately clean. Thank you to the owners for accepting our reservation!!
Biltmore Estate is 7 minutes away.
