This is a great 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo that we regularly use as a place for friends and relatives to stay. Now available to others! As owners, we live in another condo in this same building as our primary residence. Happy to help out with tourist info & restaurant advice!

The location is arguably the best in the city. It's on a quiet, upscale residential street on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, just 1 block above the action of North Beach. Happy to mention: we are NOT located on a busy street or down a dark alley!

It's a middle flat (second floor) in a 3-story building, the space is 1,250 sq. ft. The floor plan is modern and open, with high ceilings, hardwood floors throughout, and quiet bedrooms in the back. There is a queen bed in the large master bedroom and another queen bed in the second, smaller bedroom. The third bedroom/ office has a full (double) bed and a big desk. One bathroom is off the main hallway, the other is off the master bedroom. The kitchen has been remodeled and updated with stainless steel and granite. The bathrooms are all updated as well. 46-inch HDTV with cable and DVD player, WiFi for Internet, full size kitchen appliances plus dishwasher, bathtub, closet space, etc.

The neighborhood and location are great. There are more than 100 restaurants covering at least 10 different nationalities within 5 walking blocks of our place. Plus lots of nearby shopping, boutiques, etc. We're 1 block to the center of North Beach, and an easy (downhill) walk to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Chinatown, and Downtown. Both Coit Tower and the Transamerica Pyramid are just a few blocks away. 20 min. walk (or 8 min. taxi) to Moscone Center. Walk score = 100/100!

The place is up on a hill, so it does require a bit of walking. But being on the hill is how we get the views! If you like urban hiking, this location is perfect. If not, we're two blocks from the major bus routes that will take you to any of the tourist destinations in the city.

There are nice city views from the front windows and great panoramic views from the roof. The closest Cable Car stop is an easy 10 minute walk through North Beach. An organic grocery store and a convenience store are both located about a block away. Most of our visitors find they do not need a car.

Expand your trip beyond SF: walk to Fisherman's Wharf and get a rental car for the day to visit Wine Country (Napa and/or Sonoma), Muir Woods, Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, or Pebble Beach. For a closer side-trip: Sausalito, Tiburon, and Angel Island are accessible via Ferry.

About The Owner

We're a young professional couple; we live in the top-floor unit in this building as our primary residence. Happy to help out with tourist info & restaurant advice!

Why The Owner chose San Francisco

The location is fantastic, ideal for people who want to visit one of the best areas of San Francisco. Within walking distance of North Beach, Coit Tower, Chinatown, Union Square, The Financial District, the Ferry Building, Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and The Crooked Street (Lombard).

What makes this condo unique

The condo itself is great, but the unique value here is in the LOCATION. There are so many great 'San Francisco' things to do within walking distance. And the ability to walk to 100+ restaurants (starting as close as one block down the hill) cannot be beat!

Great visit

  • 5 of 5

4 of us stayed at this rental and it was perfect! Very comfortable and had everything. The rooftop deck was awesome with great views. Great location in the city. We walked to many places but also used Lyft and Uber all week long to get to other parts of the city. Lots of great restaurants and bars in the area. The city is great and we visited most sights like Alcatraz, Lombard St, Fishermans Wharf, Goldengate Park and the Goldengate Bridge and took a bus tour to Muir Woods.

I recommend good walking shoes or sneakers!! Lots of hilly streets!!

Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Four of us stayed Sept. 27 - Oct. 4, 2016. You could search for a million years and not find a better rental flat in San Francisco. Best features: location, flat layout, and owner Jeff’s exceptional attention to detail. Worst features: (cue sound of crickets – nothing bad to say!). Jeff is such a nice guy, available to help, but not intrusive in any way. Flat is located in a quiet residential area. Yes, heed other reviews warning that the flat is located on a fairly steep hill. But that is San Francisco, so to be expected. Two back bedrooms were incredibly quiet. Front bedroom facing street was surprisingly quiet as well. Two fans kept the temperature comfortable on the warmer nights. Thrilled to find the refrigerator stocked with: bottled water, a few craft beers, butter, coffee, and ice cubes. Nice touch having a bowl of Ghirardelli chocolate squares on the kitchen table. Rooftop terrace provides sweeping city views, but can be very windy. All appliances worked perfectly. Great water pressure and hot water in the bathrooms. Good supply of cleaning products to use prior to check-out. As far as tourist info, Jeff supplies city map, tour books, and a large binder full of menus for local restaurants. We took his dining recommendations and were never disappointed. Two bus stops very convenient to the flat (one for routes 10, 12; another for routes 8, 30). Coit Tower within walking distance. Even Grace Cathedral (head west), Ferry Building Marketplace (head east), and Fisherman’s Wharf (head north) are walkable (20-25 minute range). Chinatown and North Beach are only 5-10 minutes away. This flat is the perfect base for many wonderful attractions. I’d particularly recommend Vantigo (for city tour), Max Napa Tours (for winery tour), and if you’re feeling adventurous, head to Mission district for Mission Dolores. In Chinatown, make a point to visit the Tien Hau Temple on Waverly Place (between Washington & Clay). No photos allowed, as it’s an active temple. It’s like stepping into another world –beautiful and atmospheric. Because Fisherman’s Wharf is easily reachable by bus or walking, I’d recommend touring the ships at Hyde Street Pier. If interested in riding the cable cars, take the advice that says to ride early (between 6 and 7 am). Otherwise, you will have an ungodly long wait, only to be stuffed like a sardine onto the cable car and unable to enjoy the views.

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of 4 Adults and 1 child . All correspondence was promptly responded to by the owner and additional information was supplied prior to arriving. We were not disappointed on our arrival the accommodation was ideal for our family 3 beautiful bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The location was ideal close to all the places we wanted to visit. Great eating places at the bottom of the street. San Fransisco is a great place to visit for all ages and would recommend this location to all my friends. Thanks Jeff for a great time the family will be back.

Highest recommendation!

  • 5 of 5

This is the first time I have used VRBO but the experience was fabulous! Jeff met us right away so we could get in and was very responsive via email and text. The flat worked perfectly for our 4 person family - everyone had their own room which meant everyone slept well! The location is excellent for restaurants - so many good places nearby and wonderful bakeries and coffee shops. It was also convenient for sight seeing and we walked to Chinatown, Fisherman's wharf to see the sea lions, Coit Tower, the Vallejo and Filbert steps (looked for parrots but did not see any this visit), and Ghiradelli Square. We liked the Walt Disney Museum at the Presidio and the Palace of Fine Arts also and took uber to get there. Our favorite restaurants were House of Nanking for Chinese (the sesame chicken was delicious), Stella's Bakery for treats, Tony's for pizza and if the wait is too long just go next door and get the pizza to go and take it back to the flat, and Firenze by Night for Italian. If you're there on a Sunday, Glide Memorial UMC has an amazing gospel choir and it's worth the trip via cab or uber (the neighborhood is not great and also not close). Loved staying here - so much nicer and more convenient than a hotel!

Jeff was an AMAZING host and his home away from home was absolutely outstanding and convenient to everything. Anything we could want was supplied. Jeff met us on arrival and was so accomadating, including some very special requests that included retrieving some belongings from the trash and mailing them to us!!! Would tell everyone to book with Jeff. Thank you Jeff for a wonderful visit and for helping us so much!

Great apartment!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in SF! The apartment was a good size for us - two adults, two older kids. Very comfortable and neat. Jeff was very helpful with suggestions of restaurants, things to do, etc. He met us when we got there and introduced himself and showed us the condo. This was our kids' first visit to SF, so we did all the usual tourist attractions...Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, biking the Golden Gate Bridge, Ghirardelli Square, Segway tour of Golden Gate Park (very cool!). We did lots of walking and this condo was well appointed in the city (although it is on a pretty steep hill so be prepared and wear good shoes!!). The only place we used uber was to Golden Gate Park, other than that, we walked everywhere. There are lots of good restaurants close by - we ate at Original Joes, Tony's Pizza, House of Nanking, Calzones. For your morning coffee, do yourself a favor and walk a block down from the condo to Cafe Trieste - the coffee is SO good. Overall, a great experience!
