About John Gadomski

I take great pride of ownership in this house. One day I would like to retire to this home. I love the great outdoors that is available in the Sierra Nevada Mtns. I am an avid down hill skier. I have worked hard to make this a very fun home to rent. I also enjoy fishing during the Summer in Boca and Stampede Reservoirs.

John Gadomski purchased this cabin in 2001

Why John Gadomski chose Truckee

Very fun house with lots of fun things to do included. Easy access. Flat driveway. Close to highway 80. Close to shopping. Close to several ski areas and golf courses. Great southern exposure for lots of sun. Professionally cleaned and well maintained. Well stocked kitchen.

Great for 2 families, Bunny slope out back for sledding. Man Cave downstairs with easy access to hot tub.

What makes this cabin unique

Lots of sunshine. Faces due south. Split upstairs for adults and separate downstairs for kids to have fun. Private backyard setting. Well built home with modern windows-- no drafts. Great hydronic heating system. Discounts for repeat renters. Great bunny hill out back for kids to sled on. Sleds are provided. Close to several great golf courses

Guestbook comments from the manager

Hi John. Our trip was great and the house was super. The kids loved being able to sled in the backyard, play many of the games you have in the house (backgammon got a lot of action) and of course the ping pong table was popular with all four of us. Our only minor complaint is that the bed in the master is not a king size. Sleeping in it was fine though we have small kids who often come into our bed at night (we have a king at home) and there was no way we could fit them in with us when needed. Not a big deal but as a renter with small kids it would have been nice to have had a larger bed in the master.

Thanks again for renting to us. We all really enjoyed the house, its layout was ideal for hanging out together. The new couch is great.

Take care...

Awesome getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved the place. It was awesome. John was nice to call to make sure we were settled in and to answer any questions we had. It seemed like he really wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. The home was very clean as well. I hope to go back out next year.

The property was great, perfect for our needs: convenient to downtown Truckee

The property was great, perfect for our needs: convenient to downtown Truckee, stores, restaurants & parks.

The open set up of the kitchen, dining & living room was nice; no one felt left out while cooking. and the pool & ping pong tables, games, TV & hot tub downstairs was great. The owners have/share an amazing number of games for children of all ages!

This house was very comfortable for the 10 of us; 5 adults and 5 children and I will rent it again!

Sincerely, Keelin

We loved our stay at Alpine escape. The house is large, open and has a great layout. Lots of things for the kids and family to do if indoors and there is a huge open space in back to play right outside!! Hot tub was clean and in great condition! I am trying to find the next available time that we can visit again!! I would highly recommend this home!

Family friendly cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin worked out great for two families with kids to stay. Our children (16, 16 & 19) stayed in the downstairs game room which had a pool table, game table, TV, full bath, bunk bed and two queen size futons with the hot tub outside as well as foos ball and ping-pong in the garage. There is a bar down there too. The adults stayed upstairs, which had a large great room with kitchen and dining table as well as 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The location made it easy to access since the roads are not too steep and the cabin is not far off a main plowed road. This was a bonus since we arrived after a major snowstorm. We will definitely stay here again...thank you to John who is very helpful and accommodating!

Car: necessary

Golfers: With no homes in sight and one of the most dramatic par 3s you'll ever play, Coyote Moon Golf Course is a must-play for any visitor to the Lake Tahoe area. The 13th is a 227-yard par 3 with a 200-foot drop. That could be an 8-iron for a good player, but you have to get it right because short is unplayable due to a creek that runs in front of the green, and long usually doesn't work out too well, either. The 13th is hardly the only highlight, though. There are elevated tees everywhere, howling coyotes and a tough finishing stretch, highlighted by the par-4 17th, which plays over a lake and doglegs around the trees.

Old Greenwood Golf Course; Truckee, Calif.

If you want to play a U.S. top-100 course designed by Jack Nicklaus in a spectacular setting, this is it. Originally built as a private club, this premium semi-private facility has the views, conditioning and layout that warrant its $200 green fees. Old Greenwood Golf Course is fairly player friendly as far as Nicklaus layouts go, but tackle it from the maximum yardage of around 7,300 yards and it's all the golf most players can handle.

The Golf Club at Gray's Crossing; Truckee, Calif.

The Golf Club at Gray's Crossing, another semi-private course with impeccable conditioning and views, is Old Greenwood's sister course. Like Old Greenwood, it opened as a private club in 2007. Designed by Jim Hardy and player consultant Peter Jacobsen, this wooded course with Mt. Rose as its backdrop stretches to 7,466 yards from the way backs, but there are six sets of tees for everyone to enjoy. One of the highlights is the driveable par-4 sixth, which plays 304 yards from an elevated tee.

Schaffer's Mill Golf & Lake Club; Truckee, Calif.

If you're in the area, be sure to save Monday for Schaffer's Mill Golf & Lake Club (formerly Timilick) near Truckee. That's because it's a private club only open to the unaccompanied guests on Monday. This beautiful Johnny Miller and John Harbottle III design -- with its superior practice facilities, clubhouse and impeccable conditions -- is really a tale of two golf courses. The outward nine weaves through a meadow, and the back nine showcases a mountain look with elevation change up to 400 feet
