About David EMR

Being a Portland native with an Architecture Degree & my hand in Real Estate I absolutely love getting away to this little piece of paradise.

David EMR purchased this cabin in 2007

Why David EMR chose Oregon

Family, friends, skiing; being closer to all the things we love. After buying & extensively remodeling this enchanted log cabin to the beauty it is today, we found that we were only able to use it a few days a month. Now we get to share it with others who appreciate being in an old growth forest with the finer comforts in life.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A friend and I stayed in David's cabin on our first hiking trip in Oregon, and we couldn't have found a more perfect place. The location is ideal - a quiet wooded area close to some of the best hiking trails around Mount Hood - and the cabin itself is comfortable, very inviting and excellently equipped with all modern appliances. I can recommend it wholeheartedly! (And I'm definitely going back there again for my next trip to Oregon).

Beautiful, charming, and elegant.

  • 5 of 5

How does one find a cabin that is rustic yet elegant? It's a tall order, but look no further. If you are looking to get away with spouse or having an intimate quiet getaway with friends this cabin is perfect! I don't think I'd bring kids just because it would disturb the beautiful silence that I so enjoyed during my stay. The kitchen is well equipped and clean. The bathroom was my favorite, the tub is a dream. If you are a die hard shower person this bathroom won't be ideal because it's not a shower, it's a tub+ sprayer. The bed was really cozy and the warm lighting was perfect for snuggling up with a book. I was a little dishearted when I read the fireplace was gas but it feels very real (and you don't have to chop wood). We will go back for sure.

Absolutely perfect mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

This property is twice as pretty in person. We arrived at night and this is deep in the forest with almost no one around. We had to wait until morning to see just how beautiful the grounds really are. It's perfectly situated close to great restaurants and the mountain. We went to Timberline snow for Thanksgiving day and were back by the fire for turkey later. It is a cozy cabin with a huge commercial kitchen. It had one of everything you'd need with a grocery store close by. Bedrooms were comfortable and accommodating. Bathroom is new and clean with a tub only, but a handheld shower head for rinsing. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for solitude or a great place to start for seeing the rest of the mountain.

Beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

I booked this cabin for a weekend getaway with my young daughter. David responded right away to my booking request, answered any questions promptly, and provided a helpful packet of information on the cabin and the area prior to our arrival. The cabin is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The beds and linens were top notch and very comfortable, providing a couple of the best nights of sleep I've had in a long time. The bedrooms were also fully appointed with cozy chairs, reading lamps and television. The cabin was easy to find, but tucked far enough away from major roads that it felt completely remote and quiet. There are a few other houses nearby but I hardly noticed, you could hear a pin drop in the woods at night. There are restaurants, groceries, coffee (and a liquor store) just a short drive away on Hwy 26. Wifi worked perfectly. It rained most of the weekend of our visit so we cozied up next to the fire, took advantage of the big claw foot tub, watched movies, cooked and relaxed. It was a perfect place for rest and rejuvenation.

Great Cabin in the Mount Hood National Forrest

  • 4 of 5

We spent labor day weekend at this property and we had a blast. The cabin is close to numerous hiking trails (we did a large section of the timberline trail, and the Bald Mountain Trail from Lolo pass). Everything was as described as in the listing and the property was very clean and well maintained. Our only complaint was the bathtub, it is very hard to shower with the current set up (the shower head does not mount to a wall and you are forced to either sit while you shower yourself, or make a big mess in the bathroom if you chose to stand, or take a bath which is not ideal during a hiking trip!) We utilized the amazing kitchen that the property is equipped with and had lunch at the whistle stop down hwy 26. Overall it was a great time in the woods

Great Little Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

I just stayed here in Mid-July and thought this was a great little cabin to stay in. It's across 26 from some excellent places to eat and has an outstanding kitchen if you want to cook. (The gas stove took us a while to figure out, but it works well - yes, we are used to gas stoves).

There was some construction going on up on the way to Govt. Camp, but the cabin was located well away from any traffic issues that might have raised.

One thing to note is that there is only a handheld shower sprayer in the bathroom tub, or just the bathtub itself. The view around the cabin is gorgeous in the woods and the road is great getting to it.

The nearest foodstore (Tradeway?) is a great place to stock up on any needed produce or foodstuffs. The mart in Rhododendren was less of a grocery store, more of a corner mart in its quality of wares.

One other thing of note was we couldn't figure out how to open the windows at one point as it got a little warm from cooking and the AC didn't seem to be changing at all - but this is a minor complaint.

All in all a wonderful area, and a great cabin to discover it in while remaining close to many of the great local establishments!
