My husband and I purchased this property in late 2009 and have been through months of renovations to make this property into a comfortable, casual, stylish, relaxing place. I love mid-century modern architecture/Palm Springs modern. We live in Orange County, California, about 1 hour from the property--in another mid-century house.

Why Susan Karlshoej chose Palm Springs

I looked for a long time at dozens of properties in Palm Springs, I wanted a quiet neighborhood, no power lines obstructing the beautiful view of the mountains, and good interior space in a mid-century house. It is difficult all of those things in one property but the result was well worth the months of looking and months of renovating. I only wish I could air-lift this house to replace my main residence in Orange County!

This house in unbelievable in every way. Stayed here with a group of friends. Everything was immaculate, kitchen was fully outfitted (and we have several cooks in the group), the recent renovations like the bathroom were simply gorgeous. The outdoor space was beautifully landscaped and comfortable but luxurious feeling. Bed linen was fresh and clean - absolutely great night sleep. My room had a lovely closet and small desk. There was a definitely attention to detail and thought put into what people would need for a comfortable stay. Location was also pretty perfect - close to the center of town, grocery store, etc. But, really aside from food shop, there was very little reason to leave. Fantastic sound system throughout the house and outdoor areas heightened our enjoyment. Owner left full details about the house and instructions on how to leave the property so you didn't have to think about anything. I appreciated this. Things were labeled and you could just give in to the vacation. Also i got my deposit check back almost as soon as i got back. Fantastic experience all round - from the property to the interactions with the owner, who is lovely btw. Thanks so much for a truly wonderful weekend. I like to think i have particular tastes when staying at hotels and rental properties and this one was perfect!

Everything in this house is meticulously maintainged--kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, furniture, air con--everything. Great kitchen for cooking and entertaining. Well spaced bedrooms for privacy. Plenty of outdoor seating for poolside- or veranda lounging or dining alfresco in the soft desert air.

This house had EVERYTHING we needed, close enough to town, but perfect enough in itself.

Pretty, private, backyard with beautiful fire pit, jacuzzi and salt water pool heated just right (and with easy instructions), the kitchen had everything we needed (including a powerful blender). The owner made sure you knew she was available, but everything was in working order and plainly labeled so we never needed her. The mountain views out the kitchen window were great. A quiet neighborhood with lots of hummingbirds and we even spotted an owl one night. Because the bedrooms and bathrooms are on either side of the kitchen/dining room/living room the early risers didn't worry about disturbing the late nighters, a great set-up for large groups and families with small kids. My friends and I are coming back, best experience with a VRBO ever!!!!!

Owner's Response: I'm so very glad that you enjoyed your stay at Via Miraleste! The hummingbirds love playing Top Gun around the yard, but I have never seen an owl at Via Miraleste before! Yes! the house is set up with a north wing of bedrooms and a south wing of bedrooms so you can have nappers and non-nappers, early birds and night owls living in harmony. Incredible property- Great host

We were a group of 8 adults staying at Susie's place. I cannot say enough about how great this spot is. Our group was incredible comfortable. The place is close to everything, but still offers a great deal of privacy. The backyard is an oasis where we spent a tonne of time relaxing and enjoying each other's company. I can't wait to visit again.

Exceeded all expectations!

This property is just incredible! We came to Palm Springs looking for some sun... Unfortunately, we were greeted by two days of rain. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay due to the amazing accomodations and our fabulous host, Susie. We were able to enjoy the hot tub during a drizzle, and when it got really bad, Susie offered us pay per view free of charge! Because the house was so spacious, we weren't all that bothered being stuck indoors. Susie was so easygoing and helpful; she even offered us an extra day due to our awful weather! (We couldn't take her up on the offer, but how sweet?!)

We would not hesitate to rent this property again!

Haker christmas

When we arrived ( we were allowed to come early which was a great help ) the property was ready for us to move in.The pool was a toasty 85 degrees although the weather was cool. The hot tub was great.The house was spotlessly clean and supplied with everything we needed. The location is great close to downtown Palm Springs easy to shop and dine. We enjoyed our stay very much and will be back. The only suggestion I have is to put a light by the grill for night cooking. I would also like to add how great and helpful Susie was to work with. It's easy to tell that she cared about our stay.Thanks again See you next year. Lynn Haker
