House, 6 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 12-14)
I was raised on a dairy farm that was unique in that we processed and packaged the milk ourselves and distributed it throughout much of County Clare. We sold that side of the business in 1998 but we still live on the farm where we now raise beef cattle. When I married my wife Mary, we built a new home on the farm and since then we totally renovated the old farm house I grew up in and started doing self catering. We now have three beautiful homes in different locations for self catering and enjoy meeting new faces all the time.
Owner purchased this House in 2000
Why Owner chose
We loved the Burren National Park and spent most of free time driving or walking through it. We had a special love of the New Quay area because of the scenery and fabulous walking routes around it. In 1999 we started looking for a piece of land in the area that we could build a house on. Eventually we found this great site with views of the ocean and only three hundred yards from the local pub and restaurant. We went to an American architect who lived locally and between us we designed what we now call Lisheen House.
What makes this House unique
There are several benefits choosing this house. With its great space and two living rooms, one normally finds when families are staying with children, the children find their own space in the upstairs living room, leaving the adults free to do their own thing in the downstairs living area which is all part of the kitchen dining area allowing them to enjoy a drink and relax, while still keeping an eye on what is cooking at the same time. The location of the house is another benefit, the peace and quiet of the area and yet its proximity to the local pub / restaurant, harbour , sandy beech, beautiful walks , historic features and much more.

Excellent American “Friendsgiving” weekend!
Perfect amount of space for three families - great layout of bedrooms and bathrooms. Open kitchen/sunken living room made spending time together cooking and chatting easy relaxing and never feeling crowded. Everyone LOVED the location - beautiful walks around Flaggy Shore and to grab a pint at Linannes across the street. Also easy drive to Ballyvaughan or Kinvara for restaurants and groceries.
Only caveat has nothing to do with the house but just to let visitors know that by late November many of the pubs and restaurants significantly reduce the days/hours they are open. Even if their website says they are open it’s best to call first to ensure it’s accurate.
Would definitely be interested in renting this property again! Seamus was so easy to work with and very accommodating to our changing schedule when I was making the reservation - Thank you!
Fantastic in every way
Great house! Great location! Owners very helpful! Pub and restaurant at foot of street was great!! Highly recommended staying here. Close to Cliffs, Sheep dogs, falcons!
We loved our stay here. The area is beautiful and the restaurant & pub just down the way was delicious. We had a great time.
Wonderful house and location in New Quay!
This house is a beautiful large home with beautiful views. Seamus and Mary could not have been more gracious to us and we very much enjoyed meeting them and our stay. There are plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and 2 living rooms for a large group or family. Very spacious with a light, airy atmosphere. The roaring fire felt great on the chilly nights. Everything we needed was here and the location for touring Gallway and the Cliffs of Morher was great. Our favorite may have been the Pub just down the hill, an easy walk, with Paddy, the best bartender ever! The restaurant wasn't open yet for spring, but it would have been a great location for dinner, too. It was a good value this time of year, even just for 4 of us. Thanks so much!
Gorgeous home, great location, wish I had more time there.
Such a lovely place to stay if you're planning a visit to the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher.
Wonderful house for a group of 11!
I reserved the Lisheen House for a group of 11 friends visiting Ireland for the first time in mid September. Having never traveled internationally, I had so many questions about the house, rental payment, and fees. Seamus was so patient when answering my questions and concerns before actually booking. I worried about what he thought of the clueless American! Upon arrival, Seamus and his wife met us at the house, giving us a full tour and explained how everything worked. They were so friendly and gracious. The house was wonderful! Enough bedrooms, beds, and baths for everyone. Since I chose this house for our trip, I was thrilled when every one of my friends went on about how great the house was for our group. The large kitchen allowed us to sit around the table every evening for hours and share pictures, stories, play cards, and just enjoy our time together.
I hope to return to Ireland one day and I would definitely rent from Seamus.
