Overview

Arkansas Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-8)

Our cabin was built on the northeastern bluff of Petit Jean Mountain and is 750 feet above the base. Two miles of farmland lie between our cabin and the Arkansas River, and a panoramic mountain rimmed view extends over farmland to the north for over 20 miles. Cloud formations are incredibly beautiful at times and the atmosphere on the bluff is aways comfortable and relaxing. At night the star viewing is amazing.

Our cabin is actually a 1400 square ft house with two levels. There are three covered porches; two of them overlook the valley to the north and one of those is screened in. All the rooms to the rear of the house open to their respective porches.

This is located in a quiet woodland setting near the middle of three acres on the bluff of the mountain.

Some nearby areas of interest are: Rockefeller Institute and River Rock Grill (PJ Mtn); Petit Jean State Park; Mount Nebo State Park (Dardanelle); Mt. Magazine State Park (Magazine); Water sports w/fishing and boating at Lake Dardanelle State Park (Russellville); Frisbee golf (two courses - Russellville); Weideker and other wineries (Altus); Hot Springs National Park (Hot Springs); Clinton Presidential Library (Little Rock); and of course the beautiful Buffalo National River.

No Smoking, No Pets rental.

We require reservations to be made at least two weeks prior to arrival and for at least two consecutive nights. See Rate Details below for more information.

About Ray and /or Kathy Allen

We have been married over 32 years and love to explore. Kathy is an experienced RN and Ray is retired from Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville, Arkansas. We are the proud parents of six children (two girls, four boys) and currently have two lovely granddaughters.

We are outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, camping, water skiing, wild caving, and bicycling.

We enjoy volunteering and helping people when the opportunities arise.

Ray and /or Kathy Allen purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Ray and /or Kathy Allen chose Arkansas

Property next to our cabin/house has been in our family for the past 50 years. This cabin was built around 1995 and recently became available to us. We purchased this cabin in lieu of building a separate structure.

What makes this cabin unique

I enjoy watching the slow designs the farm equipment makes as fields are cut on the farmlands far below us and listening to the far off calls of cattle lowing in the evening. Storm cells moving across the valley any time of day are captivating, and watching the occasional crop duster work the fields below is a real treat.

I also enjoy sitting on the back porch and watching for river boats pushing barges up and down the river. These boats light up the river at night as they slowly push their loads along.

I enjoy drifting off to sleep on the second story hammock on the back porch and feeling the breeze coming up the side of the mountain.

There are only a few cabins/houses built on the bluffs of this entire mountain top and I always enjoy the fact that this is one of them. There's adventure here, and I like that too.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

My family consisting of my wife, 2 daughters and 2 son-in-laws had a great time. Hiking was great and coming home to the cabin was great. We loved the cabin and enjoyed the screen porch. Very welcoming.

DELIGHTFUL CABIN

  • 5 of 5

Allen's Cabin is a delightful place to stay with a very nice view of the valley and Arkansas River. The owner's, Ray and Kathy, were helpful in every respect, and helped to make our Christmas stay a real treat.

I recommend their cabin to anyone looking for a special place to stay at Petit Jean Mountain!

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

The Allens' Cabin is the perfect place for spending quality time with loved ones and with nature. The cabin itself is perfectly designed for both relaxing and exploring. The double storied decks extend gorgeous views over the Arkansas river valley and in combination with the beautiful landscaping (including a rock waterfall and stone fire circle!) they facilitate a harmony with the outdoors even in winter. Inside, the cabin is full of exciting amenities such as a gas fireplace, a fully stocked kitchen, fast internet, and great entertainment features. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and the bathrooms are luxurious. Everything is in perfect condition and the Allens have lots of information and insight into the area.

Beautiful cabin on Petit Jean Mountain

  • 5 of 5

Allens' Cabin turned out to be just perfect for our Thanksgiving vacation. The cabin itself is extremely clean, well furnished, comfortable, and homey. The view is fantastic, overlooking the Arkansas river, with the farmland below. The kids loved running around outside, and especially enjoyed the fire pit, which we used to make s'mores! We also loved that the cabin is so close to Petit Jean Mountain State Park . We were able to hike and walk on the trails every day, and couldn't get over the beautiful scenery, especially Cedar Falls. We would definitely stay there again. We highly recommend it.
