Steve and Mary Ann Boucher have owned and operated Driftwood since their purchase in 2004. They are natives to the area. After working with a local rental company and having great success, they have decided to try VRBO's website as it offers more information to the customer and gives them even more exposure. They are very passionate about offering a vacation rental to 'build memories that will last a lifetime.'
MARY ANN purchased this house in 2004
Driftwood was owned by a family friend of Steve's parents who approached Steve and Mary Ann after living there for 54 years...with Steve being a general contractor the previous owner knew that Steve would bring it back to it's original state and use....Steve and Mary Ann purchased the home in September of 2004 and in the summer of 2005 opened Driftwood as a weekly/monthly rental property...they learned just after their purchase that Mary Ann's great aunt had once owned the home..so there were connections on both sides. With Steve growing up at the Eastern Point Lighthouse and Mary Ann in the Rocky Neck area they knew that this house was the perfect setting for vacationers looking for a New England style vacation. With all that Gloucester has to offer this home was perfectly nestled for just that....
Driftwood has all that one would need for an enjoyable and relaxing vacation...STEPS TO THE BEACH..WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TO RESTAURANTS WITH OUTDOOR DINING ON SMITH'S COVE, UNIQUE SHOPS, ICE CREAM,LIVE THEATRE, NORTH SHORE ART ASSOCIATION, MUSEUM, EASTERN POINT LIGHTHOUSE, KAYAKING AND SO SO MUCH MORE...unpack your suitcase, fill the fridge and you are ready to enjoy Cape Ann.....
This is a lovely and homey place to stay, centrally located, with all the amenities you could ask for. Just beautiful!
Our family visited Gloucester for the first time and stayed in this lovely cottage. It was a great location, just up the road from the beautiful beach. Our boys (11 & 12 yrs old) loved digging for hermit crabs (using the buckets and shovels provided at the cottage) and wading in the cool water- they could just walk there from the house. Mary Ann was just lovely and so personable and helpful with directions, what to do, check-in, and any questions! She had great recommendations for whale watching (Cape Ann), shopping and scenic drives and walks. The loft was perfect for the boys. They had their own tv and space to relax. The stairs up to the loft would be challenging for young children or older folks. The kitchen was well stocked, clean and spacious and having the washer/dryer was a plus! The main floor bedroom had plenty of closet and drawer space, extra blankets, and privacy. The cottage is attached to the larger house, which was vacant during our stay. It may have been a little "too close" if we had to share parking and outside space w/ people we didn't know. It would be perfect for 2 families or groups traveling together to rent both cottage and house, since they are attached. Wi-Fi was not always working or a strong signal, but they quickly came out to correct it. Would definitely recommend this rental and working with MaryAnn and Steve. Very friendly and helpful and proud of their lovely town of Gloucester.
This is a lovely home in a lovely location. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchens, everything one could want. Cottage was perfect for my granddaughter and her family. Everyone could be together, but also apart when needed. Beach was perfect for the little kids...no big waves, sandy and just steps away. Very nice neighborhood.
Fantastic home, location and amenities! We had a young family in the attached unit, and six in the main home itself. We walked to the beach every day, and ate out on the large deck for almost every meal. Plenty of room inside for a family of ten to visit and play games. Mary Ann, the owner, was extremely helpful thru-out the entire process. Hopefully, we can return for another family reunion soon.
Within walking distance to live theatre, historical art colony, variety of restaurants, eat inside or out, shops, scenic mansion walks/tours, lighthouse tours, deep sea fishing, sport fishing, harbor tours, whale watching, lobster bakes, and much more...to view our lovely city visit out webpage.
