About Lisa Martin

My name is Lisa Martin & my husband is Merv.

My husband works for his brother in a tire shop & I am a secretary at a private school nearby.

We both love old log cabins & peaceful settings.

It had been a dream of ours to restore a old log cabin.

We built this cabin to rent out & share with others.

The cabin was orginally from Manhiem. We numbered the logs tore it down & moved them to this property. My husband & son built the cabin & set it back up. Every minute of spare time they had they worked on it. It took around 1 year to complete. We would love you to come & stay!

Why Lisa Martin chose Pennsylvania

This is an awesome place to enjoy the woods and nature. It is peaceful & secluded. It is the perfect place for a restored old log cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy the solitude & wildlife while staying at the cabin. It is a great place to unwind! Enjoy sitting on the rocking chairs on the front porch overlooking the pond. Listen to the birds, watch for the deer, in the spring listen to the peepers.

Guestbook comments from the owner

THANK YOU!!!

We were so lucky to uncover this treasure in the woods - a perfect spot full of charm & peace. Getting away to just enjoy some solitude together was made all the more memorable because of this idyllic setting. We had fun exploring the local antique shops & enjoying just exploring the countryside - roaming free, happening upon a covered bridge or a small country store, sitting on the deck in the rockers as dusk turned to night - or in the morning as we enjoyed our coffee - we loved to be so one with nature - birds chirping, frogs croaking, lightening bugs flickering. I'm sure we will come back - would love to see it in winter & take in all the natural beauty, rest & relaxation this place has to offer.

We loved staying at this old log cabin at the pond of the Martins! Was so relaxing and a beautiful fall weekend! We also loved the kitties that joined us on our laps on the front porch! We will go back again.Burkharts

Amazing

The cabin was beautiful. Perfect mix of vintage cabin feel with newer amenities. The cat family outside was very friendly and welcoming. The area was beautiful. Perfect for a mini getaway. Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed our stay. :)

Beautiful, rustic and peaceful!

Words can't express what a wonderful vacation this was away from the daily rub and grind of life. Great place to decompress and relax. Only thing I would change would be a little more privacy with the bathroom door. Loved the kitty's!

Peaceful restful time (stayed 4 nights)

  • 5 of 5

This was my first stay at “The Cabin in the Woods” but not my last. Like so many others have stated, I too have thoroughly enjoyed my peaceful restful time in the cabin. Staying in the cabin was like stepping back in time but with modern conveniences. I spent my days rocking on the porch, relaxing, reading and looking out on the pond and taking in some fresh air. Inside the cabin has a rustic feel but with modern amenities like satellite TV, microwave, jacuzzi, central air and a super comfortable bed that gave me some of the most restful night sleep I've had in years.

An unexpected treat is the two friendly cat ambassador’s that live on the property. Petting them as they slept peacefully on my lap made my stay that much more enjoyable.

I promise to come back as often as I can but until then I will remember my stay with fondness. I highly recommend a stay in the cabin.

Food Hint: If you like good barbeque try "Stampede Smokin Barbecue" that is just a few miles away. It's not fine dining, it is just a roadside stand but the food is delicious!

It was a peaceful, beautiful place

  • 4 of 5

The log cabin is a work of art. It has been restored so beautifully. The land around it is peaceful and lovely. It feels isolated even though there's a house next door. We took short trips through the Amish countryside, the farms were beautiful. But we mostly appreciated the front porch of the log cabin and looking out at the pond.

We'll definitely return!
