Step off the spacious oceanfront lanai, grab your surfboard, fishing pole, paddle board, fins and mask, boogie board or camera and walk our short hidden path to enter the ocean at Keolonahihi Cove! Or.... just sit back and be captivated by spinner dolphin, surfers, Humpback Whale action, canoe paddlers, para-sailors, swimmers, divers, inspiring tropical sunsets, romantic moonlight dancing on the water, exotic birds, and more.......
Our 2/2 vintage Hawaiian-style beach house overlooks Holualoa Bay and two of Kona’s premiere surfing breaks. Kamoa Point (Lyman's), a favorite surfing place of the Alii since the 1300's when the famous Chiefess Keolonahihi first rode her surfboard on the crests of the renowned 'left' surf break then known as, ' Kakala O Kamoa'. The cove named in her honor is accessed directly in front of our house in the same place where surfers have entered the ocean for hundreds of years. The Great King Kamehameha I learned to surf here while spectators viewed the surfing from a shoreline grandstand constructed of lava rocks along the north side of Kamoa Point in front of our house. You can enjoy this same awesome view and shoreline access the ancient Hawaiians enjoyed. If you like surfing, this is the best Kona has to offer. From the lanai, you can see the side view, or 'barrel' of the waves breaking at Banyans. Banyans, a great right break that is a short paddle across the bay, is another famous surfing spot. When the surf is big it can break clear across Holualoa Bay presenting a long wave that nearly connects Lymans and Banyans! This is an awesome spectacle to behold!
We enjoy incredible close interaction with the ocean from every room of our home and the newly expanded lanai. The panoramic view sweeps from Kamoa Point North to the Old Airport and beyond. Cruise ships are seen at the pier when in port. The ever changing ocean activity viewed from the lanai is an endless form of entertainment all hours of the day and night.

We dine on the covered lanai, which has a teak dining table and six chairs, as well as a second glass/bamboo dining table. There is a King Size platform bed with a net canopy on the covered lanai. The barbecue is always ready for your fresh catch!

I meant to write in your guest book before we left but we ran out of time Thursday morning. Our week in Kona was paradise! We could not have chosen a better place to stay. Sitting on the lanai, drinking a cup of coffee and watching the surfers was the perfect way to start the day. Our two boys slept on the big bed each night (except for the last night when we had a huge storm). We hated to be away at night and miss the sunset from your place. The T.V. and WIFI were nice to have but our kids were happy to be unplugged. It was a family time that we will never forget.
Thank you for sending the list of restaurants. It was great to refer to them when we were out and about. We had a fantastic dinner at Jackie Rays. They were so family friendly and the food was incredible. We did the morning Fair Winds trip which was fun and great snorkeling, especially for beginners like us. We spent a few days at Hapuna Beach which was perfect for boogie boarding. The most incredible thing we did was the night manta ray snorkel. We ended up booking with Sea Hawaii Rafting. I left a card with the contact number. Chris and Super Dave could not have provided us with a better experience. Their knowledge and respect for the mantas was unparalleled. We were the only people on the boat and we were so well cared for. They made us feel so safe and taught us so much. We had a 14 foot manta(named Chloe) swim inches from us for our own personal show. It was an unbelievable experience.
Thank you for the use of your home. We hope to be back soon.

This comfortable, low-key beach house was perfect for our two-couple vacation. The house is close to a popular surfing beach just outside of Kona, but it is sited so that it is quite private and quiet. Cathleen is very gracious and helpful when questions arise. The large kitchen is well-stocked, there are boogie boards, beach chairs and a cooler available for guest use. I would definitely return!
This was the perfect home to celebrate my son's 10th birthday. I lived in Kona in '93-'95 and fell in love with it instantly, so I was happy to be able to stay near town. It felt like "home". The owner met us on the first day; showed us around and was just all around sweet. It was everything and more. We spent a lot of time out on the lanai which was perfect for watching the surfers and sunsets. I hope to return very soon. Thank you!! Stacy K.
This house was perfect for us...had everything we needed! The lanai was a real plus, to be outside and watch the ocean and just hear the waves crashing.
The house was well stocked with everything one needed for cooking. Beds were comfortable. Lots of fans...much needed and enjoyed.
We will stay here again in the future for sure!
Thanks! Joan & Ali
The Beach House@Lyman's met all of our expectations. Great location just south of the main water-front shops and restaurants of Kona (driving -- not too walkable). Especially convenient for kayaking/snorkeling excursions south to Kealakekua and Honaunau Bays (highly recommend both). By far our favorite thing was sleeping in the very comfortable king-sized bed on the lanai. Pure heaven listening to the surf all night, waking to the birds in the morning. (It's just private enough not to be a problem.) The house is not shiny new, but an older beach home with no A/C and no glass in some windows, but it's all about the view. There were plenty of fans (which we definitely needed), and we spent about 95% of our time there outside on the huge lanai. There are two tables for dining, a daybed and even a bathroom on the lanai. The surfers are out from sunup to sundown and great fun to watch. Sunsets are lovely too.The water was a little rough and the access a little rocky for these old people to get in here, but plenty of other folks did. The kitchen is well enough equipped to cook simple meals. Everything was clean and tidy. We loved the poke at Da Poke Shack and breakfast at Lava Java. Umekes had outstanding poke as well. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Wonderful stay right by the water in Kona! Plenty of space and comfort. Convenient to whatever you need in Kona.
Our family of 4, including 2 teenagers, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view from the lanai was just like the on-line pictures showed and the king bed on the lanai was very comfortable. We ate breakfast on the lanai every morning, watching the surfers and seeing whales a few times, and often came back "home" for lunch because our view was better than the restaurant view! The house was perfect for us, but some people may find it a bit "cabin-y" with no windows (only screens) in some rooms and an outdated kitchen. We found it quaint and thought it added to a true casual Hawaiian feel. The house was well-equipped with snorkel gear, boogie boards and various sizes of swim shoes. The host was so welcoming and was very helpful when we had questions about where-to go/what-to-do. There is road noise since the house is on a main street, but it was well worth it for the view and that beautiful lanai. Restaurants, grocery, and sand beaches are a short 10 minute car ride, so you are centrally located for activities and dining.
The house is on the ocean (Makai) side of Alii Drive south of Royal Poinciana Drive. Living Stones Church, Banyan Mart, Da Poke Shack, shoreline fishing spots, snorkeling/swimming/surfing beaches, water equipment rentals/instruction, are within 5 minutes of the house. Surfing, SUP, snorkeling, and diving in front of the house and nearby.
