About Harper Peterson

We have been enjoying Bald Head Island since its inception and we have enjoyed watching it grow. Our family has grown up spending summers and holidays enjoying the majestic scenery and all the Bald Head has to offer. We chose to purchase and build in the Maritime Forrest for its privacy and calming affect. We've accumulated ideas and artifacts throughout our travels that have inspired our design for the home and we hope you will enjoy as much as we have.

Why Harper Peterson chose Coastal North Carolina

The Maritime Forrest is quietly nestled near the center of the island and offers beautiful privacy while being in close proximity to the beaches and all that Bald Head has to offer. This home and property certainly is a "must see"!

This one-of-a-kind custom home is second to none in luxury, attention to detail, an amenities!

The previously posted reviews of Morning Light perfectly describe this incredible home. The website photos and video convinced us this was the perfect place to book our end-of-summer family vacation. Our experience in this unbelievable home was outstanding. We look forward to our next stay here already! To wake up every morning in this home in the forest was a treat in itself. Everyday we discovered something new and unique to love about this home. The screened living areas and screened sleeping room offer boundless visual and physical beauty. This peaceful, spa-like home is sited amidst ages-old trees; a small clearing provides an intimate spot for watching baby fawns graze grass. The convenient outdoor shower compares to an outdoor spa with rain head shower faucet and a dressing area conveniently located. You are clean and refreshed from the salt and sand before stepping indoors to a wide open kitchen equipped with everything you need to entertain. The office/TV room stores a huge choice of games for all ages. The large beautifully crafted dining table is the perfect place to enjoy games and to enjoy a freshly cooked meal with friends and family. Planted potted herbs are freshly abundant. The large luxurious leather sofa seats a large group and makes the perfect place for charades, or just relaxing after a busy day. The reading nook is sunny and welcoming - encouraging one to pick up a book from an eclectic selection of reads. Peaceful, soulful, restful and invigorating - this home makes one feel alive and in touch with nature and with one another. Morning, noon and evening offers different points of view with sunlight filtering through the trees, into the strategically placed windows/sunroof spotlighting the rich woods and quality hardwares used throughout. The staircase is a work of art. The bedrooms had extremely comfortable beds and linens and tasteful, understated elegant and unique accompaniments. No shortage of blankets and throws either!

The owner personally picked up the first of our party (who arrived by boat), helped to unload, and introduced us to Morning Light. We learned on our trip that he is a very active business owner on BHI. He is a friend to all and works as hard as any employee to ensure guests at Morning Light and to the island itself enjoy a quality vacation. Morning Light is truly a treasure! 10 out of 10!

Our Happy Place

  • 5 of 5

For the second year in a row this magical property provided our family and friends with a wonderful close to the summer season. Morning Light and its tranquil surroundings invite you to slow down and enjoy what's important -- whether it's reading in a quite nook flooded with natural light or playing board games with family under giant live oaks. The house itself is a work of art; with too many exotic details to list, yet, still invokes an inviting spa-like approach throughout the entire house. While secluded it's remarkably close to area amenities and a short ride to the beach via bike or golf cart. The owners are terrific as well. Yes - this is our happy place :)

Not enough words to express the beauty and peacefulness of this home. The windows, woodwork and attention to detail in Morning Light were truly beyond our expectations. We cannot wait to come back to Bald Head and stay in the house again!!

Great Place

Impressive property. We had a great time. Bald Head is always first class and so was Morning Light. Loved waking up in the coastal "jungle" and then taking a short walk, run, or cart ride to the beach. Almost like two vacations in one!

We loved this home! Great location, quite secluded area and close to the market and beach. One of the nicest homes we've stayed at on the island! Would definitely recommend to others and would stay again!

A relaxing enchanting stay amongst the trees

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully decorated asian spa inspired beach house is nestled in a secluded area of the Maritime Forest and very central in location: Close to beaches, the marina and very close to shopping (which is a "great" convenience). This house is very large, sprawling and would accommodate up to 10 comfortably; there are also several cozy spots to get away and enjoy a book.

This home has a very large, well stocked gourmet kitchen, with a high end feel.

Great open floor plan with plenty of seating for a large group (13 foot dining tables both inside and out). The tranquil bedrooms are spacious as well as generously spaced, allowing for privacy. Gorgeous well appointed spa like bathrooms with top end spa quality toiletries. Large/tall floor to ceiling windows across the back of the home overlooking private secluded woods, with natural wood used throughout the inside of the home gives you the feeling of never being inside…it's wonderful!

This home has been lovingly built with attention to every detail, it is well maintained with no evidence of wear and tear. The owners have thought out every detail for the needs of their guests. They are there on the island and available if needed, a plus (although we had no issues).

My husband and I "highly" recommend this property, whether you are looking to escape for a romantic week/weekend for two or for a large family get together-this home has it all and should be at the very top of your list!

Bald head island is a very special place for us. We have had several great stays (both ocean front and forest) over the years and I have to say this home is at the very top of our list. We look forward to returning this summer for sailing, kayaking, bicycling, golfing, hanging at the beach and most importantly "just relaxing" in seclusion.
