Guestbook comments from the owner

A trip to Remember!!!

Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in June 2005

I went to St. Thomas with 3 friends and our daughters who had just graduated from High School...It was a graduation gift.

Everything about the trip was awesome. Rick was there waiting at the airport to guide us to the villa...we arrived at night and it was quite the experience getting to the villa..I began to wonder where in the world we were going as we made our way down the rough terrain of the mountain,,couldn't believe our eyes when we entered the private gate and saw the villa.

Everything about the place was breathtaking...the furnishings..the decorating...the lighting that gave it almost a magical feel.

We were so excited to get the in the beautiful pool and stayed up late just soaking it all in.

What a joy when we got up the next morning to the most spectacular view I had ever seen.

St. Thomas is a fun beautiful island and we did lots of exploring the sites...but nothing compares to the time we spent enjoying Villa amour...Our hosts were so gracious and fun...we even shared a couple of meals...And they brought us flowers!!!

Villa Amour ~ Idyllic in Every Way!

  • 5 of 5

After hurricanes Irma and Maria in Sept 2017, we were thrilled to learn Villa Amour survived with only minimal damage to landscaping. We were more than happy to keep our March 3-10, 2018 reservation to fulfill my desire to share our honeymoon destination of St. Thomas with our family in celebration of our 40th anniversary. The island is rebuilding and it felt good to be supporting the local economy with our vacation dollars. We find the island residents to be warm and welcoming. The owners are perfect examples of this through their non-intrusive hospitality at Villa Amour.

The location, grounds, views, floor plan and amenities of Villa Amour are all outstanding. Our multigenerational family of 10, aged 1-84, had more than enough room to enjoy private moments as well as time together. Rick supplied a pack ‘n play and high chair for our granddaughter and security gates to the pool area. We were able to easily remove them when the little ones were asleep or able to be well supervised. They provided peace of mind when we were all busy getting ready in the morning and the 1 and 3 year olds were full of energy.

The pictures and video online adequately portray the beauty of the Villa and surrounding area. What you don’t get are the sounds of nature and fragrances of the tropical location. These are equally devine. I already miss falling asleep to gentle breezes and the competing sounds of ocean waves and coqui frogs.

Highlights of our stay at Villa Amour included family meals and game nights around the large dining table, hours in the infinity pool enjoying the views, and walks around the property in search of lizards, iguanas, and tropical flowers. We ate most meals at home and enjoyed pizza from Thirteen one night and another delicious celebration dinner at The Green House. Lunches were enjoyed at Fat Turtle and Fresh Bistro overlooking the yachts in Long Bay. A day trip to St. John provided an opportunity for us to enjoy being on the water, experiencing a private island tour and hike, shopping in Cruz Bay and lunch at The Ocean Grill. While many of the beaches were closed, snorkeling discouraged, and a boat charter off the table due to high surf from recent Atlantic storms, we did enjoy two days spent at Emerald Beach and Magens Bay Park.

The Caribbean islands are magical and Villa Amour on St. Thomas is a crown jewel! Thank you Rick and Stephen for sharing your idyllic home in paradise so that we could create lifetime memories with our family!

Amazingly spectacular

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Sunday the 13th and reluctantly left on Sunday the 20th of August.

The experience was nothing short of magical from the time we walked in to the bittersweet time we left.

Now keep in mind that you'll need a 4wd to get to the place. . It's carved into a mountain above Netljeburg bay That's a miniscule trade off for what you will experience. The place itself is spectacular with truly magnificent pieces of art. The accommodations are outstanding. Four ensuite bedrooms, a half bath on the main level and a fully equipped kitchen.

The view is phenomenal from the front of the house and from the gorgeous salt pool and hot tub.

We came with two other couples and we had more than enough privacy.

The owners, Rick and Stephen were extremely accommodating and helpful. Rick even made us a key lime pie for our wedding which took place on Thursday of the week.

The experience we had at Villa Amour is a memory that we will cherish forever. Can't wait to come back for our anniversary.

A Treasure in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Villa Amour is truly an amazing experience! it is more than a place to stay it is a treasure! The inside is so unique and gallery style yet comfortable and feels like home. The landscaping is wonderful and has been cared for with such passion. There are fruit trees, flowers galore and so many wonderful plants. If you are lucky enough to meet Stephen you will see his passion as he shared so many interesting facts with us and allowed us to try some of the amazing fruit from his great labors. Both Rick and Stephen gave us some great recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to try. They are very accommodating and really make you feel welcome and like you are home. The location is very private and quiet. We saw a wide variety of animals from a cow just up the road to feral chickens and roosters to a frog that hung out in one of the planters each night with us to even seeing a couple of white tail deer on the road!

Mountain Top, Paradise Point (drive up if you can), Coral World and Coki Beach, Neltjeberg Beach, and Water Island (saw three Sea turtles while snorkeling there) were all excellent! Horseback riding, however, was not as good as the horseback riding we have done at Turks & Caicos and Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic. (The horseback riding was not a recommendation from Rick or Stephen).

Some of the restaurants we went to were The Tap & Still, Smoking Rooster, Fish Tails, Molley Malones, Mafolie (the view was so good we just went for a cocktail and the view), Greenhouse, and Greengos. All the food was very good as well as the service.

Thank you Rick and Stephen for sharing your beautiful labor of love - Villa Amour!!!!!

Fantastic Family vacation with our adult children

  • 5 of 5

We had the wonderful opportunity to spend a week in this gem of a home with our three boys and their significant others. We walked into the home and were all in awe of the beauty of the home and the gorgeous view of the ocean. Rick and Steve were spectacular hosts offering great suggestions for things to do and places to eat. We could not have asked for a more beautiful home or spectacular place. Thank you!!!

Oh and one of my boys favorite things was the ride to and from the house and the nearly private beach. Sooo much fun!!!

We were four ladies in need of extreme relaxing after a very stressful work project. We just wanted somewhere with sunshine, great views, an amazing pool, and a great kitchen. Villa Amour more than delivered. The views, the views, the views! We loved the quiet setting, and the gardens are gorgeous and well maintained. We couldn't have asked for more. Rick was great to deal with in booking his lovely home, and Chloe was super helpful and efficient when we arrived. Thank goodness Rick warned me about needing an SUV. The only thing I'd wish I'd done differently was rent a 4-wheel drive. The 2WD SUV was okay, but 4WD would have been best for the property and the entire island. We loved the hot tub, the pool, the blender (which we put to good use), the cook's kitchen, the snorkel gear. We continued down the road past our house to a very secluded beach (which we had virtually to ourselves) and snorkeled to our heart's content. We also took a sunset dinner cruise on a sailboat that was great. There's a lot to see and do, but Villa Amour is so chill and so beautiful, you may just want to stay in. Do it!
