About Sandra and Michael Fisher

A big hello to our guests from Michael and Sandra. Here is a little info about the proud owners of Paradise on Daniels Pond, aka Terrapin Station. We both were born and raised in the beautiful country suburbs of Phila, Pa, Michael in Chester Springs and Sandra in Yardley, and we are both grads of Penn State. Go State! Although we did not know each other until 2003, when the wonderful internet then brought us together, Match.Com, yes it does work! While building Terrapin Station, we would stay at the enchanted Inn on the Common in the picturesque town of Craftsburry Common, VT. Here we became engaged and then off to the chapel on the Common to marry in 2006. We now reside in our Pa dream home, a restored farmhouse circa 1812, in the quaint town of Birchrunville, with our 2 goats Templeton and Archie, our 3 cats Curious, A.J. and Chi, and of course the kids-young adults, Alexander, Connor and Taylor. And yes Michael is a long time fan of the Grateful Dead and Sandra, the Rolling Stones.

Why Sandra and Michael Fisher chose Northeast Kingdom

Ahh, Vermont. The beauty of all that nature has to offer at its best! We both were fortunate to experience the wonders of Vermont in our earlier years. Michael's first entre to the Kingdom was in 1978, with one of several visits to the renown Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover. Wanting more of this beautiful state, Michael moved to Waitsfield from 1982 - 1985, working at Sugarbush, loving every moment. Sandra's first of many visits was in 1980 with her childhood friend who grew up spending summer and winter vacations at their lake house near Rutland. Skiing Killington, Okemo, Magic, bushwacking, water skiing, skating, hiking and loving it!. On to the year 2005 when we were ready to find our second dream home. We had Vermont in our hearts and knew that our desire to have serenity, beauty, privacy, the wonders of nature, and year round outdoor activities were all in this beautiful state. So we went for it and began the search and found our piece of paradise on the internet, and in Glover, where it all began! Yes, the internet has been good to us. At the time the property was a rough clearing with a foundation on 55 wooded acres, with an unbelieveable view of the water and mountains, and 1800 feet of shoreline, just absolutely beautiful. Feb of 2006 our dream home was ready. The first knock on our door were our pond neighbors Linda and Arthur, who welcomed us and offered their hospitality and to stop by anytime. This is what the people of the Kingdom are all about. In 2010 we were ready to offer our home to others to be able to enjoy this magical place. The Kingdom is One of the Most Beautiful Places in America. We are very thankful!

Guestbook comments from the owner

To put it in the words of my sister, "This is heaven on earth". We booked the house so that we could have some down time with my sister who was visiting from overseas. To begin with the entire booking process was simple and easy. spoke with Sandra on the phone & worked everything out. We received an information package from her that was invaluable with excellent suggestions. The home was very comfortable for the 8 of us. The views were priceless. Waking up in the morning with the sun caressing you through the big windows & having a cup of coffee on the veranda watching the mist over the water was wonderful. All of us from the young to the old had something to do. Our son & I fished the entire time. he even went out to fish in the rain! The Fishers generously provided many games to keep us entertained when it rained outside. We took the suggestions & tried a lot of the local restaurants. Parsons soon became our favoite. Chef Dave even gave me a recipe for making perch which came out excellent! The house was immaculate and decorated to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Again in the words of my sister "What a memorable house & vacation!" Thank you for allowing us the use of your beautiful home and we look forward to being back soon.

One of Our Best Vacations!

  • 5 of 5

My family plus another (4 adults and 4 kids total) just spent a wonderful week at Terrapin Station. It was unanimous - we all loved the house and NE Vermont. The house was clean and furnished very nicely and very comfortable. it was "move in" ready when we arrived. All beds are made. Lots of towles provided. Little amenities like laundry and kitchen detergent, paper products, fire wood and games, etc. are all provided too.

The property itself is beautiful and well maintained. We canoed many times each day and fell in love with the pond life - a beaver, a pair of loons, geese family and even a big brown hare jumped through the yard a few times. We explored all the little towns - shopped at Willy's in Greensboro for food and cheeses. We checked out Hill Farmstead Brewery (of course brought goodies home from there). The bike riding was great - day tripped it to Kingdom Trails in E. Burk. For all serious Mt. bikers, this is a MUST! Also hiked the Willoughby Lake Gorge and White Mts. in New Hampshire (about an hour drive).

The owners were gracious and attentive. Thanks to them for sharing this lovely home. I would defintely recommend this house to other families and plan to return sometime hopefully soon.

Owner's Response: We know we say this frequently, but we are so thankful for you to have experienced the magic of Terrapin Station and the "Kingdom"! As you said "it was unanimous, we all loved the house and NE Vermont". That is what it is all about and what we strive for, to make Terrapin Station your home and for there to be all that you need to enjoy, for the very special young ones to the wonderful grand parents. How awesome that you also experienced so much of the Kingdom's beauty and attractions. This is why the NEK is so deserving of being on the list in "1000 Places To See Before You Die"! Thank you so much for sharing ""One of Our Best Vacations", with us and for the gracious compliments. Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to having you back! Warmly, Sandra and Michael

The Perfect Northeast Vermont Vacation Property

  • 5 of 5

Terrapin Station is located at the end of a quiet dirt road and is situated on 55 acres of waterfront property on Daniels Pond, so you get the feeling of seclusion except for one or two houses visible across the pond. The yard is sizable and slopes downhill towards the water where there is a dock and canoe launch. Not too far from the dock is a small fire pit, which came stocked with a good amount of firewood. There is plenty more available all over the property if needed, you just have to take a quick walk into the woods.

The house itself is clean, well-maintained, well decorated, and very roomy. On the first floor there is a large dining room with table and chairs, a living room with two couches, a bedroom, a half bathroom, and a kitchen equipped with anything you need except food (pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cups, coffee maker, spices and seasonings, cookware, trash bags, paper towels, etc.). On the second floor there are three bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a sitting area with a couple of couches. The basement is walk-out and has a full bathroom. There is also a two-stall garage and a huge porch that wraps around the front and side of the house with perfect views of the pond.

The owners of this property keep the house stocked with just about anything you could need, including all of the kitchen-related items I mentioned above plus stuff like a grill and propane, a canoe for exploring the pond, lawn games, and the basics like sheets, towels, etc. They really go above and beyond to make sure you have an excellent stay and provide a guest information packet with descriptions of all of the items in the house (what is available, where it is located, etc.), ideas on things to do during your stay, names and addresses of local businesses and restaurants, and more. Sandra, one of the owners, personally called me a few times prior to our stay and when we arrived to make sure we were all set, answer any questions, and recommend different places to try and things to do while we were there. Very nice person.

Overall, I found this property to be exactly as described in the listing and in its reviews. The owners provided excellent customer service and take very good care of the property. It is a beautiful house in a perfect Vermont setting equipped with just about everything you could need during your stay. It is extremely easy to just show up and have a great time! If you are contemplating a stay here, do it! You will not be disappointed.

Memories, Relaxation and Adventure

  • 5 of 5

Sandra and Michael Fisher went above and beyond to make our stay one of the most memorable experiences for our family. The house is warm, inviting, clean, and comfortable. Everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible has been provided. The property is meticulosly maintained and cared for. Location is great, as it is about an hour from most destinations so everything is fairly easy to get to. The house is only minutes away from the Famous Parker Pie, Curriers general store, and Hill Farmstead Brewery. The house is at the end of the street so the only traffic out your way is you. When you take a walk down the lane the neighbors are friendly and the walk is very relaxing. The Morning canoe rides were a highlight of the week, as we were able to spot a couple of Loons and a bald eagle. When you visit don't forget to bring your binoculars!! (if you do the house has a couple pair to borrow)

This is a great place to bring family and friends, the Fishers really go out of their way to make this a great and memorable experience. The North East Kingdom is a beautiful place with spectacular views and wildlife. Tarrapin Station makes instant memories that will last a life time.

Wonderful winter getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My snow-deprived kids were begging for a snow vacation this year, so we decided to go to Terrapin Station for a week in mid-February along with my brother's family. The home and property are as beautiful as the pictures depict. It was peaceful, serene and cozy -- a perfect place for our two families to spend time together. We enjoyed sledding down the hill, walking across the frozen lake and exploring in the woods. Inside we enjoyed music, board games, great meals and lounging in front of the beautiful fireplace. The first weekend, we experienced an unusual "polar vortex" that is only seen once every ten years or so. Even the locals said it was extreme cold. Glover along with several other surrounding towns lost power due to this unusually cold weather. Sandra and Michael had great instructions for what to do during an power outage. We were able to reach them in the middle of the night and they were very helpful in supporting us during the power outage. We kept the fire going in the fireplace and were warm enough even though it was frigid outside. We enjoyed Terrapin Station immensely and were very grateful for all the local recommendations that Sandra and Michael provided in their information packet. We especially enjoyed Positive Pie in Hardwick and the day we spent at the indoor waterpark at Jay Peak. I would definitely recommend Terrapin Station as a winter getaway. I imagine it's a beautiful place all year round though.
