Watch the sunrise in this single-family, open water view home located directly on the Atlantic Ocean with its own private beach! This Non-Smoking home has a beautiful private sandy beach with coral rock stairs to the ocean. You can enjoy the incredible view whether your upstairs looking through the 36 feet of sliding glass doors, downstairs under the the large overhang playing games, or directly on the beach enjoying a tan. Privacy is what it is all about!
The Beach Retreat is a casual home with two stories. The upstairs has a large open seating area and has a king and queen bedroom with private bath. Double beds are located in the downstairs room. In addition to the bed and bath, the downstairs has a large covered area with plenty of seating and a hot tub directly on the beach. The house has spacious bedrooms and plenty of storage space. This gated property is over half acre. The property is extremely secluded and private.
We have been part of the Florida Key since my birth. I have spent many holidays in the Keys. My Grandparents purchased the home in 1990. Since then, my husband and I have purchased the home and have done updates. We still visit the Keys frequently from South Florida.
Deanna Rasco purchased this house in 1991
This home is a very private home with incredible views. On any given day you can see a variety of incredible birds including bald eagle, osprey, pelicans and if you watch closely you may see dolphin swimming in the water. There is no place closer to paradise. Unlike most other homes on the ocean that are set back, this house sits the closest to the edge allowing unobstructed views and extreme privacy.
This was the first time that I have rented a vacation home for our family vacation- it was the best decision I could have made! I have a family of six and to compare the options of purchasing two rooms at a Hotel vs a vacation home- choosing the later was a no-brainer. In the end, the convenience and cost saving of this beach rental was the right choice and will be my only choice in the future for our vacations.
The home was beautiful! The panoramic view of the ocean/beach right from the living room sofa was amazing and unforgettable! It is decorated perfectly for the beach goers and very clean! The house is a good size to accommodate several people. All the kitchen amenities were perfect for preparing meals instead of eating out which is a HUGE money saver! The same goes for ALL the other amenities offered on the property for cost saving as well (too many to mention)! I do have to mention too that when it's unbearably hot outside and you need to cool off- just step indoors and relax because the AC works great and you still have the view as if you are still outside!
Everyday we were able to snorkel off the private beach and saw some AMAZING sea life! This is great for keeping the kids busy without spending a dime!
The home is centrally located in the Keys and is very convenient to be able to drive a short distance either direction for shopping or dining out.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at the Ocean Beach Retreat and would recommend it to anyone considering this option for their vacation.
It was so hard to leave this vacation home when our time was over in more ways than one! It is truly a home away from home!
We were here in Feb. loved the house and the view! The owner Deanna is very friendly and helpful. She provided us with lots of information for fishing, restaurants and places to go. Excellent location and very private. There is a fish market right down the street. We loved just watching the wildlife and ocean right from the hot tub! Really enjoyed our vacation here! Will be back!
My wife and I spent two weeks here in January. When we arrived the place was clean and everything was in place. I don't really know where the time went, it just melted away. Lots of sun time in back and lots of time observing all of the wild life in the area.
We had two minor issues, both of which turned out to be user error, and Deanna was extremely responsive and solved the issues with a quick phone call. We have rented many houses in the Keys and Deanna is far and away the most responsive, friendly, and helpful person we have dealt with. Don't know what else to say except we will be back next year.
We stayed for almost a week in November at this home . We had 6 adults and the home was perfect in size and amenities. Owner provided great information prior to arrival and we took advantage of renting Kayaks from a local shop (Robbie's) down the street. They deliver and pick up. Most of our time was spent watching the ocean, enjoying the beach and kayaking. I would highly recommend for adults. The only drawback I think is there is not a traditional sandy beach but we were able to walk the beach (with beach shoes) when the tide was out. Loved the house and the view- we plan to return!
We stayed in this home for a week in September and had an excellent experience . We had 5 adults one 9 yr old and 2 toddlers and the accommodations worked well . When the toddlers were sleeping the adults could sit on the balcony overlooking the ocean and visit or grill (we purchased one from Dollar General). Usually our days consisted of one outing for several hours. Due to the central location we went to the Theatre of the Seas, snorkeling, feeding tarpons at Robbie's , and some of us drove to Key West one day. Nice sandy back yard/beach. We rented 2 kayaks from Robbie's for the week and they delivered and picked up. The ocean was good for our group as we favored safety (since we had a 9 yr old who loved to explore) and view. Snorkeling was very limited until you waded out about 50 ft where it was waist deep and clear but the kayaks allowed good access. The home was very comfortable and well furnished and clean.
We recently returned from a blissful weeklong stay at this Islamorada home. It's a fabulous place for families with young children! My two toddlers loved the manmade beach (which felt totally contained, clean, and safe) and all the beach toys available; the hot tub; having fires in the fire pit at night; and, yes, it must be said, watching their nightly cartoon on the huge flat-screen TV. My husband and I loved the location and the fact that we could spread out and roam around and look at water all day long. And my mom, who came with us, loved having her own room downstairs to retreat to for some peace and quiet. We all loved the coconuts -- tons of coconut water and fresh coconuts the entire trip!
Islamorada is an amazing destination and we can't wait to go back. Even the tourist stuff (feeding the tarpons at Robbie's, etc.) is undeniably fun. We loved our experience at the Dolphin Research Center, swimming behind the Islamorada Library, and kicking back at dusk each night at Morada Bay Cafe, but honestly much of the time we just enjoyed the house and all there was to do. We bought Key West pink shrimp at the local fish market down the road and cooked at home most of the time. We also rented a double kayak at Robbie's and had some really great sunset paddles.
As I mentioned to the owner, the only issues we had were the slow Internet (but that wasn't really a problem) and the fact that basic supplies at the house (toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, etc.) are limited. Stop at the Winn-Dixie in Tavernier on your way down and save yourself a shopping trip.
All in all, a fantastic vacation. Thank you!
