Guestbook comments from the owner

We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the cabin over Christmas. It truely is a Story book cabin. We loved all the wood and country french decorating. It is in a perfect location, close to the slopes and restaurants. The kids had a great time in the snow outside and we really enjoyed the fireplace. We prepared 2 meals a day in the kitchen that had everything we needed. We are hoping to return within the next month. I will contact you for our next stay as soon as I know the dates.

Rest & Relax At This Great Getaway

  • 4 of 5

What a great place for our 4th of July getaway !

Our family of six, (plus a little dog) totally enjoyed the Wonderland cabin. The bedrooms were very spacious and the beds were really comfy, so getting a good night's sleep was as easy as counting to 10...but only making it to 7 ?

We appreciated having a well stocked kitchen full of all kinds of supplies. All we had to do was bring our food and drink , then sit down at the picnic table while we barbecued our chicken, sausage, or

steaks on the charcoal grill. Stressful? Not in the least !

Only 3 minutes away from the cabin was the bay where we rented bikes and kayaks, and only 10 minutes away were the mountain trails that led up into some beautiful high country.

Just one word of caution...the stairs going to the 2nd floor are a bit steep, so make sure to hold on to the handrail.

Overall.....spending time at the Wonderland cabin made for some wonderful "family time". We hope others will enjoy it as much as we did. We hope to return again soon.

Kudos to the owners !!

Lots of Bad and One Star of Good

  • 1 of 5

PROS: The location is nice and just as you enter town. It's not too far away to the downtown area. There was a very nice corner store super close where you could get most things if you don't want to go to main grocery store. It's close to the Aspen Glen Sledding area-a "free" sled area (but you must purchase a parking pass for $5). The unit itself has a nice fireplace and a large TV. There were plenty of sleeping options and the beds were decent.

CONS: We found dog feces under the dining room table. A person in our party unexpectedly stepped on this surprise in bare feet while sitting down to dinner on night 1 of our 3 night stay. I'm curious what our cleaning fee went to considering it hadn't been cleaned before our arrival. Totally disgusting. The lack of clean didn't stop there. We went to use some pans in the cupboard and there was a gross amount of old food & dirt when we picked them up (never mind they were putting dishes on the floor in the first place). I did message the owner upon our return--complete with pictures--and she said folks break the no-dog policy and she'd let the cleaning staff know. Ummm, ok. It's not like I was looking for any kickback....but she didn't even offer a refund on our cleaning fee since it wasn't cleaned in the first place OR even an offer for it to be waived next time we stayed....or something. But nada. Barely an apology.

There are no general instructions given on clean-out---for instance, did we need to dispose of the ashes in the fireplace? If so, where do those go? We ended up finding the ash can buried under snow outside & cleaning out the FP---but would've been nice to have a complete checklist so we don't get dinged additional cleaning fees (laughable in and of itself).

There are warnings about the TV not working if you change a "setting" This is a super easy fix & it would be nice to let your guests know how to fix it instead. It got changed during our stay and took all of 2 minutes to get it working again.

Instructions about the heat--and where to leave the heat settings should also be provided in a checklist. Glad we saw the barely visible paper by the thermostat.

Kitchen supplies: not a single skillet (but 3 pressure cookers). So I would recommend bringing one of your own.

GENERAL: No WiFi. Be prepared to unplug for your stay (a PRO in my book--just not something we were prepared for at all). No one had any data capabilities despite having service through major carriers.

Owner's Response: This cabin was professionally cleaned before this occupancy. This guest was suppose to have 6 adults in her party, but my neighbor called me and told me there were 8, that would equal $24.38 per person per night. She left the property extremely dirty and the housekeeper had to spend extra time cleaning. I told them that I only rented the property to 6 people. I do not know what this guest is referring to as far as dishes are concerned they are all in a very clean cabinet and they are put through the dishwasher between each occupancy. There has been a lot of snow recently, like everyone wants, I am sorry she had a problem finding the ash can. As far as the TV is concerned, I can not anticipate what a guest will do to the TV as I do not know what type of equipment they will hook up so there is no way to instruct the guests as to what to do if there is a problem. We have a sign below the heater because many people do not read the information that is sent to them and it is very important during cold periods to have the heat at 55. We never advertised any WiFi and our AT&T and Verizon phones and iPads work find, I am not sure what her carrier was. This guest asked for a refund even though they enjoyed their vacation in my vacation home. All of these criticisms from this guest are all just an effort to extort money and enjoy a vacation at an owners expense. Shame on them.

Love love loved it!

  • 5 of 5

My best friend and I took our kids for the weekend for some snowboarding and relaxing jan 9-11, and we are so so pleased with this cabin! It had everything we could want and more. Roomy, comfy, and easy to get to. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. Also, the cabin was so CLEAN! No funny smells or dusty areas. Truly it was perfect in every way and we can't wait to go back. IF you are looking to rent in big bear this is the place to do it. For those heading to the slopes this property is about 10min from snow summit. WONDERFUL TIME! Thanks Denise!

Great Cabin Will Be Returning

  • 5 of 5

This is a gem of a cabin, my three kids, my husband and myself, had a great vacation here, it is just as the pictures look, it was very clean and well kept we were lucky enough to be here for the winter storm that blew through for New Years 2015, the house was really warm inviting, and had all the essentials, down to a crock pot. We felt like we were home. We are definitely coming back if we don't make the winter we will be back for summer. I am passing the information to my family and friends.
