Guestbook comments from the manager

Aloha Marie

I meant to leave you a note. (I left a little note in your ‘wedding’ journal on the desk)

We – I – LOVED your space. It was so cozy, welcoming and absolutely perfect. How delightful to wake to the sound of the song birds and to enjoy my morning tea while strolling in your lovely tropical garden. I will and have – recommended your space to others. In fact – told my family about it and suggested we return and experience the magic together.

I felt the love you have placed into this precious little oasis. Your attention to details did not go unnoticed.

How convenient to the park entrance and to be able to see the glow of the caldera lava lake.

Huge Mahalo!!!

Quiet location close to Volcano

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful spot in the rain forest. Mature trees surround the property.

We stayed for only two nights as we live on the north end of the island and wanted to visit the National Park without traveling 4 hours round trip all in one day.

The house is beautiful and furnished with some very unusual pieces.

We did not use the hot tub, but it appeared to be clean and ready to use (hot).

The kitchen was well equipped - but we were unable to find any measuring cups.

Thanks for the quick help when the key was not where expected when we arrived.

One note - the bathtubs/shower combinations were raised and difficult to enter and exit. My mother (73) was too concerned about losing her footing to use the shower. Adding some safety rails for support would help a great deal.

Beautiful home in the rain forest

  • 5 of 5

This home is all that is advertised; well appointed, beautiful setting, close to Volcano. The bedrooms and bathrooms are wonderful (huge jacuzzi tubs), an outside hot tub, gardens right out of a magazine, and lovely views of the forest. We stayed only one night, but were reluctant to leave. It is easy to find. There is a military facility in Volcano that anyone with a military ID (even retired) can access; good place to eat. If you choose this property, you will be glad you did.

Paradise..better than the pictures

  • 5 of 5

This cozy home is unbelievably beautiful and tranquil, nestled in a tropical forest straight out of Jurassic Park. We arrived to find a welcome basket on the table and the spa preheated. The home is lovely with every amenity including hundreds of books and a cozy fireplace. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. Thank you Roxanne for sharing your family's beautiful home.

The house and grounds are exactly as you see in the pictures, however, the 3rd bedroom in a separate building from the house was musty smelling and we did not use it. The owner Roxanne was very nice and helped us to embrace the space more by telling us to light a fire in the fireplace which would take the musty smell away. We did and it helped but I think it was just our mistake in not realizing this is really more of a cottage than a house. It is a wood cottage with a tin roof. It rained every day, all day and night, so the smell was really woody and earthy, as Roxanne described not musty and the sound of the rain all night on the roof was annoying. The hot tub was nice, and the grounds beautiful. It is 2 minutes from the Volcano Park and the restaurants and little shops a minute drive away were great! It is a nice place if you are looking for a cottage it just as not for us.

Wonderful cottage for weekend getaway to the forest

  • 4 of 5

Roxane was a pleasure to work with, answered questions in a timely manner, and provided all the necessary information for a great stay. The cottage had unique decor that gave the rental a cozy and cabin feel but the rooms were huge. Furniture and beds were comfortable. Not high-end linens but kept us warm during the chilly nights. Had to switch around some pillows to find the right one for me, but there were different options in both rooms and closets. The french doors in every room allowed us to bring the outside in, since the outdoor space and surrounding forest were really the stars. Enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs with my coffee, listening to the birds and watching my 5 year-old daughter run around and explore the huge outdoor yard/garden. Super convenient to the National Park, as well as the charming village. Basics like soap, shampoo, toilet paper and paper towels were provided. Appliances were dated but functional. We ate out for all of our meals so didn't really use the kitchen except for coffee in the morning, a few snacks and heating up left overs. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessary elements. Plenty of wood was provided for the large fireplace which was centrally located in the living area for the family to enjoy together at the end of our day.

Hot tub water looked a bit green so we didn't go in. Everything else was terrific.
