About The Owner

Hi, I'm Brenda, I have enjoyed the cottage for the last 25 year with my family. Having recently retired I have moved from the mainland into the main house on my property. I now rent out the cottage so other families can enjoy the river's tranquility and beauty, like my family has over the years.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1981

A fantastic and relaxing spot

  • 5 of 5

The spot was at a great location, right on the Cowichan river, and the cabin was very cozy and well equipped. Everything was as promised and very clean - and Brenda (the owner) was very helpful. The fact that she lived on the same site was very convenient as well, as she was available for any questions. The deck or patio that overlooks the river is exceptional, and has a patio heater + a gas grill + patio furniture for 4. We grilled and chilled there with wine, sitting in recliners, listening to the river flow and soaking in the sun - very relaxing indeed! The kitchen and bathrooms are well equipped, and they have a robust net connection + satellite/Roku connected TV (for those who can't disconnect). The nearby area of Lake Cowichan is very beautiful, and both Victoria and Nanaimo are just about an hour's drive away, so day trips can easily be made. All in all, definitely worth it ... we'd recommend it and would love to go back sometime.

Annual girls getaway

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic 4 days in a stunning location.

The pictures of the cabin on the website are just how it looks - but even better in person!

It is a quiet spot with the balcony overlooking the river. During our stay we saw Great Blue Herons, a black bear just across the river and lots of birds.

Brenda is a wonderful hostess and has done an amazing job with keeping the cabin cozy but with a touch of class that shows in the attention to detail.

You are close enough to walk to town but far enough away to enjoy the tranquillity the property offers.

Lots of hiking areas and wineries to explore.

Will definitely return!

Didn't want to leave , wish we had stayed more than two nights.

Pictures are exactly what you find , but we can't put into words how much we loved the decking, sitting out their listening to the river, watching the heron and kingfisher and hoping to see the bear. As with other comments we would have been happy sitting their all day but we did do some beautiful around the area, the shops are in walking distance if you decide to do your own cooking ( kitchen fully equipped) or there's a great pub overlooking the lake.

Hoping we get chance to go back in the next few years. And would recommend to friends and family.

The only thing that could have improved our stay would have been to see the bear !!!

Stellar cottage and property

  • 5 of 5

We were back again for three weeks in Sept after our week visit at Easter. We can't say enough good about Brenda's place. The property is beautiful, peaceful and quiet, it was difficult to venture out to see the local sights with all the sights right on the back deck. Bears, herons, ducks, otters, mink...to name just a few, and of course the beautiful mesmerizing Cowichan River. The cottage offers everything one needs to live like you haven't left home. It was another great stay Brenda....thanks!
