Perfect in every way. Can't wait to go back again!

This wonderful historic home and three cottages are known as "The Moorings" or heaven as I call it.

We were lucky enough to stay here with family and friends attending our daughter's (our only) wedding in Wellfleet.

I can't say enough about how perfect it was. The property, accommodations (including comfort of the beds) and the "setting" exceeded our expectations beyond belief. I can't recommend it enough.

The property is beautiful, peaceful, well stocked, decorated in a colorful "Cape" style, and April (owner) was terrific to work with. It felt like home.

We hosted barbecues and get-togethers throughout the week - many while sitting in front of a fire at the water's edge. We utilized the beauty of the venue as a back-drop for precious photographs. The large dining room provided a great gathering spot to assemble wedding favors and enjoy morning coffee. The sunroom was magic. I've already had requests from other's to have a regular reunion there. We all miss it!

Thank you April for sharing this picturesque home with us. Wonderful memories abound from guests young and old.

Sincerely,

Lynne

The property was perfect for what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place where the wedding party and friends/cousins of the bride and groom could stay during the run-up to a wedding and where they could hang out afterwards. The property was perfect for that. The spot is beautiful. The combination of the main house and the out-buildings offered both plenty of privacy and places to convene. And, as a starting point for the bridal party's walk to Preservation Hall for the wedding itself, the Moorings could not have been better. I should also note that the owner was lovely and responsive as we planned for our stay.

Great location in beautiful Victorian home.

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed several times in other homes in Wellfleet area but I really enjoyed this the most. The location was fantastically close to the pier, Mayo beach and the town center. So nice not to have to constantly get in the car and drive. The Victorian Main House's front porch was a favorite to sit for hours and read, have beverages and/or chat. The kitchen and indoor porch were also much used and well supplied. The cottages in back were pretty typical of what you would find on the Cape and clean and tidy. The owner was very responsive to our needs, such as when we accidentally ripped a door screen, the handyman was there the next day and repaired it. I would definitely recommend this home and would love to stay there again.

A perfect group vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the property as a "home base" for our wedding. We had 18 people stay. We hosted a BBQ, after party and brunch in the backyard surounding the wedding. The space not only met our needs, but was gergeous. The house felt much larger than we were expecting and was well equipped. We used paper plates and napkins but there were plenty of dishes. Two of the fridges had kitchenettes, which were great. The main house had an extra fridge in the basement which was a great bonus.

The property manager was great. One of the BBQ wasn't working very well and she arranged for a new one right in time for our 30 person BBQ. The space was great for a family gathering because folks could walk to nearby restaurants or hang out in the very large yard.

Moorings location+style = my ideal Wellfleet visit

  • 5 of 5

I've visited Wellfleet and The Moorings multiple times over the years and finally had to review it. The Moorings was the perfect place to stay in Wellfleet during last year's annual Wellfleet Oysterfest and it's my favorite for summer visits as well.

The convenient location close to Main St. and town center meant that we were among the few visitors during Oysterfest who didn't have to deal with the headache of parking. It was also an easy walk to our favorite restaurants and bars (i.e. Mac's Shack, Winslow's Tavern, the Bomb Shelter, Wicked Oyster) for dinner and beyond. We didn't hit the beach too much this visit (October!!) but past summer visits have proven that it's equally convenient to walk to the pier/Mayo beach, or hop in the car to visit the National Seashore side (Newcomb's Hollow if we want the ice cream truck nearby or Cahoon's for the Beachcomber).

The huge backyard looking out on the marsh was fantastic for hanging out with all the family and friends that showed up to Oysterfest this year. We ate meals outside almost every night and cooked a huge bbq looking out on the water. And of course, there was plenty of room for everyone to stay the week thanks to all the cottages on the property.

The main house and cottages themselves were definitely ideal for this fall visit. While most Cape homes might not transition well to the off season, The Moorings main house has brand new radiators that made it incredibly cozy when it cooled down at night. Since I first stayed here, the main house and cottages have been renovated and it definitely shows. Not only did they add the radiators, but the bedrooms and bathrooms all seem to have been upgraded. Since nice bathrooms are one of the first things I notice on vacation, it was great to have bathrooms at The Moorings that are nicer than my ones at home!

Overall, I honestly can't think of anything that would have made my stay in Wellfleet better, except maybe to stay longer! Looking forward to my next stay at The Moorings :).

Nice Property For Large Groups

  • 5 of 5

I and my 5 other siblings rented this property (more like a compound) for a week. This included grandparents, multiple sets of adult kids coming and going. Most of the time the large quantity of rooms were all full. The main house is a classic New England home that is well cared for. The other cottages are basic vacation cottages, functional but not glamorous.

The rear lawn is on a bay, a nice quiet setting that was the primary hangout for the crowd with nighttime barbeques. We were kayaking right from the property although you need to time it a bit with the tides to avoid having to drag it the kayaks across the mud. Plenty of kayak exploring in the area.

We have a minor issue with the stove, emailed the owner, and the next morning a professional repairman arrived and resolved it.

All and all, despite the cost it rates a 5 star rating especially for larger groups where you really gain value. It can sleep a lot of folks with reasonable comfort and is surprisingly quiet for a location within easy walking distance of the center of Wellfleet and the beach.
