Gainesville House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-11)

Having grown up on the beaches in Florida, the need to spend quality time on the water led us to Lake Lanier. We looked for a long time to find the perfect weekend get-away and found it in this brand new home. The easy access to Atlanta allows us to commute when necessary to mid-town Atlanta and Marietta; but while we're here, there's no city noise or bustle. Relaxation sets in as soon as you hit the front steps.

From the front porch, enjoy coffee while the sun rises over the ridge. Deer and other wildlife wander through the property giving a “mountain house” experience. The fall colors are exquisite as the setting sun lights them. Step through the house to the back deck where you can enjoy grilling, relaxing on a chaise lounge, reading or sunbathing. Wander down to the terrace level and take a nap in the hammock or watch the sun set over the lake.

High cedar plank ceilings, a stacked stone fireplace and hardwood floors give our home a lodge feel, while the open floor plan, expansive windows and new top of the line furniture give a definite resort feel. The layout makes this a perfect getaway for two or three families. The house is decorated in a casual, yet refined style that echoes the sweet restful song of the water.

While there are plenty of great places to dine on the lake and in nearby Cumming, Dawsonville and Gainesville, our fully equipped kitchen makes creating wonderful dining experiences for the whole group a snap. With seating for nine in the dining area, (6 at pub height table and 3 at the bar) everyone can enjoy the area’s best seafood from Atlanta Highway Seafood, or steaks from Ferguson’s Meat Market.

Bring your boat or jet ski (or rent one at nearby Port Royale Marina) and tie up on our covered dock. Our cove is deep, but protected and opens up to the big water of Chestatee Bay at the main channel at Browns Bridge. Prefer to float around in the cove? It’s perfect for swimming and restful sunbathing.

When vacation plans require shopping and other entertainment, you're in luck. We're 15 minutes from the North Georgia Outlets, movies, and Lake Lanier Islands. Golf, horseback riding, tennis, hiking, and much more awaits you nearby as well.

About The Owner

Although we're Native Floridians, we've lived in the Metro Atlanta area for 30 years , and we get our 'water time' on Lake Lanier as often as possible. Spending family time on the boat or dock is priceless! One of our favorite weekend luxuries is to take a carafe of coffee down to the dock in the morning to watch the fish feed. We also enjoy loading the boat with snacks or a light dinner and heading over to the Aqualand Marina area to watch the sailboat races on Wednesday or Saturday evenings. The fall colors are seen best on the lake. When the weather doesn't permit boat time, we play board games or take in a movie.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose Lake Lanier

We have a 28 foot boat that we LOVE to use, so we looked long and hard for the perfect weekend home, one we could get to quickly on a Friday afternoon. It had to have a protected cove with deep water, a quiet setting and a style that met with the perfectionist's eye of the architect. We also like to entertain, so we needed a home that could easily accommodate two extra families. Dad and son like to watch SEC football, but mom likes to sit outside reading or snoozing; so there had to be something for everyone. This house has it all!

What makes this house unique

Coming to the lake is like taking a vacation without all the fuss! For us it's a fifty minute drive. One of us always stops at Ferguson's Meat Market on highway 369 or runs into town to get fresh shrimp, fish, oysters, or Cajun food from Phong Le at Atlanta Highway Seafood. Many days we head to Central Park to play tennis before heading out on the lake, but just as often we drift from one resting spot to another enjoying the scenery.

Nice place for family vacation.

  • 4 of 5

The home was very lovely and the owner was very accommodating. The one negative thing about the property was the pathway down to the dock which was dangerous, expecially for small children and the elderly. The dock was nice and the kids enjoyed the rope swing and fishing. We had a nice visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, LInda. Just spoke with the landscaper about checking the pathway to make sure there are no holes or limbs on the path to the dock. Yes, it is steep, but that's how we have 12 - 14 feet of water under out dock in a quiet cove in the dead of summer. Hope you all had fun! Mimi

Beautiful lake house, relaxing weekend

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a girls weekend with 8 of us coming in from all over the US. This house was perfect! Had everything we needed, is beautiful and spacious. The dock was perfect for our boat and the cove was easy to access from the marina. Hope we can rent this house again soon!

Best time in a Superior Location!

  • 5 of 5

Ok, so the owners had nothing to do with the excellent weather we had, but they sure went out of their way to make sure their house met our every need.

The house was cleaner than my own house and is beautifully furnished. The linens are high quality and the beds are very comfortable.

We spent all weekend on the lake. Can't wait to go back.

Relaxing days at Lake Lanier in a beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

The house is fantastic and beautifully decorated. There is plenty of room and lot of places to just relax and enjoy the views. The home is located on Lake Lanier and we brought our own boat and docked it behind the house. We were able to launch it at Vann's Tavern Park which is nearby. We did has a mishap on our way to Lake Lanier when we got a flat tire on our trailer. We contacted the owner to let her know we were not going to be there to meet her and she couldn't have been nicer. She and her husband even tried to help us locate a replacement tire. We were very impressed with the home and it's location on Lake Lanier. Our family had a wonderful time and would love to stay there again in the future. Thanks Mimi.

MUST READ if considering this property - very fair and true assessment! Very nice for some!

  • 1 of 5

First of all, Lake Lanier is AWESOME, so come vacation here! Perhaps NOT this home, but definitely this destination!! This home is very nice and well decorated. This home will suit some nicely, and will be an absolute "no go" for others - specifics later can help you decide if this is for your group. For background, my family travels often and has rented luxury lake homes on many occasions. Family of 5 with 3 boys ages 10, 10 and 11.

We rented this home for 4 nights. Upon arrival, Mimi (owner) was waiting for us, gave a quick tour, and departed - it is a very nice home. However, after Mimi left, we quickly found some deal breakers and called to let her know we'd need to find other accommodations.

* There was ONE working television in the ENTIRE house, and it was in the basement (and not HD) - none on the main level where kitchen/family room is or in any bedrooms. There is an old TV in the master, but it didn't work - We called Mimi and she told us they had the satellite receiver disconnected because it was too expensive to continue paying for the receiver. This was a big deal since we go to sleep with sleep timer on.

* The grill was disgustingly dirty, and the propane tank was completely empty with no backup. Mimi told my wife we could go exchange the tank and she'd reimburse us.

* The back yard is not useful, no real area to do any family activities, fairly steep drop to the lake, and once there, the dock has walkways to spacious slips, but no area to gather (just walkways).

* We were told not to leave the back door to the deck open, not even for a brief period or the house would be full of yellow jackets in no time. Also told not to veer off the path to the lake because of yellow jacket infestation. While I appreciate the advice, I'd expect an owner of a property like this to take some measured actions to mitigate the problem before guest arrival. You're obviously going to have some wasps/bees around a lake, but shouldn't be in "fear" mode.

So we left, after only 20 MINUTES, total loss. Now, after all this said, this was all OUR FAULT. We picked the house, so it is on us. We told Mimi we understood she legally didn't have to give us a refund, but asked her to consider a partial refund and do what she thinks was right. Her offer was to send us a check to buy us a home cooked meal on our grill at home - NOT EVEN A CREDIT FOR CLEANING FEE, but that was her legal right. We declined and stayed at another location on the lake.

Owner's Response: Yes, we have only one TV, a 52’ plasma with Direct TV on the terrace level: page one of my Agreement specifically states this. For those who need entertainment in the bedrooms, there is secure WiFi so laptops and such can be used. I was glad to know the grill was in need of cleaning. As soon as this guest left (after an hour), I returned to the home to scrape and burn off the grill plates. The igniter was not firing, but it can be lit with one of the fireplace lighters kept in the utility drawer in the kitchen. We also keep disposable aluminum grill plate covers in the kitchen for use by guests who don’t like to use a grill others have used. While the gas tank was half full, I did add another full tank. Every guest has the right to expect that my home has been cleaned top to bottom and sanitized especially for them. This guest’s child had a bowel movement in the master bathroom toilet, but had not flushed; no, I did not return the cleaning fee. My next guest got a completely cleaned (fresh sheets and towels as well as every surface cleaned) home. There are bugs in Georgia. We do not leave doors or windows open, period. My home is in impeccable shape and my guests can be assured of that!
