About The Owner

Our family loves spending time at Lake Glenville. Coming from Florida, we love the beautiful scenery and comfortable summer weather high in the mountains. There are so many great hikes and waterfalls to see in the nearby area. We hope that you will love it as much as we do.

The Owner purchased this house in 2010

Why The Owner chose Glenville

Our house is located in a peaceful and quiet setting. Our previous guests always rave about the fabulous views of Lake Glenville and the surrounding mountains. In addition, Lake Glenville is the highest elevation lake east of the Mississippi, with pristine waters and majestic surrounding mountains. It is a perfect lake for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, waterskiing or tubing. You can rent a boat at the nearby marina (2 miles away) and explore the shoreline and beautiful waterfalls that provide water to the lake.

What makes this house unique

You will fall in love with the stunning view of Lake Glenville and mountains from this peaceful home. Guests are welcome to swim at the private Tator Knob beach area, just minutes from the house. The location is convenient to Cashiers shopping, dining, and special events (just 6 miles away).

Guestbook comments from the owner

Doug & Louise,

Hickory House was just what we needed to welcome spring. Our stay was much to short but every day was pure gift. The weather was beautiful and we sat for hours in the sunlight and enjoyed the hummingbirds and the beauty of the lake. The house is warm and inviting and had such a hosptitable feeling. We could tell you wanted us to feel warmly welcomed, even a bottle of wine waiting for us, everything we needed available. We will be back, hopefully for a longer stay.

Tranquil and relaxing environment

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a peaceful and relaxing house to unwind and this was the perfect pick. The views and sunsets from the entire house are incredible. The house is well stocked for your needs. There are many activities and shopping close by such as hiking, boat rentals, waterfalls, etc. You can be active or just enjoy the spacious deck with a good book and beverage. Doug is very easy to work with and provides everything to make your stay a great one. We will be returning!

Fantastic Lake View and Cool Summer Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This Vacation Rental is quite simply amazing! Just walk thru the front door and you'll be stopped in your tracks by the stunning lake view. The home is beautiful in every way. The newly remodeled kitchen is a cook's dream with everything one needs readily available. The oversized kitchen island provides ample workspace as well as bar seating for family and guests. Enjoy the long lake views from the large deck, both master and guest bedrooms, and the wonderful screened in porch off the deck and master bedroom. This location is perfect for exploring Cashiers, The Highlands, and Sapphire. You'll be impressed by the selection and food at the local and quaint restaurants as you tour the area. Rent a boat at the Marina, just 5 minutes from the house, and enjoy a day on beautiful Lake Glenville. You can also rent tubes, water boards, skis, etc. to help really enjoy the day. As you are boating, make sure to get a lake map so you can find the 3 waterfalls right on the lakes edge. What fun!! It was great having a large Ingels grocery a short distance away. Truly this home provides everything one needs to create that DREAM vacation. The owner, Doug, was so helpful sending explicit directions and many suggestions to make our vacation special.

Million dollar view

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Hickory House with another couple and our dog, Sadie. What a nice house with a view we could not wait to get back to every night. The house is clean, stocked well, and the owner was so easy to work with. Meals on the deck overlooking the lake and mountains were perfect. The location was convenient to local shops, resturants, and Lake Glenville. Very quiet and private neighborhood. We would definitely come back to this house again.

Hickory House was the perfect mountain get-away. The owners were very attentive and have really thought of everything to make Hickory House feel like a home away from home. We especially enjoyed cooking in the well- stocked kitchen and eating on the deck overlooking the beautiful views of the lake. We would definitely recommend Hickory House and hope to return again soon!!

Fabulous home in the mountains!!! Grab it if you can!!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we set foot into this home we knew how wonderful our vacation week would be. The house is spotlessly clean with a brand new kitchen totally equipped for anything you may want or need. What more can you ask for? The view from the sliding doors to the balcony overlooks Lake Glenville with no obstruction. There is another closed balcony area with the same view to eat your meals or watch the rain on the Lake. A hummingbird feeder allowed us to watch the beautiful birds come and go during our stay. We ate dinner every night at home because we did not want to miss the amazing sunsets over the Lake from our balcony. Walking in the neighborhood gave us the exercise we needed up and down to the Lake. ( It got easier as the days went by). We loved the neighborhood of Tator Knob!! It is easy to reach the town of Cashiers which has many restaurants to choose from. We loved Ren Devu and Micas....great settings and dog friendly! You must get some local goat cheese from Cashiers Market along with their home made ice cream and wonderful pie assortments to enjoy while relaxing at home late in the evenings. We hiked White side mountain and walked around Lake Fairfield a few times... There are so many choices in the area for outdoor activity it is hard to choose. We loved Hickory House so much we are thinking about purchasing in the area, but until then, we hope to be back enjoying this wonderful home on Lake Glenville. Thank you to the owners who put so much thought and effort into making this the best vacation home!!
