Charming Cottage with so many thoughtful details

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took our three boys 7,9, and 11 to the cottage in early August. The cottage itself had so many helpful details to make the most of our time there. We played in the creek, took the kayaks and inner tubes to find good spots for finding crayfish and rocks for skipping, had s'mores by the fire and did the Roaring Run Furnace hike. Our boys enjoyed sleeping on the porch and loved playing board games supplied by the owners during a rainstorm. The owners were very conscientious - calling to ensure that we had all we needed while we were there. We will definitely try to make another trip to this beautiful property. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. No complaints from us at all!

Great stay!!

  • 5 of 5

Great three day stay to the end our vacation to Virginia. Bobbie and Mitch were the best! They provided all the information needed for our stay. No noise at all and I think the best sleep I have had in a very long time. Thanks again for allowing us to visit this special place on the creek!!

Relaxing, serene, in touch with nature!

  • 5 of 5

What a great time my wife had at Cottage on the Craig. Our dog Hazel learned to swim in the creek and she loved the canoe rides. The kayaks and canoes come with the cottage and it is a great amenity to have so close! We were greeted by Mitch and Bobbie upon arrival and they were the nicest; showing us around and even left us with chocolate chip cookies. We did the closest trails: Hoop Hole ( a hard hike but very worth it-do the lower trip to save your legs) Roaring Run was a favorite with 5 bridges and so many waterfalls. Stay away from the Craig Creek Trail at the Craig Creek Rec Center it was over grown and not tended too. We also did the Finwick Mines which was more like it should of been in Florida not Virginia. The cabin has everything you need for a resting and relaxing vacation. Things are far away so make sure you bring everything you want and desire to the cottage. We can't thank you enough for opening your cabin and giving us a vacation to remember.

Fantastic getaway! Peaceful, gorgeous, and fun!

Great time was had by all (couple in our forties and our beagle)... Freshly baked cookies from the owners who also left s'mores supplies in the cabin that had everything! Hiking, grilling, canoeing, relaxing - it was simply wonderful!

The perfect disconnect to reconnect!

  • 5 of 5

Mitch and Bobbie have a wonderful little hideaway, literally! Thanks for sharing your home with us. We are already trying to plan when we can come back. There's no cell phone service (outside of wifi) and for someone who is glued to her phone and email due to work it was nice to be hands and mind free. We never turned the tv on once big change for my hubby and our almost 20 yr old was connected with us instead of passing thru. We enjoyed meals together chatting, talks and s'mores around the fire every night, laughs navigating the canoe (I fell in for a nice cool down) and just being us again. Everything you need is here from outdoor activities & board games, to all the amenities of home with a few extra "camping" type perks. If you want to completely disconnect to reconnect to you family, relax and not feel rushed in a normal day rat race. Come stay at the Cottage on Craig Creek, you won't be disappointed! The hubby says the only bad thing was although we saw bear scat he never got to see Yogi and he had great hopes of doing so. Maybe next visit.

Perfect river hideaway

  • 5 of 5

What a great trip. We went as 2 families of 4 with kids 5-8yr. The kids had a blast playing in the river, canoeing, exploring the trails, fishing, making smores and hanging at the fire pit, and having "the biggest and best" nerf gun battle. So much outdoor space!! The mommy's had a blast working a puzzle on the screen porch, while the daddy's loved fishing and trail running on the near by Loop Hole Trail. We also got in a great hike at Roaring Run (a perfect hike for kids and dogs). Everything was provided for us in the cabin-- We had a fully stocked kitchen and we had no need for anything more. The cabin was clean and well kept, and Bobbie and Mitch were both very gracious... and the homemade cookies were PHENOMENAL. We actually set up tents and camped, in the yard to satisfy the kids wishes... though some managed to retreat inside. It was a great weekend!!! Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us!
