Property type condo
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Full Baths (Sleeps 4-6)

My name is Allen, and my wife and I invite you to enjoy your Hawaii condo at the Royal Kahili, located on Alii drive close to everything on the Kona Coast. Before we moved to Hawaii, this was our Hawaii home for years. You can enjoy the following as we have done:

Go shopping, enjoy the restaurants, and visit places of interest in Kailua Village.

Sit by the pool in the lush tropical grounds and occasionally watch our hard-working manager John do a fine job maintaining the koi ponds, the waterfall, and the BBQ area.

Watch the ocean from the pool area, see the surfers at two of The Big Island’s best surfing beaches just a very short walk away.

Enjoy the air-conditioned condo, the tropical decorating, the full kitchen, the living room looking on the lanai, the master bedroom with a king bed and TV, the full master bath, the guest bedroom and bath, the ceiling fans in all rooms, the cable TV and DSL, and amenities such as DVD player, water toys, and books.

A month at the Royal Kahili

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we greatly enjoyed our time at this condo. The property is in a great location - close to the ocean, several beach areas, the shopping and restaurants and the airport. The pool was great and we used the outdoor gas grills for cooking. Everyone was very friendly and inviting. It was far enough away from the busy downtown area -- but close enough to enjoy it. The owner was responsive to one issue we encountered and because of our inconvenience, he gave us a gift card to one of the local restaurants which we greatly enjoyed and appreciated. The linens and towels were great - the kitchen was stocked very well with good pans, utensils and dishes/glasses. I would give it a 4.5 rating it that was an option. I didn't give a 5 because of our slight inconvenience while we were there. I would recommend this property and would return again in the future.

Under construction, surprise!

  • 3 of 5

Wear river to find the condo under construction. Tried calling Allen, but he was not available. John on site found us a place to stay which was nice. Got to be in the condo by Friday. For the money and what we needed the condo was nice. Pool area was really nice, but the hot tub is not always on which proved to be disappointing. Was not clear when check out was. We had an 8:00 PM Flight so thought we had plenty of time, but we were checked on several times. That was disappointing. Over all a fair experience.

Owner's Response: This was our fault. We were installing new sliding glass doors to the lanai, and the dates of the installation were confused. We greatly appreciated the help of the manager and his wife in helping the visitors to get temporary accommodations while the work was finished.

Everything would have been an outstanding place except for the cockroaches.

  • 3 of 5

The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed. The only issue we had was the number of cockroaches we experienced during our short stay here.

Owner's Response: Cockroaches are a fact of life in outdoor Hawaii, and Hawaiians are constantly struggling to keep them outside. In this case, the bugs were German Cockroaches which need special extermination. An extermination company was hired to get rid of this species and have done so.
