Lovely 700 square foot casita five minutes from Old Town; 10 minutes from Downtown Albuquerque. Quiet end-of-street 1 acre property with one other home, beautiful landscaping and swimming pool. Beautifully furnished carpeted living room with adobe-style fireplace and sleeper sofa; Dining room seats 6 comfortably; large bedroom sleeps two and has additional sitting area.
Bathroom and kitchen are decorated with Saltillo tile floors and traditional Mexican tile countertops. Lovely patio off of kitchen is perfect for outdoor grilling or just enjoying the beautiful New Mexico sky.
Jill and Marty were wonderful hosts and made us feel completely at home. Clearly, they put a lot of effort into ensuring their guests have everything they need for a wonderful stay (e.g. they've created information binders which include everything from the WI-FI password to menus of local eateries). There are also helpful labels throughout the casita to help you understand where things are, and how they work. They truly seem to have thought of EVERYTHING you might possibly need during your stay!
The property is awesome and its layout and design create a feeling of relaxation and serenity. The back porch of the casita is a particularly nice (and secluded) place to relax.
I could go on...but, suffice to say, this is a wonderful casita and Jill and Marty are exceptional hosts who ensure you have everything you need for a wonderful stay. We could not have been more pleased.
Our vacation home for 8 nites. Very comfy for 2 adults. OK as well for 2 older children. Kitchen a gem with so much provided. Secure enclosure for car. Warm, friendly, helpful hosts with book of tour, activity ideas. Close to Old Town, downtown, museums. We definitely would stay again.
Ann & I spent four weeks in the Casita from December through first week of January. Our hosts Jill and Marty were wonderful and we felt a part of the family. They even decorated the Casita for Christmas for us! They’re both very knowledgeable of the ABQ area and had many recommendations for us … River of Lights, El Churritos, and the Ranch Market to name a few. The casita was the home of Jill’s mother and reflects her personality and interests. The walls and shelves are lined with her treasures. Everything we needed to make ourselves at home was provided. If we are back in the ABQ area we’ll definitely check to see if the casita is available. It's a great base to explore Albuquerque and the surrounding areas. And best of all we now have two new friends.
Truly a perfect stay and a real New Mexico experience for this solo traveler considering relocation. The furnishings and decor in the casita are authentic and lovely. I cooked many of my meals because of dietary preferences and the kitchen met all my needs. How sweet to be able to dine on my own patio under the shade of the latilla - and that was just one option for dining; you also have your own dining room and a kitchen island with stools. The location is quiet yet close to many major attractions: Old Town, Tingley Beach, the Botanic Gardens and Zoo, Rio Grande Nature Center State Park and a whole lot more. As others have commented Jill and Marty are superb hosts who truly care about your comfort and enjoyment. They simultaneously manage to give you all the space you want while also being available to help with anything you might need. I wish I could rate this stay 10 stars!
Of course Leon and I loved our week's stay at El Casita. Jill and Marty are always a delight. This week was more about finding a house than vacationing, but there is something about that New Mexico air that makes it always seem like a vacation. We had a great time having dinner with Jill and Marty on their patio. This place is peaceful and should be called "Vacation Gold" because of how relaxing the atmosphere is. We are planning our third trip next year so that we can look at more houses, and hopefully land the one we want!
Our third stay at the casita, so obviously our favorite choice of VRBOs. The casita is so comfortable and totally stocked with everything you need to cook up that special meal. It even comes with romantic country CDs for that special touch. All the pictures and decor tell a wonderful story. The private patio/with bbq is the perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. It's hard to believe you are in the middle of a very busy city because it has the feel of country. It is so quiet and peaceful, no traffic sounds and walking distance to cows, horses, llamas, chickens and peacocks - how cool is that!. The airport is a short drive away and with two interstates nearby it makes the casita the perfect location. You can head any direction for a wonderful day trip to some of the most scenic attractions in New Mexico. Now I have left the best for the last - the hosts Jill and Marty. They are the hosts you always wanted to find - so welcoming and full of knowledge about the city and state. They make you feel like family, not just a casita guest. We have become such good friends and the friendship continues beyond our stay there. The casita has truly become our favorite place to vacation.
