About the property

Original 2 bedroom log cabin on the Ausable River. This charming log cabin is located on Hulls Falls Road, a quiet back road, that is picturesque perfect. You will find some of the area's best swimming, scenery, and fly fishing at your fingertips.

The cabin has a beautiful river rock fireplace in the spacious living room which makes for a great meeting room for games, conversation, and relaxation. There are 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and one shared bath with a walk-in shower. The living room also has 1 fold out futon.

The kitchen boasts authenticity with a unique antler light fixture, exposed beams, all wrapped in natural wood. Everything you might need for preparing your own meals is stored away in the abundant kitchen cabinets. Two coffee makers, a microwave, mixer, blender, wine glasses, etc., it is all there for your use.

The lush outdoors invites you to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds while sitting on the detached deck overlooking the river. There is plenty of room for setting up your volleyball or badmitton net, or throw a few frisbies around on the open playground next to the river. An open firepit is great for long summer evening conversations or roasting marshmallows with the kids.

About The Owner

This property has been in the family for over 20 years. I recently purchased it from other family members as it is a favorite of mine when visiting the area. Having lived in Alaska for over 40 years, I love the great outdoors and this property rivals much of what we see and love in Alaska. Its' proximity to Lake Placid makes it ideal for those wanting to enjoy the restaurants, shopping, and other amenities Lake Placid has to offer. Its' location makes it ideal for the nature lover.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Why The Owner chose Keene

We love the old time feeling of the cabin, but love having the wireless interenet and the cable TV to keep us up-to-date.

What makes this cabin unique

The roar of the cascading water in the river is music to the ear. The beauty of the trees, foilage, and river is mesmerizing. The long walks along Hulls Falls Road are food for the soul and the body.

Great cabin with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed a week in this cabin for Ironman Lake Placid and we really enjoyed our visit.

The biggest thing I can say about this cabin is that the pictures, summary, and reviews are very fair. I actually found the living room space in the cabin to be larger than I expected from the pictures. Everything was clean and all of the amenities that were described were present and working.

Having the river right across the road was also very nice. It was not a very easy walk down to the river as some of the original steps looked to have been removed on purpose but we were still able to navigate our way down there pretty easily.

There were no real negatives to staying in this cabin. A few of the other reviews mentioned the bedrooms being a little small and the shared bathroom between the two being quite small. I will have to agree with this assessment but I also knew this before I booked the property. This is probably not somewhere you want to book and share with others in which you are not familiar enough to share a small, shared bathroom. Otherwise, I have no hesitations recommending this cabin to everyone. If we are back in the area we will definitely look to book this one again.

Perfect

All the other reviews got it right! The Cabin is both out-of-the-way and convenient. The Ausable River is a wonderful feature, particularly for our warm weather stay. We look forward to our next visit.

Rustic Retreat along the Ausable River

  • 4 of 5

Loved the location. It made for easy access to trailheads. Having the river across the road was convenient for a quick soak after a hike. There was plenty of nature to occupy us. We felt comfortable walking the road. The wildflowers were abundant.

We were surprised to find a Kuerig (wished we knew it before we left home). The kitchen was well supplied. Bathroom was a little tight. We spent time by the fire pit. All in all this cabin for our needs.

Clean, comfy cabin on a quiet street.

  • 5 of 5

We loved falling asleep to the sound of the river. This cabin had everything we need for a perfect anniversary trip. We’ve stayed at many cabins over our 25 years of marriage and this one had the best stocked kitchen. I always drag a frying pan, sauce pan, and knives with me but this time I didn’t need them. All the pans available were usable (no peeling non-stick coating). Thank you for sharing this cozy cabin with us.
