About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Original 2 bedroom log cabin on the Ausable River. This charming log cabin is located on Hulls Falls Road, a quiet back road, that is picturesque perfect. You will find some of the area's best swimming, scenery, and fly fishing at your fingertips.

The cabin has a beautiful river rock fireplace in the spacious living room which makes for a great meeting room for games, conversation, and relaxation. There are 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and one shared bath with a walk-in shower. The living room also has 1 fold out futon.

The kitchen boasts authenticity with a unique antler light fixture, exposed beams, all wrapped in natural wood. Everything you might need for preparing your own meals is stored away in the abundant kitchen cabinets. Two coffee makers, a microwave, mixer, blender, wine glasses, etc., it is all there for your use.

The lush outdoors invites you to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds while sitting on the detached deck overlooking the river. There is plenty of room for setting up your volleyball or badmitton net, or throw a few frisbies around on the open playground next to the river. An open firepit is great for long summer evening conversations or roasting marshmallows with the kids.

About The Owner

This property has been in the family for over 20 years. I recently purchased it from other family members as it is a favorite of mine when visiting the area. Having lived in Alaska for over 40 years, I love the great outdoors and this property rivals much of what we see and love in Alaska. Its' proximity to Lake Placid makes it ideal for those wanting to enjoy the restaurants, shopping, and other amenities Lake Placid has to offer. Its' location makes it ideal for the nature lover.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Why The Owner chose Whiteface Mountain

We love the old time feeling of the cabin, but love having the wireless interenet and the cable TV to keep us up-to-date.

What makes this cabin unique

The roar of the cascading water in the river is music to the ear. The beauty of the trees, foilage, and river is mesmerizing. The long walks along Hulls Falls Road are food for the soul and the body.

A nice winter getaway!

  • 4 of 5

First time stay... the cabin was what we expected, simple. We enjoyed relaxing around a fire in the fireplace (BYO wood), the beds were comfortable, the cabin was clean. It was centrally located for us to get out and enjoy some snowshoe hiking - compliments of the Blizzard of 2017!

I'm sure we will return!

Owner's Response: Sorry, for not seeing the cord of wood that was along side the shed. I spoke to the snow plow service and instructed them to not push the snow up against the wood stack as they did during the recent 2 foot snow fall. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Wonderful cabin

  • 4 of 5

I was so pleased with just how great it was. So cozy, loved the fireplace for winter and roasting marshmallows after a long day in the mountains. And being right on the river would be great in summer, fall. The pictures don't do it justice. Great location if hiking high peaks and close to town.

I would only say that the bathroom, although fine for me, may not suit everyone. It's not luxurious, the water pressure in the shower wasn't great, but It did the trick.

I'd definitely stay again!

Cozy Log Cabin

  • 4 of 5

We've stayed in Keene many times over the years and this was a new find. This is a great rustic cabin. Lovely setting on a back road and across from the river. I can imagine how nice it would be in the warmer weather with the windows open! The fireplace was the best part - nothing like cozying up to a warm fire after a long day of winter hiking.

The shower was a bit small and didn't really have a lot of water pressure, but that was our only complaint. And the water was hot at least. :-) The bed was comfortable, kitchen had what we needed for our stay. There was more than enough room for the two of us, and the cabin was very clean. It's just a short drive to places to eat and places to hike, which is what we were there for.

Gorgeous cabin making for a perfect hideaway in the woods

  • 4 of 5

Rustic but cozy, basic but we'll equipped. PROS: fireplace, BBQ, proximity to hiking trails, fully equipped kitchen, supplies. CONS: close to road (albeit very quiet (however we stayed in November)), limited bathroom privacy,

Fun adventures!!!

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from our wonderful Adirondack vacation. Cabin was exactly as I expected. Lovely little cottage with a lot of privacy. It is across the road from the river, but it was a quiet backroad that made crossing over to the river easy. We would definately stay here again... It was very close to many nearby attractions we wanted to see. We were close to lake placid , had a fun time at the Ausable chasm, and hiked nearby mount severance. Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin!

Comfortable quiet cabin in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

I spent a week here in July 2016 with my daughter shuttling her daily to Lake Placid for hockey camp - 20 minutes away. We loved the cabin - very comfortable and surprisingly well-stocked. A homey living room, wifi and cable, linens and a full kitchen made the place very livable. It's on a very quiet road right next to the Ausable River and a short drive/walk/bike ride to Keene for dinner and supplies. We look forward to staying here again.

Some items to be aware of:

- it's a cabin so don't expect a large luxury bathroom

- it's upstate NY so don't expect air conditioning (though there is ample heat!)

- it's remote so be prepared to pack your own garbage out

- it's in a beautiful spot so be sad when it's time to leave
