Peaceful lake cabin in the woods.

Overall the cabin was inviting with plenty of sleeping space for our group. Living room area is not huge so we pulled in come chairs from the deck some nights while watching the Olympics. Some areas of the cabin in the basement level weren't totally finished which wasn't a huge issue, but it would improve the overall impression of the place. We did have an issue with mice during our visit and caught two with traps we bought in town. The huge deck with a large picnic table and grill was great. The only issue with the deck was the lower railing was quite a bit higher than the deck floor so our smaller dog could get through. This could be an issue with children too. The location was peaceful and the campfire area was great at night. The sky was dark and the stars were bright. It was a short walk to the dock and it was great to have use of the pontoon boat since several in our group wanted to fish. The lake was a bit weedy but they caught enough pan fish for a meal. Not many big game fish were caught, but several nice size bass were caught. The teenage boys in our group enjoyed the diving platform despite the weeds. The location was great and we went to Bayfield and took the ferry to Madeline Island and also hiked in the Amnicon Falls State Park which is a beautiful spot. We highly recommend the Delta Diner which is a short five minute trip. Be prepared for a long wait on the weekend as seating is very limited. Iron River while small, has just about everything one would need with a well stocked grocery store, laundromat and hardware store. Overall, we all had a great time and enjoyed the location. The price was reasonable for all that was included and Steve, the owner, was very responsive and pleasant to deal with when we called with questions. The detailed directions he emailed in advance were wonderful and made the place easy to find.

nice cabin for the price

  • 3 of 5

wonderful place to stay for the price did find that the bathtub had hair in it and dust on the fire place that was easily visible , and my grandson pointed out the cobweb on the light in the dining room we also found duct tape on the window in the bedroom I didn't call to report it though. we had a party of 10 staying so it was busy and full but comfortable the kids had plenty of room to run outside. I enjoyed my morning walks with tons of peace and quite and even saw a deer on my walk. the pontoon boat was fun I wish I would of had more time to enjoy it. extremely peaceful lake would enjoy going again. I also appreciated the fact that it had enough hot water for all of the kids to take an evening shower along with a couple adults. I would suggest possibly getting someone in a little more often to clean the high sports and possibly do some maintenance it could use some paint and minor maintenance but for the price and location it was perfect.

Our Fall get away

  • 4 of 5

I can't say enough about Steve and Anna the owners. They couldn't have been more hospitable. Anything I asked for or about Steve was always quick with a same day reply. We had 6 adults and the bedrooms and bathrooms were great - nice sized and good sleeping beds ! But duct taping a screen in the one bedroom and on one of the sliding glass doors certainly was a tad tacky and then made them difficult to have open. Thank goodness for no mosquitos. The envelope for tipping the cleaning lady was a tad tacky as well as my daughter-in-law noticed cobwebs on the walls in rooms and the mouse trap on the counter of the kitchen sink was tasteless to say the least. We would have appreciated on the TV scheduling have the stations marked that could be received and would have liked numbers available locally where we could call if something went wrong. Being there was no WiFi - my daughter's laptop was useless - which in 2013 the WiFi was available. And a more comfortable couch in the living room would have been excellent. In our eyes, no comfortable furniture except for the beds. I hate writing bad things because I really enjoyed how great the owners were about working with us, but if they could just fix the screens and maybe the lady who cleans could use a leaf blower before each new family comes to blow away the needles on the deck and deck furniture before arrival - it would have been 5 stars!

Owner's Response: Thanks for writing a review and we always welcome input. Without hearing both what you liked and did not like, we have no way of knowing in ways to improve our guest experience. I have called our repair man to fix the screens. We have always welcomed dogs and sometimes they run through our screens. Guests often choose duct tape as a temporary fix, however don't always let us know of the problem. We have spoken to our cleaner about the importance of the cabins appearance as well as keeping us informed as to damage. I understand many may not feel comfortable to tip the cleaning lady and you certainly should not if you don't feel it warranted. We are one of the few places that do not charge a cleaning fee however we have allowed our cleaner to leave her tip envelopes if guests feel inclined. Free WiFi is no longer being offered as we could not continue the absorb the cost of data usage. We had one group use 50 gigs in two days. We did not want to increase our rates so we eliminated free WiFi as most people have internet capabilities on their phone including mobile hotspots that allow for laptop connectivity. We do not post numbers for contact in case of something going wrong as that's our job. As you experienced, we are very responsive and have the local connections to address any need that may arise. Thanks again for your comments and we hope you decide to stay with us again in the near future. Steve and Anna

Amazing cabin, definitely will use again!

  • 5 of 5

The place was quite large, clean, and comfortable. We didn't make it out to the dock or the boat, because we usually stopped right at the deck or the fire pit and that was good enough for us. No light pollution, so the stars were absolutely gorgeous. Also, MAKE SURE TO STOP AT THE DELTA DINER! Best breakfast I've had in a long time.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Yes the Delta Diner (Which has been featured on Diners, DriveInns&Dives) is a must stop in the area. The food is great and it's only a mile away. We hope to see you again in the near future! Steve and Anna

Wonderful cabin !

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is so clean and in a great location. It was a bit of a walk to the boat but once on lake we spent hours swimming and fishing. Owners contacted me right away when I had questions and no problems with anything while at cabin. Kitchen was very nice and open, with all needed appliances and dishes/pans. Grill on deck very nice and space on deck perfect for the kids to sit and eat and enjoy the outdoors. Loved that we were able to bring our dogs! Thanks so much for the space to enjoy a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

average quiet setting

  • 3 of 5

.first impression when we arrived was I hope the inside is cleaner than the outside. it took me 30 minutes to sweep the pine needles off the .steps , deck, and the pinic tables on the deck and grill. got inside and it was very nice and clean and well equipped. the satalitte tv did not work, trees in the way, on the 5 th day of our stay we got tv. quite the walk to the lake and beach, beach was 5 ft out clean then seedweed,, the patoon boat was nice to be able to use. atv trails not accessible from cabin,, just feel very overpriced for what we got. outside impression is just as important as inside to me

Owner's Response: We apologize our cabin did not meet your expectations. We strive to achieve a positive guest experience as reflected in our past reviews. Unfortunately we do have pine needles that fall as we are surrounded by tall majestic pine trees. We will speak with our cleaner about sweeping the deck as part of the cleaning routine. The trees do grow in front of the satellite dish on occasion and it can take some time to arrange for removal. The tree service removed several trees so it shouldn’t be an issue for years to come. Our lake is very clean but in midsummer the weeds are present. We try to keep them away from the beach but it can be a daunting battle. We do not advertise nor advise any of our guests that we have direct access to the ATV trails. We are hopeful that one day we will be able to gain direct access as it would be a great benefit! We do find your comment regarding our pricing of interest. Our rate for up to 6 people is less than $200 a night which includes a pontoon boat and gas. Pontoon rentals typically run $100-$150 a day; therefore, our actual cabin rental fee is between $50 and $100 dollars per night. We feel our pricing is fair and competitive in the marketplace. We appreciate your comments as it allows us the opportunity to improve upon our guest experience!
