When I was 27 years old, I decided to sell real estate. Shortly after at the age of 29, I decided to open my own brokerage, Southern Trade Realty (Oct. 2006 so you do the math to see how old I am now)! I quickly learned to combine my passion for designing, creating and decorating to another level. I started to invest in real estate at a very young age, and I am still very passionate about it. I really enjoy getting to know my guests and proud to say I now have repeat business. I concentrate on making sure my guests are happy and I take pride in the comfort of my properties and of course, the decor has to be just right. Feel free to call me Shannon 804-815-1912.
Shannon French purchased this cottage in 2010
This area is where I personally grew up. I remember the days on the river at a very young age. I fished, crabbed, learned how to swim, relax, kayak, explore and I am still enjoying all of this today with my family and friends.
Pictures cannot even describe this property (many of our guests say this once they arrive). It is one of the most serene places to be. Listening to the waves crash up against the rocks at night, taking a nap in the hammock on a warm summer afternoon, to watching the Osprey on the river, there is not a better place to enjoy nature at it's best. It is all at your fingertips.
Thank you for the pleasant and memorable stay. We love your cozy cottage. Our second stay is as good experience as the first one. See you next year. Happy New Year!
My husband and I were able to escape on our honeymoon for only a couple of days, but we both absolutely loved this waterfront paradise. The views are stunning, the house is nicely decorated, extremely comfortable. The kitchen setting is beautiful and overlooks the water. The jacuzzi tub outside is positioned just right to give you privacy and still an amazing view of the water. Every detail was just right, even the fully stocked cupboards and the gas fireplace in the living room. I cannot wait to return!
Wonderful views and this home is a place to "Relax, refresh, renew".
We rented in the fall, during some chilly weather, so we couldn't use the canoe or kayaks.
We're sure the summer months would be ideal to take advantage of the water right in front of the home.
We would have given this home 5 stars if it wasn't for the long delay in the return of our damage deposit. It was 16 days after we left that we finally received it. Renter beware!
That is this property's policy.
The listing said there were incredible views & we were not disappointed! We awoke to beautiful sunrises & in the evenings exquisite sunsets! The main bedroom w/windows on three sides allows for stunning views of water & wild life. Snowy egrets, turns, gulls, blue crabs.... oh my! Nothing like sitting on the screened porch, with cocktail, listing to the waves lap against the shore & a lightning display in the sky trailing back & forth over the water!
Shannon was friendly, easy to work with and most accommodating! We look forward to our return to this well equipped & lovely home!
My husband and I stayed in this beautiful, well-appointed home over the 2015 Memorial Day weekend. As others have noted, the views from the house are spectacular. The master suite is quite luxurious, occupying the entire second floor of the house. Our son and his fiancée joined us for part of our visit and we all had a great time crabbing and kayaking. My husband and I loved having the bicycles. The area is very beautiful and quiet-osprey were nesting off the front of the property- and we awoke in the morning to the sounds of birds singing. Do visit the local store and remember to order your steaks in advance. They go quickly!
We had a wonderful lunch at Merrior in Topping, followed by a visit to the Dog & Oyster Vineyard in Irvington, two favorite spots for an outing. Williamsburg and Yorktown are less than an hour away, although you may not feel the need to stray that far from this lovely oasis. We are hoping for another visit!
Thank you Shannon!
It was everything that was described in the VRBO listing and more. I was looking for a small place in a tranquil setting on the water not far from Richmond as the trip was a surprise birthday getaway. This home did not disappoint. It is beautifully decorated yet cozy and warmly inviting and the master suite and bath are to die for.
It was wonderful to see both sunrises and sunsets over Mobjack Bay and the river from all the windows in the main living area and the master upstairs. The home looked exactly like the photos and suited us perfectly as we specifically planned to stay in, relax, read and shoot photography of the water, coast and foliage. The furnishings are lovely and as we planned to cook our meals the awesome kitchen was part of the reason I chose this house.
We will be recommending it to everyone and definitely going back. Thank you so much Shannon.
Our family had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful home during the last week of June, 2012. We had a wonderful time. Every detail is covered by Shannon and Corey. The beds are so comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, the coffee was provided, and the water was gorgeous! My husband and son enjoyed crab hunting and we all spent time in the water. It was difficult to pull ourselves away from the house to see the sights. It took about 30-45 minutes to Yorktown/Williamsburg. We also visited Norfolk. However, we changed our plans to spend an extra day at this wonderful home just enjoying the Ware River and the cottage. We highly recommend this property and all it has to offer.
